I think if you go through the trouble of pickpocketing a running police officer and getting yourself a merit, you should be able to wear and show off that prize. Make it clothing (it can be coded as a top-layer torso clothing item, just like the 15th Ann. badge)!
EDIT - I've been alerted to the existence of the "Deputy Star" item, which is also an "other". That should be clothing as well! Heck, the item description even references it being worn ("Pinned to your chest, the deputy star should be worn with the utmost pride.").
EDIT2 - With the release of the ability to forge Police Badges, this only increases the benefit of giving them utility beyond being sold/a trophy.
EDIT3 - Deputy Star is now a collectible and, reportedly, is wearable! All the more reason to close the loop and make this other badge wearable also!
EDIT4 - To head off any comment/complaint about how making Police Badge wearable is difficult/bad since it now has a utilitarian purpose as a tool: Balaclava, Glasses, Latex Gloves, Paint Mask, and Rosary Beads are all wearable enhancers
If the Pink MAC-10 is used for the finishing hit when you defeat someone, you will receive a percentage (the special bonus percentage) of your maximum happy.
It's called "Emasculate". As it stands, this really isn't viable, even for fun. $23b for a temporary happy buff on finishing hits is very meh. However, in thinking about the Mac-10 after today's announcement, I got an idea: Poison Mistletoe! Poison Mistletoe lets you decrease a target's happy (by 25%) and you gain that same amount.
PROPOSAL: Do the same thing for the Pink Mac-10's "Emasculate" bonus. Instead of a 15% buff, make it a 15% loss to the target's happiness on finishing hits PLUS you gain that much happiness. For a start, that's exactly what emasculation is: you crush one person to make yourself feel better/superior, and this bonus (crushing another's happiness, giving yourself some joy, by emasculating them with your gaudy, baby-pink gun) fits that flavor perfectly. Plus, I think it would make the gun more interesting, at least as a troll option. Think of how annoying the happiness loss is on ODs, now you could inflict it on people at will!
As it presently stands, Private Security Firms offer the following specials:
* 1 star: Off the Grid: 72 hour bounty protection (20 jp) * 3 star: Tactical Breach: 50% Flash Grenade intensity (passive) * 5 star: Open Arsenal: Primary or Secondary weapon (75 jp) * 7 star: Regulation: 25% full set armor mitigation bonus (passive) * 10 star: Mercenary: 3 mission credits (1 jp)
The passive bonuses are nice but, pretty universally (save perhaps the occasional bounty protection?), essentially all PSF job points get spent on the 10*, Mercenary. Open Arsenal is pretty universally regarded as useless and, while I don't have firm stats, I imagine it is essentially never used (save maybe by people leaving a PSF that never made 10* who want to blow their points before they leave).
My proposal is this: Add a small (2%? 1%? 0.5%?) chance to receive an "advanced" (aka ranked war) (aka yellow/orange/red bonus) weapon from Open Arsenal.
This could be tweaked further, if necessary, to keep things balanced. Perhaps up the cost to 100 jp? Maybe limit it to only yellow-bonus items as even possible? But, however it is balanced, I think it would be an interesting yin to the yang of the 10* bonus that presently sucks up all the PSF JP. If this is added, every PSF user would face a choice: do you take the guaranteed return of mission credits for your JP or do you take a Hail Mary shot at a really high value prize with a load of points (but that probably yields, like, a Crossbow most of the time)?
I searched the Suggestion forum and see that there have been a couple proposals to alter/replace "Open Arsenal" in the past:
However, I've not seen this idea bandied about before. The last proposal actually got a response from ched. He primarily focused on the details of the faction wall issue, which is not relevant here. More generally, he did say "Not every special is meant to be entirely useful, this company has its own unique specials which are already more interesting than most other companies. Just because one is unpopular, that doesn't mean we should seek to replace it, if the company as a whole is already well balanced already." I am cognizant of this and, in response, would say that this suggestion is a more fitting solution. It does not replace Open Arsenal, it keeps it just like it is (blow a bunch of jp to take a shot at looting a nice weapon from the PSF's armory), just updated to be relevant in the modern meta.
I was perusing various honors/medals I'm chasing on YATA and realized it showed me as having made a 10k damage hit but somehow not receiving the 10k-damage-hit honor... I checked my personal stats, and it shows me as having just cleared the mark on 9/13/26?
However, I do not have the Obliteration honor ("Deal at least 10,000 damage in a single hit").
Since I have been lightly trying to hunt down this honor, I was curious how I missed making such a hit. As a result, I went back and perused all my attack logs (both sent and received) of all types (stalemate, assist, loss, leave, hospitalize, mug, etc) from 9/11-9/14 (just to be safe). Maybe I missed it, but I don't think so... The best I could find was this 9765 dmg hit on a boss:
In sum: if (1) I should have the honor, can someone award it to me properly? or (2) If it's a stats error (and I didn't actually get a 10k hit) can someone fix my stats to show the correct 'best damage made'?
"I don't understand peoples hate for "AI Slop"..."
Because AI cannot 'create' anything. It can take inputs (frequently copyrighted material, taken without permission) and mix it up/replicate it algorithmically. If you like Artist X's style and want a piece like that, hire them. Stealing their material and recreating it without permission is called theft.
