One of the parts I've missed most about NPC were the ample opportunities for philanthropy. I have met some of my best friends on torn by telling them where to find the ammo locker. I'd like to start doing that again so I started this thread.
Whenever I'm feeling generous (don't worry, it happens often), I'll come to this thread and pick someone random to donate to.

I think there should be some way to store custom text in an item. The most obvious form of this is a written book.
Benefits:
- The reason that this would be different than the mail or message system would be that it would allow us to include a message in a parcel with the items. - There could also be a market for "rare signatures" or books that have been signed by important members of the population such as Chedburn or Bogie. - It would also allow us to produce guides and literature that, unlike the forums, would allow us to distribute among specific people only. You could start a weekly magazine and then charge $50k a week for other players to buy it. - A new city shop might be needed to provide empty books. - It would be a hope that empty books would be cheap enough that players would be able to get a fair amount of them. - It would give a way for people who have real-life writing skills to make money from their work on torn; the same way that artists benefit from making profile and banner art, and coders can make plugins and websites.
Additional Features:
- Some way to copy multiple books (written by you) for quick mass production/distribution. (Glum [2449501])
Disclaimer: To prevent hate literature from spreading, the books would all be subject to the same word filter as the chat system. Each book would also display the name and id of the person who had written it. Staff would be able to see all books and who they had been sent to. Books would have a report button to alert staff to books violating the rules. Punishments would be at staff's discretion but could include things like mutes or a book ban: the person could no longer edit or write new books.
