So, recently, I was thinking about Display Cabinets. They're a utility that can be bought for 100 points and they're advertised as a place to show off your collectibles, your rare items, your books, and anything else that'd otherwise be hard to obtain. Their purpose was to be vanity; the ability to display uncommon items as a sort of badge of honor.
But this isn't how display cabinets are used. Right now, they're a click-off link on our profiles; players have to actually show an interest in seeing your stored items and click off your profile to the Display Cabinet page to view them, and a majority of players really have no interest and no reason to do this. Even with my closest friends, I don't generally care enough to go to a separate page just to see the crap they've collected.
But display cabinets cost 100 points. They should have more utility than just being a storage space for trash, and should certainly have the use that they were intended to have - displaying cool items. Which is why I came up with the idea to allow players to "feature" six items in their cabinets and have them appear on our profiles. I used Kayla's profile as an example here:
I thought for a while about how this'd be balanced. If we allowed players to show their entire cabinets, it'd break profiles and we'd have people with huge boxes of 500 items cluttering up the page. But if we only allowed people to hold a few items in their cabinets, it wouldn't allow anyone to use them as a utility storage space to get rid of junk. That's why I believe we should allow players to "feature" six of their top items to take up a single line on their profiles; the cabinet can still be used as storage, but items can still be displayed proudly, front and center above profile sigs, without cluttering up the page.
Myself and a few people in the 39th Street factions, with the assistance of Black Statues, are in the process of building up a Detective Agency. We're looking to do it fairly quickly, and so I'm looking for employees that can come close to, or surpass, the effective stat requirements for each of the jobs listed.
You'll have access to incredibly strong Specials, specials that will likely have a very high monetary return value and will be easily marketed to other players for profit, as well as the ability to Arrest players and claim some of their criminal income. Wages will increase as the company grows and makes more profit; as we reach higher ranks and unlock more powerful Specials, you will have more opportunities and more methods as an employee to make large sums of money through use of these abilities, such as restricting travel for other players, jailing players on request, checking blacklists, and viewing faction and job history.
Wage is negotiable; higher stats means more pay. 30k+ INT is a must in order for you to be paid a wage. Note that wages may decrease as more specials become available allowing employees to earn profit from selling Specials or making Arrests. Chat me if interested.
One Star: View someone's employment and faction history. (2 points)
Three Star: Arrest players, jailing them and claiming some of their Crime profit as your own.(No cost)
Five Star:Check who has friend-listed or blacklisted you. (100 points)
Seven Star:Restrict travel by extending a target's flight times. (50 points)
TenStar: View a list of the most wanted, and most highly rewarding arrest targets. (25 points)
There's an old tradition among gang members, mercenaries, assassins and even hunters that you always save the bullet casing of your first kill. Scored my first 26 meaningful kills for HAKA today so I figured I'd get in on this contest, head out to the shop and mill some 5.56 into a little pendant.
Don't have my stamping tools or my press right now so I couldn't go full artistic and properly engrave it like the one in the back, but hey, I had a Sharpie.
Oh look, a hate thread posted by a person we just kicked for being in Fed for multis.
The chain broke because nobody was watching the counter and we got sidetracked with no way to be notified. MMCP and their allies hit us maybe twice during the entire 24-hour chain for three or four hosps each time. They had absolutely no effect on it whatsoever.
Rainbowsaurus is the only one I've given a 10 so far, that shit was awesome.
I really hope I didn't put on fifty pounds of military gear, get in the bathtub with a rifle and ask my visibly disturbed and confused roommate to get a picture of me just to be beaten by dudes holding up pieces of paper by their faces...
Some of us might care if this was anything other than a blatantly obvious troll attempt or if you actually posed any sort of threat.
The fact that you're not getting any more than a couple people to hit you two or three times should say wonders about how little any of us really give a s**t because you're not worth the time or energy. Pretty sure I can speak for most of us when I say that we're also not stupid enough to continue giving you the attention you want. Easier to just let you bluster and brag on the forums until you realize nobody is on your side or takes you seriously and you can f**k off again.
The correct answer is that you shouldn't be running a company at your age and experience because you won't be able to get it to a high enough company rating to really make money from it. You'd be better off working your own stats and joining an established company, but...
1: Not necessarily. Having more employees will affect your Environment and having multiple employees in the same job position will bring down the effectiveness of all of them based on the stats of the lowest few.
2: That is correct. When someone joins, their efficiency is effectively zero until it recalculates at the start of a new day, meaning you'll see a large drop in efficiency in the day before their efficiency is actually calculated.
3: Some positions in certain companies don't bring in any money for the company, but rather will make sure your company runs efficiently. Secretaries and cleaners, for example, will bring in more customers or keep your Environment up to allow you to make more money but will not directly contribute very much (or anything) to the income.
4: Advertising boosts popularity which gets you more sales which gets you more money.
Just a small issue - I noticed after the implementation of the new bounty link (where it links to specifically that player's bounties, rather than the front page of the listings) that this only works when on the user profile.
Clicking the bounty icon under a user's name when in Forums and other places (personals, faction, etc.) still links to the front page of listings rather than to that person's specific bounties.
A few days ago, I asked for some temp weapons to be given to me in bulk from my faction during a chain so that I could go for the finishing hits merit. Because it's not possible to loan more than one at a time, Kayla ended up "loaning" me two individual HEGs and then just giving me about 250 from the armory which went into the same stack as the two loaned.
I equipped them and upon finishing my temporary hits merit, went to donate the last of the remaining HEGs back into the faction, but after doing so, was left with a single HEG remaining in my inventory from the stack. I can't trash it because it says that there isn't enough of the specified item in my inventory, I can equip it but it won't appear in attacks as able to be used, and it says "no items found" when I try to put it in the armory or send it to another player.
I wouldn't have reported it for any other company, but since this is a newer addition to the game, I figured there may be a problem.
Company experience, as far as what I know of it, shouldn't contribute to my company being held back from ten stars for almost eight weeks when we've been in the top-ranked agencies since the company type existed, and we've sat higher in profits for that entire eight week timeframe. It'd make sense if my Agency was just recently made, but it's always been near the top, since day one. There shouldn't be a huge differential in experience between us and some of the ten-star companies.
Perhaps company experience gain is broken with DAs or something?
Not sure if this is a bug or not, but it was suggested I report it. I've owned a Detective Agency since minutes after they were released, ten or so months ago. Since that day, my company has been within the top ten ranked Detective Agencies on the game, and steadily progressed up the listings to nine stars. It's never been more than one star below the companies listed at the very top three or five.
Over the last number of months, we've been sitting at nine stars despite having a higher weekly income than four other ten-star agencies. This has gone on for almost eight weeks, with us having more profit and yet not increasing in ranking, and with other ten-star agencies having low profits but not going down in ranking.
Since this is a newer company, I'm just wondering if this can be investigated for a possible bug. I'm aware of company experience playing a factor, but I don't think it'd work to the extent of us being held back for almost two months especially with the age and history of the company.
It makes sense how it is. You're taking a mission from Duke, who is meant to be an NPC, and you have a set time to complete it. He's not going to know if you complete it until you report back to him, so it's not "done" until you tell him it's done. Just plan ahead so you're not finishing it last-minute.
I like this, except that as other people have already said, your top six items may be different than the items you want to "show off" on your profile. That's why I was suggesting some sort of checkbox or selection to choose six items to display, though I guess featuring the top six items in the cabinet would also work if there was some way to move them around.
Made a suggestion about the ability to feature a small number of display cabinet items and have them appear in a box on a user's main profile, allowing items to be seen without requiring a click off the page to the cabinet itself.
It'd be used the same as it is now, except you'd be able to select a few things out of that secondary storage to display on your profile. Wouldn't limit its ability to be used to store things, would just allow you to actually display a few of the things in there.
Different chain, and I'm pretty sure that was Main. A lot of us found it kinda funny, too.
Like Kayla said, Doctorn is a blessing but also a crutch. We didn't have it where it's usually a big help, and that contributed to the chain breaking, but ultimately it was still negligence and a lack of attention on our part.
That's all it was, really. A lot of us had been up nearly 24 hours with only brief naps in between, and the chain had been going smoothly since. Some of us went to bed, the rest of us were either waiting on energy regen or weren't paying attention. Simple.
Suggesting that it was MMCP or HERO that broke our chain is laughable.
