Bad news friends, we've been getting scammed with the gold eggs so far. This is a critical bug that we must have fixed ASAP.

If you don't have eyeballs the above image says, "Effect: Permanently increases all battle stats by 1% and booster cooldown by 6 hours." which is the description of the Gold Egg.

The issue: as the effect clearly states, the gold egg PERMANENTLY increases booster cooldown by 6 hours. It also mentions battle stats which is a nice secondary perk, but obviously they decided to save the best for last when listing the +6h perm booster CD increase.

At first I thought that probably I just don't understand grammar. And in the past I would have left it there. However these days AI exists and they honestly understand grammar better than I do so I decided to ask Copilot what this sentence meant. I was blown away when Copilot confirmed that I was right. We should be getting 6 extra hours of booster cooldown permanently when using the Gold Egg.

Here is the proof from the AI:

"Effect: Permanently increases all battle stats by 1% and booster cooldown by 6 hours." this statement describes the effect that you get from an item in a game. Grammatically speaking would it be accurate to say that this item increases booster cooldown by 6 hours permanently. If the word permanent is not supposed to apply to the booster cooldown would you need to add a comma somewhere or other punctuation?

Great question! The current statement could be interpreted as both effects being permanent. If the intention is for only the battle stats increase to be permanent, you would need to add punctuation to clarify this. Here are two options:

  1. Using a comma:

    • "Effect: Permanently increases all battle stats by 1%, and booster cooldown by 6 hours."
  2. Using a semicolon:

    • "Effect: Permanently increases all battle stats by 1%; booster cooldown by 6 hours."

Both options clearly separate the two effects, indicating that only the battle stats increase is permanent.

Does this help clarify things? 😊

The same wording is used for the Brown Egg as well so the gold one isn't special! I fully expect staff to correct this right away by awarding people their rightful booster CD to correct this blatant injustice.

Here is the proof from the AI

its hilarious how easily we as people are relinquishing the "thinking" to the ai.

Jorn [251329]

clearly this means after eating 8 golden egs, you can never eat anything again, as you hit 48 hours of booster cooldown permamently.
They better fix this asap. It's not fair those people can still take energy drinks every day and jump of buildings with a parachute.

Well the fact that the effect description is written by TT and not the the Devs of Torn, you may be shit out of luck.

Well...

It says it increases booster cooldown by 6 hours... which it does.

It does not say it increases maximum booster cooldown by 6 hours... which is also correct.

There's nothing wrong with the description, it's how you're interpreting it.

Varides [2176530]

So what you are actually saying is everyone that uses a gold egg should permanently have their booster at a min of 6/24 (or 48 hrs or whatever your perks are).

Ohadik [424017] Wiki Contributor

The effect description is written by Torn. The confusion comes from the fact TT used to do this because the game didn't. Now the game includes those descriptions by default. You can disable TT and check if you'd like.

Viciously_Grim [2752611]

Effect description is vanilla Torn, not from Torn Tools.

It would've been funny though.

But anyway, no one ever said the devs were a English majors (at least I hope they weren't.... If they were that would explain few things though....)

Pretty sure SE's use the same description (but with 1 stat), and its common knowledge how those work. Booster CD in this game is a real-time resetting resource, all items that increase it like this state so. No issue here.
