Screenshot with devtools set to blurred vision. Notice how Catch me if you can and the description and join buttons are readable but the players name is not.
The top of the chat box can disappear past the top of the screen.
How to reproduce:
Set a larger chat height (250% in the picture).
Shrink the browser window or increase zoom. (175% on 1080p screen pictured)
Problem:
The name of the chat, the close button and part of the scrollbar disappears past the top of the screen.
Expected behavior:
The chat doesn't go outside the screen. If I set a larger chat to fit more history I expect it to be larger but only up to the available space. I still want access to all of the chat functions.
Chrome on Windows 10.
Chrome on android; increase chat height for easier reading in portrait, switch to landscape - same issue.
Now that I think of it this issue is more annoying on the smartphone.
Possible solutions:
I'm not good enough with responsive css but things like this can be solved. Maybe max-height or something?
Thanks for your work to keep improving Torn. Have a good day.
I thought this was going to be about washing live chickens. I never wash chicken, I don't see washiing deep frozen chicken doing much. The chicken would just get a layer of ice from the water.
Brave is based on chrome, it might count under that label. My User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Brave Chrome/89.0.4389.114 Safari/537.36
I understand that you don't want to support niche extensions and browsers. Also very few people don't use mouse or touchscreen. I have some hand pain and don't want twist my wrist back and forth between mouse and keyboard, but I'm still able to use the mouse I only avoid it.
Using plain Chrome without any extension. I can't find any way to click use using the keyboard.
The problem is <div class="use active">use</div> isn't anything that can be focused.
If it would have used a <a>, <button> or <input> it would have automatically got the correct accessiblity properties, focusable:true, role:link or role:button <div class="use active"><a href="#">Use</a></div>
I think some blind people play torn, perhaps screenreaders have a way of clicking on things despite them not being clickable?
Feel free to mark this wontfix if it is to much work for little benefit, but I don't see what is the benefit of using a <div> styled to look like a <a>, instead of a real link or button.
I too play in bad contrast and visibility sometimes and would love it if not color alone conveyed information. For example the chat tabs could show a envelope icon or number of unread messages in bold to the right of the icon and name.
If I hover over other things I can select the ones that have role set to link or button, not generic. People only using tab to navigate instead of an extension can only select things that are keyboard-focuable.
I am using:
Windows 10
Brave browser
Vimium extension to select links without having to tab 200 times.
I have tried disabling torn tools, no difference.
Other issues:
I can't open the faction chat, probably the same issue.
When navigating using tab or the browsers search function:
Many links can't be focused with keyboard.
Focus isn't being shown. I suspect the styling accidentaly removes the dotted broder around the focused element. For accessibilty preferably the focus should be over the top with a thick blue border instead of the default tiny dotted gray one, see facebook and discord where the highlight is much stronger when using keyboard/tab compared to mousing over a button.
The item page and the item market is accessible, but in baazars I can't select the items.
When typing this post only the post and source buttons are accessible, which is good enough for me but a issue for someone that doesn't type bbcode.
If the bios is locked so you can't change settings or boot order you can serch for lists of backdoor bios passwords online, most computers have that so can get into the bios and remove the password.
