I have always been very invested into the crime gameplay. When Crimes 2.0 went out, it was an amazing new continent to explore ! In parallel, I deeply thought if I would ever be able to get the #250 in an HoF merit. Then I looked into the data.
It was february 2024, I was around 70k offences, and the #250 was at 150k-ish. I was already at 100 on every crime, in a 10* pub, 145 max nerves total and I was wondering if I was able to get it with this. My initial plan was to go for 2n crimes for a month or so and see if the goal was doable. The maths are simple : I get around 400 nerves a day with beer and refill, so I can do 200 crimes a day. I'm looking at the top 10, they are all around 200 crimes a day.
That's right, there is in crimes 2.0 a 1 nerve crime. AND the top 10 are still on 200 crimes a day, so they do not work with it. So why ?
The "collect" button from Bootlegging is an almost 100% success crime which provide 20$ by DVD sold. You can do it for every single DVD for a glorious 20$ for 1 nerve. But this button is only active if at least 1 DVD was sold on the online store, which semi-randomly happens every few dozens of seconds. Let's round it to 30s.
Now, if one would use that, he would be able to get 400 crimes a day and even more, but it would takes litteraly hours of clicking a 30s cooldown button for months.
GUESS WHO DID THAT ???
So today, I can proudly say I reached the 250th spot of offensers, by losing around 4h every day clicking a button which gives a few tens of dollars every time, for about a year !
I recorded my data, that I noted manually every few days. Feel free to check yourself ! I had 2 main break, when Forgery and Scamming went out, because I wanted to push those crimes before coming back to this. So a few stats :
I went from 70,061 offenses to 182,614
I did a total of 103,888 bootlegging crimes
My average was 322.7 across the total time
My nnb went from 80 to 90 during the whole duration. I now have 155 max nerves total.
I am editting because there are quite a few things I will add.
Thanks to my family faction as a whole, because it's just generally fun to play in Flatline/Darkline (and every other factions in the faction). It's the difference with playing because you have to, and playing because you want to. Specially, I will thank Fubuki who proposed the expression Flatline brain wave to describe how I played for 1 year, and it's completely fitting.
He does not play anymore, but still thanks to MCSH who was incredibly supportive for months.

A few comments
I do not know if this kind of play should be encouraged, discouraged, or stayed as it is. I have seen at least two other players doing exactly what I did. It is a way to beat Robinhood and his 1st spot, but reaching 1 MILLION offenses might take 8 to 10 years and dude would have still 10 more years of crimes at that point.
I think there is an issue with the critical fails on collect. As I am one of the very few players who did more than 100 of this crime, I have a pretty unique amount of stats on it. I had exactly 3 critical fails between the 20th of february and the 2nd of novembre. Then, from the 3rd of november to today, I had 18 more of them. It seems very clear that something changed, but I can't figure out if it's on my side or not.
I personnaly think there should be a HoF that rewards "actual" criminal activity. Probably something such as Criminal experience. Because as it is, the Offense HoF is just a few people who cheesed the system using the most useless crimes. Ok, let's keep it that way, but please allow me to work toward the criminal activity, and reward it somehow !
I am no one. Not a leader, not a big player, just a random dude who joined elim for tokens. I am in Wolf pack, and I tried to follow orders while we were at the top, then the bottom, the the top again, and then now. I enjoyed the drama as much as a forum leecher could, then did my hits.
But we, the wolf pack, were in a dominant position with an amazingly strong team for a good time. And suddenly, Rain men, our main opponent, is zeroed with no chance to get out of there in sight.
And suddenly, everything changed. Everyone is targeting us, the Rain men are increasing their tickets, and THEY PASS ABOVE US AT 3 LIVES! We are down here, hundreds of tickets behind everyone, and we're getting hits from everywhere. We kind of survived by throwing Totally boned into the fire (sorry guys...), but we are now in a difficult position, with Rawring thunder at the top farming thousands of tickets, Rain men above with their 3 lives, I have absolutely no idea what Sleepyheads are doing. I have no idea who will won. It's incredible.
Also f**k the drama. The competition part is cool. Don't insult people.
I am a casual but regular player. It means I will lose natural E every day and miss to take my 3rd xanax most of the days, but I'm still active every day for the last 3 years. At some points, I noticed that I could shine on crimes. I got into a Pub, read a lot of guides and bought a lot of beers.
Now, on january, my faction asked us to write our year-long goal in our forum. This is my post :
My main goal is to increase my Criminal Experience so I end in a Political assassination team. This probably won't be this year, but I'm here for the long game. So right now, I am at 26,170 effective arsons (EA), including 42 planes hijacked, and more than 13,000 arsons. I can get 800 arsons a month. One plane hijacked is estimated at 150 EA, and i usually have 2/3 of success. It's also 2 weeks of preparation. So I can get 2x2/3x150 = 200 EA a month. My goal is to get 11,500 more EA in a year than right now, because I might have a few period where I'm not arsoning as much as I could. So 37,670 arsons on 2023/01/12 ! And PA in 2023 !
On the same day, someone in the faction noticed this post about the possibility to get into a PA team with a total of 150k EA, even less. So I was there, with my 26k EA, dreaming of getting in a team 15 to 18 months later, when suddenly my faction decided to test a "lower" team with me as a 4th.
I reached my 18 months goal in 8 hours.
It was awesome, but we still needed to see if we would be successful. So for a week, I was planning on what to do in case of success. And a success it was ! So I hope my fellow Flatliners remember that time, because I organized an almost 3 months long giveaway where I gave to almost everyone in the faction something. It was awesome. I can't even describe how awesome it was.
But after the first sucess, my team had 3 losses in a row, and decided to reorganize without me. So I was back at step one : my original goal to get the thousands EA I needed to come back. After all, with those new informations, the PA should be way sooner than next year.
And the next step was last week. We have a few people with decent Criminal Experience, so our leaders decided to create a new experimental PA team. With me. So it finally happens. But that team is not exactly splitting the other PA participants across other. I am first in the creation list. Which means I am the highest CE in the team, the team leader. 6 months ago, I joined a PA team which was not powerfull enough to keep me in as a 4th, and last week, I was the number 1. My ultimate goal.
I tried to keep my head cool, thinking we will just try to reach a 25% success. So at least one this month. It will probably not be the first, even if the team is good enough.
I'm sitll over the moon. I thought I reached this goal probably two years from now. I still don't know exactly what to do to celebrate this, and I'm open to ideas (but I already spent a lot in my giveaway, I won't do that again !).
Thank you to Flatline as a whole for the friendship, the advises, the jokes and the support. For the competition on the arsons/month, the fun we have while warring/chaining, my 3 teamates who I did not ask permission for this so their names remain hidden and so many more...
Also, an important point : Flatline is giving back 100% of the money earned to the team. Join us, and maybe you could be the leader too !
Just so I understand clearly what you said : Google has a translation tool they spent years to polish, but there are issues with it so you're asking Torn to develop a better one among everything else going on with the chat ?
I just checked the forum as I reached the exact same point, congratulations ! Personnally, I took one year of my life to get into the HoF 250 for criminal offenses. It sure was a weird ride, as I spent something like 6h of my life everyday collecting my DVD's online store for 1 nerve. Good luck if you're aiming for that !
A huge GG guys, it's so satisfying to find a faction with matching stats and activity. Your organization was on point. Your epic Defense of the Holy Chain will be sang for the years to come.
I got one ! I happened to reach the HoF in offenses by only burning DVDs for about a year. For a year, I spent 6 to 9 hours a day clicking on "COLLECT", a crime which cost only 1 nerve but needs a new DVD to be available, which happens in average every 30s.
I am pretty sure no one in Torn was dumb enough to do this, and 100% certain if there are others that did it 100k time, they are not 9 of them.
My goal this year was to reach the 5% merit. I actually hoped to drop soon so it would be easier. we did, and it was. But honestly, I saw a lot of good will and good fight, and once it began, I wanted to hope with you guys ! It was really fun, thanks again !
That's very impressive, gg to you all guys ! Would you mind giving us some info of how you reached this ? Do you all have an energy giving company ? What was your chain watching strategy ? How many books were used ? Anything interesting to share ?
My main crime is bootlegging at 103,896. For 1 year, I clicked on the 1n "collect" button every 30s when a DVD was burnt, 3 to 6 hours a day. It was awefull and glorious. My intention was to reach the HoF and get the corresponding merit, and I did in february. Since then, I've reached 10k everywhere outside of Disposal, and am currently working on that. I honestly do not know what to do with my nerves, now, so I'm trying different things.
Ok guys, it's been a great war. We fought like hell (well, not me, the others did!). You guys are obviously among the big boys, and it's a pleasure to show you the best we can do.
But once, I'd like to be the big boy where I'm impressed by the small guys, just to see what it looks like !
