Yes officer, this one right here.
Oh and also...
'Don't break the piggy bank, put it in your display case instead'.
If you're gonna spend on DPs, do it early and buy stocks.
Not advice I needed, but lots of noobs do need:
1. Leading a faction is massively hard work, and it's way worse if you make a new one. Join an established faction first, and wait a few years.
2. Only traders and people with early-game exploited money will make it to the top 100-500 of anything major
3. You aren't competing with most of Torn, you're competing with the guys around you.
4. Gambling is bad, and all forms except Poker and sometimes RR are mathematically guaranteed to lose out
5. RR is still damn near 50/50 anyway, and odds are you'll bet yourself to zero multiple times if you make a habit
6. Buying boosters (Cans, FHCs, SEs) for your stats before getting a good passive income is a pointless waste and will make your account take longer to build
7. Armour and Weapons > > SEs
7.a. Unless you have unlimited money, in which case do both
I might have been guilty of that, during my first year, and it's not worth it.
Torn is a marathon.
Also:
- Find yourself a faction that suits you. Don't hesitate to change, early on, if the atmosphere is not as friendly as you'd like. Or if you are way more active etc.
- Read guides... Lot of people wrote very useful guides. There are free, and available in a specific Torn forum area.
- ... but don't think players know it all. Make yourself an opinion and own your decisions in the game. Example: lot of noobs ask about happy jump (what kind, until which stat it's useful etc). But smart people made Google sheets that allows you to do the simulations yourself. So fill those sheets with your numbers, get your own conclusions and own your strategy.Torn is rarely black or white, it's often just a matter of priority.
- The API is awesome. If you want to learn programming, or are already knowledgeable, sky is the limit and there is a lot of space for creativity. There is a very friendly community of script programmers.
