Well anyway, last week I thought I'd give it a go again after staying away for years. First day was fine, so was the 2nd and 3rd.

Then on the 4th day I Iost over 20 hands in a row (4 pushes) trying to recoup my losses until I had none to play with anymore. The game recognizes when you bet big and the odds play a new game called "let's see how long you can last, buddy". Same mechanics are present in the slots. It's no big secret, actually.
