You hear a commotion as you enter the junkyard. Walking around to the truck lot, you see the junkyard owner chasing away a group of vandals. Someone has sprayed "Unrelenting woz innosent" on the side of a truck. Beneath the truck, you find a backpack stuffed full of spray paint! You sling the pack over your shoulder and leave before the owner returns.

While searching the junkyard: "You search the bushes near the junkyard gate. A truck pulls out of the yard and stops nearby. The driver gets out to ask what you're doing in the bushes. "Masturbating, sir," you reply. He laughs and tells you to get out of here."

As a player experience, I agree that it doesn't feel good for the game to punish us by not letting us do the thing we were just trying to do.

But also, as a narrative, the demoralization effect is weird because it is a very rare thing for Torn to tell us how our characters feel. Who's to say that my character feels demoralized from getting put in jail for an hour? Maybe my character is a hardheaded, Joe Pesci-type. One of the best things about Torn is we get to play the part of a reckless gangster, so I say out with this demoralization nonsense.

It's not clear to me if the items I'm finding are definitely useless or if they could be used in future crimes (credit card, driver's license, car battery).

I'm interested. What is your asking price? Also, would you be interested in trading (+/- $) for a 16% Powerful P90 or a 72% Quicken Springfield 1911? Both items in my display case for your perusal.

I'm just trying to steal a Jacket here!

I just experienced the same issue on the desktop version. (Using Google Chrome on a MacBook)

As you can see, the mission "worked" from a technical perspective, but doesn't make sense from a narrative perspective, and may be off-putting to some.

I got the RNG "award" today. I was active about an hour before midnight. When I opened Torn at 00:38 TCT, I had an award notification, supporting the idea that the RNG selects at midnight, but that you do not need to be online at the time.

I did not login afresh, only opened the page as per usual. To my knowledge, I did not do anything unusual in the time leading up to the award. I believe it is truly random.

Hope the RNG picks you soon too!

I gotta say, as a new-ish (<1 year) resident, I'm disappointed in the new slots arrangement. Before now, most winners were $10 bets, and it was inspiring that some dumb schmuck like me could wrangle $10 from selling Pop CDs on the corner, then walk into the Casino and win like $5 billion maybe. Inspiring, right? But now, people who slug in $10mil are like 64x as likely to win as our measly bets? Yeah, I was a Casino President for the tokens...but I'm quittin'!
