As a mother of a child born on the severe side of the spectrum of autism I'm biased. I deal with it on a day to day level and the struggles that come with it. Ignorance is bliss to those who haven't a clue to know what it's like to watch your son grow up that will never live a "normal" life. I pray they never have to know the feeling but also I'm sad for them because they can never know this form of love from someone who depends so much on you and the things that he can teach you.

I can relate with this topic Hillbilly! 

I had so much regret in my life. Whatever the case may be I also blamed anyone and anything so I didn't have to look at myself one bit. I was a half gallon a day alcoholic (chemical dependency sucks) and made very bad life choices in my teen and early adult years. From doing amateur porn (if that's what you want to call being filmed while random guys have their way with you) to dabling in almost every drug known to man just to numb the pain that I could never live up to the potential I knew I had.

That being said, as of now I don't regret any of my dark past because it's given me the strength I have today. (2 years clean and sober Aug. 4th woo hoo!) I have the benefit of knowing harder times than a lot of people out there and can remain calm in very hectic situations. 

I didn't think I was going to live to see 30 at the rate I was going so everyday I wake up is a freaking miracle. Bad shit happens and it's inevitable but it can always be much worse.
