Well we used to have wars, not the sort of war you have now but one where you could kill factions. They were fun as your faction was on the line. Drug cool down was much shorter and there was no stat caps. Attacking was easier, in fact back then life was sweet but the game has evolved.

People started complaining about how the players a year or two older than them would mug them or attack their faction (For some strange reason lots of new players thought that playing a game about crime and gang fights shouldn't include crime and gang fights, I've never been able to work that one out) That's when the game saw some major changes to try and level the playing field. That's never going to happen. You start at the bottom and you have two choices, either pay a load of real life cash to build your stats quickly or do what most of us did/do. Login several times a day and train train train.

The game does not have an upper limit on stats that I'm aware of and some players have committed a huge chunk of their life working hard at the game to get into the top ranks. Why do they do it? Personal satisfaction, fame, glory take your pick. The game offers an escape from reality, a way of venting a bit of aggression after a bad day at work/school/with the kids and also you do get to meet players from different countries and backgrounds .

Most of the older players that are still active have got addicted to this game, we bitch about changes we don't like but we are still here. Looking at your profile you've been here 4 years ish so something is keeping you here. Work out what and you've answered your own questions.

39th were the 4th faction formed when factions were introduced into the game. For a long time we used to have "The oldest warring faction in the game" On our banner. 39th is older than Rapid hell it's older than most players that are still active. IIRC Edwingi is the oldest still active player from those early days.

I really don't know what all the fuss is about. It used to be that chains required all targets to be in the war base and you had to hosp for the respect, the servers went down every night for a backup and when they were up lag was a real pain and still factions put in 10k plus chains HT, 39th, JFK to name but a few. People were fighting back and trying to screw long chains then and I know I'm probably getting a little senile these days but I used to find it fun.

Players want it spoon feed to them these days without having to make the effort and spend the time. It's the fact that it is so bloody hard to do that gives you the sense of achievement!

Is this the beginning of the end of Torn? · · 10 likes

I think the point is that it takes time to build your stats. It's a commitment in both time and money and then to have your strat effectively thrown in the bin tends to pi$$ you off. Look at -Knights- (237692) For many years a great 39th chainer. He really focused on Def and was a serious tough nut to hit. Then Ched altered the way things worked and any n00b could hit him. It made him so despondent after all the time and effort he put in that he retired.

I'm not a great fan of sudden changes to attacking and war. If they must bring such changes in then do it gradually by altering the algorithm rather than the current method of big bang. No stealth is a serious change to faction wars.

The problem with April 1st is that not everyone is in the same time zone
