The Neris try to achieve a form of "hierarchy" in their colony. +2 to Socialization Aside from that, in their newly achieved territory (the ocean) they try to increase their number faster than they are eaten by bigger predators. +3 to Reproduction/Breeding.
Meanwhile, the Neris focus on reproduction and socialization to build an ant-like hierarchy (but then, in the water!). When one colony is big enough, it splits to cover a larger area with two colonies, etc....
The Neris will try to evacuate the lake entirely. The group that has been living in the river will move further into the ocean, and the rest will soon follow. They focus on their mobility to evade predators on their way, to make sure they reach their destination safely. Mobility +
@Evil_Wabbit, is there a possibility to "change" the form of the Neris through evolution, to a more pointy shape to gain benefits of their mobility and speed?
Once they arrive in the ocean, they focus on breeding to gain territory in this huge new living room. Multiplication/Speed of Breeding + The sick and wounded that arrive in the ocean, are treated by the others of their species, through merging and splitting of cells (if that is possible) in order to regenerate as a group. Regeneration +
The Neris try to widen their food selection, instead of just the plant-like cells they consumed before. In order to catch bacteria and other new cells they use their extraordinary speed and in order to escape from bigger predators they use their chemical detection and speed as an escape mechanism. Mainly focussing on feeding on tiny organisms and reproducing.
I assume it's each one's decision. You don't have to spread out your abilities amongst all skills, you can just focus on the ones you deem most interesting to your species, right?
The Neris learn that they should spread out more, in order to share resources. A group of them reaches a fungi colony but uses it's chemical senses to stay on a safe distance, while consuming potential leftovers from dead bodies that float through the water. Due to this situation, the Neris learn how to work together and live as a Society. Primary: Socialization (+2 ?) Secondary: Multiplication (+1 ?)
These are the specials: - Regeneration - Damage Resistance - Poison Resistance - Multiplication / Speed of Breeding - Socialization - Fear Factor / Ability to inflict fear
The Neris try to go up a little higher in the lake, using a low level of optical detection to notice the amount of light - in order to determine how high/low they are in the water. After a while they discover a river (the one to the ocean) and decide to focus their "society" of micro organisms there. Since most creatures use the river to travel to/from the ocean, it seems like a good place to hang out and feed on passing small critters, while at the same time always have one safe way out for which they can use their speed.
In particular, they try to form "clouds of Neris" that can cover up slightly bigger creatures (up to 0,5 cm = up to 0,2 inch). This way, they try to make territory in the river and the river delta.
