Announcement: Please be aware of brand new accounts impersonating someone with a leadership position in your faction. Do not believe them, do not let them in to your faction, do not give them full access to your faction vault.
Ahhh so the message is purely to save staff from having to work to return stuff.
Was wondering why we suddenly had this brand new warning that I've never seen the likes of before. Fair enough.
Edit: It's late here, excuse me, not aimed purely at you. But isn't it just impersonating staff that is illegal? I know this current wave is not doing that. Well, unless they tried impersonating Stretch. But we've had it here in FTW. No staff.
(I think) It's a warning aimed at a phisher that has recently turned up again. It's not aimed at people scamming items, but rather accounts.
They pretend to be someone you know and claim they have been locked out of their account, then they will proceed to ask personal information to try and recover the account, phishing it. (some high profile accounts in high profile factions got phished recently, hence the attention to it now)
It's rumoured to still be the same phisher that has been operating for over a decade (same one Clansy once took legal action against, but nothing could be done), the only real way to combat this is make people aware (A newsy about this was sent out in my faction recently, much alike the announcement given by staff) and encourage them use 2FA so it's virtualy impossible for anyone else to access the account.
I've had it a few times, people pretending to be the boss of a company I was in, various respected members from within the faction, and the last one the other day was hondaa, who was pretending to be the Co, Aldous, who I happened to be chatting with at the time...minutes later they were in fed. However, this was more the 'I'm gambling, on my mates account, need to hide the money, let me join, give me access etc.'
