Weapon Quality? Huh?
Weapon "Quality" is a percentage score shown on your weapon infocard. For example:

My Gold Plated AK-47 (GAK) has a quality of 16.36%.
Quality Colour
You might notice some weapons with a colour ("Yellow", "Orange" or "Red") next to their Quality percentage. These are given to "special" weapons or armor, i.e. items that have a bonus. The colour signifies the rarity of the item, as well as the size of the bonus Damage/Accuracy that has been bestowed upon the item. Yellow is the most common of the special items, Orange is next and Red is the most rare. Red also provides the largest.
How is that score calculated? Is that good?
Quality for weapons is calculated using two variables, and Armour one. Weighted as follows:
- Weapons: 50% Damage, 50% Accuracy
- Armour: 100% Armour Rating
To calculate each part of this, you take your weapon stat, subtract the "base" or "minimum" for that stat, and divide by the "range" of that.
- For a GAK, Damage ranges between 75 - 80.
(76.18 - 75) / 5 * 50% = 0.118
- Accuracy ranges between 62 and 67.
(62.46 - 62) / 5 * 50% = 0.046
Total Quality = 0.118 + 0.046 = 0.164 (= 16.4%), which you'll see matches the above screenshot (well almost, due to rounding).
Some things to note:
Damage, Accuracy and Armor each have standard ranges of 5.00.
Yellow, Orange and Red weapons can push Damage and Accuracy values well outside of their standard ranges (i.e. if GAKs were found in caches, you might see one with 81 damage), and hence a Quality greater than 100%. For example, this Red Beretta has a Quality of over 300%.

Legacy:
- When first introduced, Quality included "special bonuses" - 2 for each weapon and one for each armour, thus accounting for 50% in total for any item. This was removed since most weapons do not have a single bonus (yet) and none have more than one - additionally armour pieces also do not have any bonuses.
