I understand what he is saying. You can support Republican policies/values, but not necessarily support the man in charge. If more Reps in the Senate had the bollocks to think this way, then Trump wouldn't be the name on the ballot come November.

As you say, the choice comes down to two. So then do you vote for the party or the man in charge? You either vote for the party with which you don't agree with their core beliefs in order to remove one man, or you vote for the man you don't want in charge in order for your party to remain in control.

A similar situation arose in December in the UK where Labour constituencies turned Conservative for the first time ever, in part because nobody could trust Jeremy Corbyn (I know it was more complicated than that, but that was a large part of the decision making).
