Ive recently been doing some work to develop our faction banner but have come up with a slight issue in terms of dimensions.
i note that the recommended banner size is 400x100, so have resized our banner appropriately - looks fine on a desktop, but I noted that the banner looks stretched on a mobile?
for example, on a Galaxy S8 the banner seems to appear more like 350x150 so not in proportion, and on an iPad seems to be 400x120 (so slightly taller?)
Has anyone else come across this, and is there a resolution? Do I need to just resize to the lowest common denominator? If so does anyone know what the correct dimensions should be?
I've had instances where I had mission targets that were active, but this was a case of:
Mission target was named, and was indeed inactive at the time
I left it several months as I decided to use my e to train rather than do missions, given the mission target looked tough
When I came back to the mission, the previously inactive target did become active again
I recall this particularly with a 'Safari' mission, where I figured I'd finally go to SA to hunt the target, only to find that I just had to go to the USA (i.e. Torn) to hit them with a rifle.
Some good ideas there to help make flying more interesting.
I'd be keen to see some more activities to do whilst overseas that would impact the meta game back in the city.
Some ideas in this area: Go to UK to hire some goons that will hosp someone on your return to the city for $x. An equivalent of putting a bounty on someone. You can fly to Hawaii to improve your happiness rather than rehabbing in Switzerland.
I'm experiencing a similar thing with one of my employees, where they went from full effectiveness to 0 overnight as well. Absolutely certain they've been active and doing stuff in Torn. Would be great to know if the cause is indeed they're not doing activities that requires them to use the captcha.
Probably what I've said has already been said in earlier posts, but my 'two cents':
As an aspiring younger player, I'd like to one day be competing with the top, but noting that those at the top have put years of dedication towards training, building up finances, it locks me into a certain play style to get there quicker/more efficiently to be able to compete (probably will still take a few years to even get close, and in that same time the top players will be continually growing doing the same things I have been). That difference/divide may never disappear in reality, which ultimately alienates the younger player base - I hope however that I may one day get there.
It becomes even more painful when it comes to war, where my experiences so far have been that it's about whoever has the strongest players, and the most resources to throw at it to win rather than elements such as skill, timing or understanding. It means so called 'casual' players who want to help out in a war feel hopeless and therefore don't take part because they don't see a reasonable way to participate without having lots of resources, or having spent years dedicating themselves to getting stronger.
I suppose it's only natural for the strongest to band together, but for those of us who only discovered Torn in recent years vs those who have been with it nearly from the start, it'd be nice to have a way to compete and win if we execute something perfectly without having to resort to paying for mercs or spending a fortune on revives just to keep up.
Balancing a game is always going to be difficult to help bring in new players and retain them, whilst at the same time not alienating the dedicated, older player base.
