It's a great faction to be in.

Hi,

I joined Torn a little before last years elimination started. I was a complete noob but I had a lot of fun (even though I was perma-hospd for the most part). I was lucky to be on the best team of that competition, that is, Mountain Men.

I was glad I was given the opportunity to join MM again this year, still a noob, still a weakling, but certainly stronger than before. I joined MM without a second though the moment I saw it was an option. It was sad to see the great imbalance of force regarding PP and it quickly became evident that it was going to be impossible to beat them. It was still a possibility to get to second place.

After some time, it became clear that most teams had about the same feeling. We were competing for 2° and in the end it would be PP the one who dictates who stays and who leaves.

This all changed with the introduction of Duke. Everyone saw how PP score sank. There was hope to get 1°. The problem was that we were being quite heavily focused by most other teams, and while PP was no longer a threat (or that we thought) then we could focus in bringing them down. Starting with OG, as they were the ones hitting us the most. At the time, the competition was pretty much divided between MM+RF and the rest, with the exception of PP which was struggling to stay in and GA with whom we had some sort of ceasefire. We just had to focus on OG and so MM and PP had, for some time, shared interests. At one point GA started attacking us so we figured that we should take them down as well.

This is, in my opinion, where we made a tactical mistake. I think this was the time to focus on PP as I think they hadn't figured out how to outplay Duke yet.

But we didn't, we focused on GA and took them down. We had big expectations to win this, however after GA elimination we saw how powerful PP was, even with Duke "holding them down". It became evident that we would not be able to beat them. So we decided to stop our current plan (that at that time was to focus on ninjas and nerdz as they were our biggest enemies left) and started focusing on PP. It was pointless, we hardly made a dent on their score and it was not possible to get them eliminated. We tried for another elimination day but then, with even reduced firepower, and with pacifists still at our back, we fell and got eliminated.



Regarding the Duke inclusion to the competition, even if I think it was not the best way to handle the issue (I think a team reshuffle before elimination started was the healthiest way to go) I do feel like it made a positive impact as everyone regained their hope and the whole thing became an elimination competition again.



Congratulations to everyone in MM, we lost but we fought the good fight. Congratulations as well to PP, who figured our how to outplay Duke and crush everyone. I am sure I will take part of the competition again next year, and I hope I can be much more helpful than I was this year, even though I am not completely embarrassed of my hit count, it's nothing to be really proud of either.

Ok Duke, time to turn the heat up full blast to like fifty...

If you're doing that please only hosp their onliners and top hitters, otherwise you will be helping them not get hit by other (not eliminated) teams
