To celebrate reaching my personal goal of 10k karma and the release of the new Forums API update, i've been messing around with it, and i believe i've come up with a way to create user-specific "profiles" based on their post history.

To do this, all you need to do is pull up ALL of their posts, parse out individual words, clean it up a bunch and see which words are used the most.

On top of that, i'll be adding an "Ego ratio", which is derived by dividing all counts of "i", "me", "myself", "mine", "my" by their counterparts ("you", "your", "yours", "yourself", "yourselves", "them", "they", "their", "theirs"). An Ego ratio of 1 means the the person talks about themselves as much as they talk about others. Ego ratio > 1 means they talk mostly about themselves, and Ego ratio < 1 means they talk about others more.

Most common words are filtered out (the, and, but etc.). On top of that, i've added a bunch of extra filters for words that are used by everyone, like bump, faction, player, congrats etc. (most of them were picked manually after looking at a lot of these wordclouds).

Each person will have two word clouds - a complete one, and a top 100 topics one that tries to condense the words down to common topics (kinda janky sometimes).

To test this out, i've picked out some well-known forum denizens. Here is the result

Ana - Me, Myself and I (Ego ratio 1.32)

Ana stands out since she focuses A LOT on herself (the word "I" is used 7567 times, versus 5033 "you"). "Ana" is even one of her top used words (109 times) - this is unique among forum dwellers if you don't count people who sign their name after each post. Aside from that, she talks a lot about SMTH

D3vl - raging warmonger (Ego ratio 0.52)

D3vl mostly talks about wars and how broken the system is, calling out Ched and bogie. He also loves calling people idiots and retards. What else is new?

MeanMike - "Guys, stop talking shit" (Ego ratio 0.81)

Surprisingly not that interesting - calls people "guy", "dude" and loves talking "shit". Oh, and mentions Nova 3x more than Lat.

Lat - Rip in Piss (Ego ratio 1.04)

The love War, Fun, Folk music and the Norwegian band A-ha i guess?

Vernunzio - Welcome to P&L (Ego ratio 0.67)

There are plenty more P&L posters, but most of them look roughly the same. Honestly, didn't expect this to be dominated by P&L THAT much.

JS_REP - Horny man lover (Ego ratio 0.87)

What can i say - the man with the biggest Johnson doesn't even talk that much about his Johnson. He does talk about dudes and dicks quite a bit though...

Emforus - Criminal mastermind (Ego ratio 0.7)

A man with a clear passion - CRIMES! Can't say this is unexpected.

Omanpx - Idk, some nerd i guess (Ego ratio 0.48)

Only fair that i include myself in this. Nothing too unexpected, the constant Fedded Archives updates are messing with my results though (BBS, multiple, duration, etc.)

Andyman - Gun lover (Ego ratio 0.82)

Talks about weapons, damage, energy and ammo a lot. Not surprising, seeing as he wrote a bunch of the OG guides on fighting and weapons.

Proxima - More guns, but with poker! (Ego ratio 0.82)

Similar to Andyman, but with a lot more variety.

Note: some of the clouds are too big to look like... clouds and instead take over the entire screen. That means the poster is covering various topics.

Note 2: I tried doing Bogie and Ched, but they post too much responding to bug reports etc., and it just looks... weird.

I realise people will ask me to make these for them, but the process is not super streamlined for now and i'm mostly available in the evenings, so please be patient.

Since it takes some effort and to reduce the number of queries, i'll make these for 5 Xanax if you let me post them publicly here, or for 10 Xanax if you want them to stay private.

Also - if you have some interesting suggestions (spastics, people passionate about certain topics etc.) that would be interesting for all to see - drop them in the comments and i'll make the ones that get a lot of upvotes for free. The more someone is locked into some topic, the more interesting the clouds will look, so don't suggest people who are posting all over the place please.

DISCLAIMER - If you see "king" in people's word clouds, it stands for f**king 99% of the time. Future word clouds should show this properly, sorry for the misunderstanding!

Lol well done!

I used to do these to the community event forums and would get some funny results.

Could also leverage an LLM, they're fairly good at this.

The person who posted this can be categorized as a data-driven analyst with a penchant for community engagement. Here's how I arrive at that categorization:

  1. Analytical and Data-Driven: The user demonstrates a strong analytical mindset by developing a system to analyze forum users' post history, filtering out common and irrelevant words, and calculating an "Ego ratio" to measure self-referencing behavior. This reflects a deep interest in data analysis, pattern recognition, and quantitative assessment.

  2. Community-Oriented: By focusing on well-known forum members and sharing the results with the community, the user shows a clear investment in the dynamics of the forum. This suggests they value community engagement and enjoy contributing to discussions that revolve around the social fabric of the platform.

  3. Technical and Innovative: The user has engaged with the new Forums API update and utilized it to create personalized profiles. This showcases not only technical proficiency but also a creative approach to using available tools to generate new insights.

  4. Humorous and Insightful: The categorization of users with light-hearted, humorous labels ("raging warmonger," "Horny man lover") indicates a playful attitude toward the results. This blend of humor with data suggests a person who enjoys making analytics both engaging and entertaining.

  5. Self-Aware and Reflective: Including themselves in the analysis ("Omanpx - Idk, some nerd i guess") shows self-awareness and a willingness to be introspective, adding a human touch to the otherwise data-heavy approach.

I’m really curious to see how big f**k, f**king, and f**ker end up being on my word cloud. I cuss a lot more than I think I do.  Or at least I think I cuss more than I think I do. Course now I’ve added seven more ‘I’sto the count too. I’m probably self centered too. 5 Xanax on the way!
