okay so being new at factions its been hard to get new members. spending hours searching and asking new players and also current players if they are interested in joining a new faction, but thats one thing not anyone really wants to do seeing a new faction dosint have much to offer?
any advice? linking and or joining with another faction to get members temp.? is that a thing? i really dont wanna just sell and buy a faction right now because all my money is up in stocks. lol
yes starting a faction with 5k respect is not a great idea, not many will want to jump in on that
only time that ever really works is if the group doesn't really "play" the fighting/crime/gym/etc parts of Torn and just uses the faction as the hangout spot for forum/chat and bank/armories...
the problem is starting one with zero other people to help. if you had a good core of 5-10 players, then you can chain effectively together, slowly build it up to something great.
but starting with zero people as a core. then you have to first FIND that core before you can start to build something new, and thats just another level of difficulty added.
Even buying a faction with 200K respect or what ever is not going to help much if you don't have that core of players to help you, But it does take a few steps off the slow grind of making a successful faction.
find those core players first, and the rest will come in time.
makes sense. i had a few people but now im down to only ONE person.
so im guessing if im wanting to get into the faction life and get all the fancy perks and stuff im going to have to spend some good money. and i really dont have a problem with dumping money on a faction.
i just dont want to dump millions on a faction and then everyone leave because the previous faction leader is setting up a scam or something stupid. haha.
p much what Otter said, a faction isn't a one man business, get a group of friends who all have the same ideas together and start building, a faction of randomers rarely ever works.
best way to recruit is to offer something people want.
this can be done in several ways.
offer things like meds, Xanax, points, etc.
have passive perks
create an environment that certain players are looking for. some want a laid back, do what ever faction and others want torn is life train and chain and become the best faction. some want crime related, some travel, etc. set it up how you want it and find players with the same goals.
offer them knowledge. teach them how to do things within torn. this includes all of the things I listed above. each will interest different players differently.
not all players want the best of the best faction because of what is asked of them to be there. find your niche, stick with it, and enjoy the game is the best answer I can give.
I'm currently going through the task of building one up from scratch, we are little over 50 days old, and smashing it. Really proud of my faction so far we're doing well. As others have said it is a lot of hard work and it helps if you are dedicated and have a "core" group of members.
For me I had 3 IRL friends join me, from there I've had to put a lot of time, effort and money into faction. If you need any tips let me know. Obviously I know Riot isn't massive right now but we'll get there, we just won our second war today!
