A simple and familiar suggestion, add an enby option for people to select if they feel it fits them best. Please read everything before commenting.
I'm taking the guesswork out of this for anyone wondering how this could easily and simply be implemented by showing it first hand.
First I have made the symbol, in keeping with both the visual style across torn and the associated colours for the gender.

Here is a copy of the symbol should torn staff agree the visual style and colour palette are a suitable match for the site.

Now I'll address a few of the most common logistical questions, starting with how would gender specific text be handled for those who select this option?
Across all attack logs, events and general flavour text, the current pronouns would be replaced as follows:
· She/He > They (they approach the table and sit)
· Her/His > Their (fires ten rounds of their gun)
· Her/Him > Them (giving them 100 seconds of)
More specific cases, such as if girl/lady or man/guy are used in mission text can be adjusted on a case by case basis, but are overall both less frequently found and less important than the vast majority of binary-centric words which can be changed quite efficiently with a text replacement pass.
What about the change gender setting? How would that be handled? Well I've mocked up a rather straightforward method which utilizes elements already common to the settings section, see below.

One final thing to mention are strip club companies. Not much to say on this one though, as nothing would change from how things currently are handled. Anyone who is not the specific accepted gender will not be able to work at that given strip club. This means that those who mark themselves as non-binary will not be able to work at either strip club.
Edit: I haven't mentioned player models in this post because it extends past the scope of what I am suggesting, however an excellent response which accurately summarises my thoughts towards models can be found here.
Essentially, new models do not need to be created, retaining the model of whichever binary gender was last selected (or choosing one at random for new accounts) is more than sufficient.
I hope my explanation of how this addition can be implemented has been helpful.
Why should staff/devs consider this? First it is a frequently voiced request, which has received an overwhelming amount of desire from both those who are a part of and (like me) simply support this part of the gender spectrum.
Additionally, torn has already set a precedent for going in an accepting and inclusive direction with its adoption of both same-sex marriage and the pride flag honour bar. As the years go on, the lack of gender inclusivity becomes increasingly more glaring in the light of other similar platforms having long sense adjusted to acknowledge and accept this demographic properly. It's an unfortunate tinting on a social-driven game which has otherwise been quite supportive towards this community.
In discussion of this suggestion, please remain strictly on topic. This isn't a thread to discuss personal feelings or beliefs, this isn't a thread for political or scientific debate, this certainly is not a thread for derogatory remarks from anyone regardless of their intent or stance. Most importantly, please do not engage with anyone who goes against this! This is not a place to debate or fight.
This also isn't a place to detract from the body of this suggestion with unproductive comments about the theoretical difficulty of implementing something like this, Crimes 2.0 isn't further delayed by suggestions. It's up to the developers to prioritize their own order of operations.
Discussion on this and all suggestions should be specifically related to how the suggestion impacts torn as a game, both in the mechanics and the community.
To someone outside this demographic, this is only a very minor cosmetic change, it doesn't negatively impact your gameplay.
To someone inside this demographic, it has far far more meaning and significance.
So once again, please be respectful no matter what stance you personally take, avoid derailing by staying on the subject of how this suggestion impacts the actual playability of torn. Similarly, dislikes should only be given on this basis, not for any personal options that extend beyond the scope of this suggestion and torn.
Much thanks to the lot of ya! <3
