Generals throughout history have been major figures in the outcomes of battles, wars, and even the trajectory of entire nations.

For example Alexander the Great, he conquered most of the known world at the time and was a great general! Hence the name

Hannibal Barka was also a cool general, he led his army to cross the alps to fight rome, which was really impressive for the time period!

Genghis Khan was a really powerful bloodthirsty general that fathered many children and turned the mongol empire into a killing machine.

Saladin led muslim forces against the crusades, and retook Jerusalem from them! He was also known for his chivalry and respect for his enemies.

Napoleon Bonaparte is often made fun of but he revolutionized military tactics and had a really impressive track record all things considered!

Ulysses S. Grant's defeat of the confederate army was a turning point is us history that I'm unsure a lot of people in this forum are happy about.

Erwin Rommel fought for the nazis as a general and ran a group called the desert foxes, he was able to adapt on the fly and support an army in the harsh desert conditions

Douglas MacArthur had many impressive battles under his belt and eventually was the overseer of the reconstruction of Japan

Winston Churchill isn't typically remembered as a general but he was and his impressive speeches and rallying kept everyone united.

Who are your favorite generals? I love that we have a forum dedicated to generals

Mine would be Subutai, Genghis Khan’s main general. He conquered most of Asia and would have conquered Europe as well if they hadn’t just up and left.

In all seriousness though, I do actually have a favorite: General Norman Schwarzkopf. He was an American icon during the Gulf War.
