Do you ever think about death?
Sometimes I think about it lying in bed, just before sleep and the thought of it gives me like a little panic attack for 5 minutes. I find space interesting because of all the unknowns, but then when im watching something the thought of space and how small we are then makes me think about life and death.
How do you feel about it? Do you try not to think about it?
I'm approaching 28 - hopefully still have a long time on my hands, but I dont know, we all experience it just makes me scared, very scared and sick feeling.
I had a similar experience years ago mine was anxiety related (was following a family members death) lasted for 6 months or so until I talked about it with my therapist it was hard to describe but when I would lay down it felt like everything was closing in on me
i thought about that when i was a teenager. i dont know if i was scared or not, but whatever it was, it eventualy makes me want to "embrace" it, then i become interested in spirituality and pilosophy. i learned a bit about budhism/hinduism, was interested in Baghavad Gita and how we should relieve ourself from our needs and all that. i also learned about sufism because my place is muslim predominated country. it was nice.
I think that's normal to ponder your mortality (I ponder mine often when you attack me repeatedly jk).
But seriously, death happens to 10/10 of us. There is no avoiding it. I think the scary part is the unknown part. You KNOW you will experience something UNKNOWN and you have no real way of knowing what to expect. There's an aspect of control that we are so used to that is suddenly gone.
Now, I think about life after death quite often.... almost daily. For me personally, it's a spiritual reality that everyone will have an eternity after death of their body... The soul doesn't die. It would be comforting and nice to think that we could reincarnate or maybe be ghosts for a while... but the reality is that we will all be in one of two places or "states"... forever. One is a very glorious existence that we cannot fathom. Another is an eternity of intense severe suffering and agony... an eternity... that's what lays so heavy on me. The dying part is scary but more so what is scary is the idea of being locked in hell for an eternity. Like that is absolutely terrifying. I've had dreams where God revealed to me a glimpse of heaven and hell (dumbed down so I could understand) and both dreams were just so powerful and vivid.
I say all of this to say that the fear is normal but the peace of knowing that so long as you have breath, there is hope to have salvation is a huge sigh of relief. I just pray that people make the right choice while they still have a chance. <3
I think about death almost every day. Not my own though, other peoples. The dead. The murdered and the suicided and the natrual causes. Just about every single day. ... so many dead. And yet here I remain. Still.
On a personal level I look very much forward to death. I lived enough life to have seen the unexplainable that it is obvious nothing is ever truly lost or destroyed, energy just changes form. That said I do plan on fighting formevery last scrap and second of the life ive been born into regardless of how shitty it can feel sometimes. Tommorows another day. I aint killing myself early... unless its with lots of drugs or a complete accident and even then I would not count that as early self termination but rather thatd be my last f**k up.
But nah, man, it aint nothing to be anxious over. It is ome of the very dew few garuntees we all have in life. Death comes for us all no mater what. When? How? Why? Immaterial questions to me, hell, I probably wont even have time to process the happening until after the fact.
ive dealt with suicide for over 10 years now on different levels. sometimes, unwillingly, maybe in a bout of frustration it will cross my mind suddenly yet unwanted - "end it" - to which i respond with - "bruh its not that serious for 1, 2, dont have the effort to do so today" - to much more serious events in my life causing me to actually make 2 or more extremely close attempts. (as of right now and of recent i am very much ok!) as well as having MANY friends die from different causes (like, ive had more casual acquaintances to very close friends pass than my mother 60yrs or grandmother 80yrs, which is wild af to me)
but because of that, i sort of MADE myself contemplate death and the after. is it the peace i hope for? the non existence period? do i get a heaven with everything perfected that i could ever want? i dont know, i dont have solid belief in any of the fathomable options yet. i do not believe in an eternal hell, it just doesnt make sense to me. ive also studied into many different religions because of my thoughts of death as well and as far as i can recollect from studies, theres not many that have such a thing like your typical eternal christian hell. and as for that christian hell, it doesnt add up with the rest of christianity and some of the things it stands for to me in my opinion when it comes to the rest of the justifications and morals within christianity... as well as the idea of jesus christ... as of recent, his story isnt adding up much to me either. saw a clip of some pompous little christian missionary asshat telling a muslim (whos basic beliefs and morals i seem to side with more over christianity; not so much with the whole halal and head coverings but with their generosity n stuff) how his "allah" wasnt righteous or just or some crap, to which the muslim responded something along the lines of "how the hell does it make sense for someone to steal from me or to sin against me in some way - and i turn around and tell them 'here take my son and torture & crucify him bro. its the only way i can forgive you and make this right.' tell me how YOUR christian god is righteous and just in that situation" so thats been on my mind lately, id like to work that one out for myself soon lol
moving on though
i just eventually came to the realization that i must be ok with this all coming to a sudden and abrupt in someday, i had to be ok with it - i had no other choice; i suffered enough with battling my own hands taking life from me, that i couldnt add the suffering of being scared of the unknown after period as well. what happens happens. do i believe there is reason for it? sure maybe. i had to find reasoning in many friends passings, lessons in losing them. so if i go i know some family or friends may find some knowledge or realizations from my own death as well - which is reason enough for me. of course i would like to achieve SO MUCH MORE in this life than to abruptly pass tomorrow, i just turned 28 myself and shit i still feel like a child, but i cannot control everything as i would like to. if anything i use humor and ridiculous sarcasm in alot of situations in life to deal with some things and that satisfies and entertains me quite a bit, and id say my happiness lies there within myself, so at least ive found thorough happiness along the way. im very content and happy with my appearance and my mind, despite its sometimes overly passionate urges to turn itself completely off forever, but these are all of the things i have had to acknowledge, realize, and thoroughly think through in order to overcome any discomfort and unease with death. maybe someday my life will change and ill suddenly find myself with much more i would want to live on for, who knows. but i know right now in this moment if i were to take my last breath, that is perfectly fine with me. i am ok with it. and i appreciated every good and bad ive experienced and even didnt get to experience, but im thankful for all the knowledge of life that i did get to see and learn about.
i very much hope you can find something in this post that may help you find ease within the concept of death. it very much is a scary thing; humans can learn and discover so much... except the end it seems, but that doesnt mean you cant find some sort of acceptance with it, and overcome the fear enough for it to never bother you again on the level that it may now.
Death is not a big deal for me. I guess to explain how i feel about it not something mortal like "fear" or "terror" or "doom". Totally unrelated. For me it's more like, it is inevitable every year you gotta insure your car, every year you gotta pay road tax. Hate it. If you eat spoiled food you feel really bad: it is inevitable you will vomit - and i hate to vomit lol. You got a microwave burger - you wish you could just have your burger and eat it - but the reality is after 3 minutes microwaved, you eat the burger and it is gone forever. The tragic inevitability of impermanence.
Life is a state of being, a transitional period. A temporary thing like the joy of a microwave burger. Something inevitable is always coming, like the impending lack of a microwave burger cos you already ate it. Or Death.
But for me those things are equal. I don't have mortal fear for having no burger anymore. And same for death. You only live once; so just enjoy the burgers and barrel on straight into the afterlife with a burger in hand imo.
Its something everyone will go through. Just be a good human being. Hurt no one. Plant trees in public places (like parks and gardens). The insects and people that eat from it, will only do you good. Then you have nothing to worry about.
I've always looked at death as turning off the lights when you leave a room. Cliched, right? I know, I know. But still, death to me is just something that happens on a journey. I don't think it's the final destination; rather, it's just a stop along the way. The question I've always wondered is whether it's best to turn the lights out on your own or wait for the bulb to go out. Either way, the room gets dark when you leave.
nope.... i was never afraid of death.... i thought of it once as a child and determined death isnt at all scary, but rather the death of your parents was the scary thing instead. and that your own death is only bad to those that you leave behind that will be sad for you. although im more of a depressive personality so i think on sadness of loss more than i do of fear of demise.
i probably think of life more though..... there was time as a very young kid i thought things such as... why is my vision in these eyes, why do i see from these eyes, i could have been seeing from any other bodies or persons eyes, why this body? did i get put here? did i choose here? is it by random chance? can i move out of here somehow? does the other people see how i see? (which i guess could now be are other people sentient) can i somehow see from their eyes? and i dunno i got lost in thought as a kid and felt weird maybe self mindblown thinking almost weird feeling dejavu almost semi out of body type feeling, i was young... anyways i have ever since always tried to think and be aware to try replicate or chase that weird mindblown feeling and always failed ofcourse. but always have peace with who i am and my being and no fear of death.
i was more of a type to question life and existence and being, rather than the death... and i have even less fear of death now as thinking on existence and being, i feel we are more than these bodies.
in b4 anyone asks, no i dont feel theres any god in the sense of what humans assume and claim we know, infact humans idea of god is too limited and rooted in fuedalism that you can see through it right away that our ideas of god are wrong if there is such a thing as a god, it certainly wont be fuedalistic lord type and it wont expect or require your worship, your being and existing is enough, and perhaps there is no god, perhaps we are all just one i am all of you and i do see from your eyes but in a different time and i have lived and will live each and everyone of your lives perhaps. i am you and you are me, i saw from your eyes as did you from mine and that perhaps was the feeling i had. and then that means there is only one being in existance, me, you, us. and time is nothing which allows me/we to seemingly be all at once but infact we are only being 1 at a time.
We all tell ourselves what we need to so we are able to live with death. we need some kind of head canon so that we can deal with the prospect that one day we will eventually pass.
With that in mind I'm looking forward to shaking hands with this dapper bastard. [image: www.ruthlessreviews.com] HAVE YOU BEEN NAUGHTY OR NICE?! ;)
