Hey all! I'm back with more API research. I decided to take a look at company data this time around. Hopefully this 2 minute read will take your mind off of the other API and DB threads for a bit. Similar to factions, the company IDs were spread out quite a bit. There's 6917 companies (as of 4/20/2021) spread out over approximately 90,000 ID numbers. Either there's a non-linear method to assigning company IDs or a whole lot of deleted companies. Anyway, on to the data! [image: i.imgur.com] As I mentioned,there are currently 6917 total companies created, as of April 20th. 4065 of those companies (58.77%) are rated at zero stars, which can mean they're either brand new or inactive companies. The oldest company by ID is "Nameless's sport co" at ID 27, but it appears inactive. The oldest active company is "Animals" at ID 90.
As you most likely already know, there are 40 total company types. The chart above is a summary showing how many of each type of company there are. The most rare of them all is the Private Security Firm, with just 16 total companies ever created and 12 of those still active. Below is a more detailed breakdown of company types and ratings.
History of companies: I wasn't here back then, but according to the data it looks like the idea of companies was started in April of 2007. From what I can tell based on historical company creation dates, a player could start one of 18 types of companies at that time. Between then and the end of 2009, another 17 companies were added. From there Torn would go 8 years before seeing additional companies added to the list. The last one added appears to be Logistics Management in 2019. Will we see additional companies soon? Last but not least,I decided to make a word cloud out of the company names to see what, if any, trends exists around company naming. The word "Hire" (or hiring) stands out the most. Hello all, I read the GeneralDiscussion forum threads on a regular basis. However, I don't post that much, instead silently enjoying the fun and drama that is posted on a daily basis. Skimming the Torn forums has become a daily activity for me, shaping the way I think of Torn and the player community in general. That all being said,I decided to scrape some basic data from the most recent 100 pages (3000 threads) of the General Discussion forum to get a more summarized view of what everyone talks about.
Who's really starting all of these threads? 1270 players started a thread within this dataset. This would represent approximately .124% of the total player base. The top 20 thread starters made up for 32.63% of the 3000posts created.
Who creates the most discussion? Looking at the top 20 thread starters by number of replies, much of the same top 20 are still there. However, the order is slightly different.
What is everyone talking about? I took all 3000 General Discussion thread titles and threw them in a word cloud. The results are below. I've haven't been here long enough to experience Eliminations and Christmas Town, but they apparently generate lots of discussion.
Most discussed, least upvoted? We've all entered the forums looking for (or trying to avoid) the latest uber downvoted thread.While my limited dataset didn't pickup individual upvotes & downvotes I looked at the overall replies and karma associated with each GD thread in the set. What do you all think makes up a thread that has lot's of replies and low karma other than the obvious shit-post threads?
Do you think that the top posters (.124% of the player base) have a heavy hand in setting the culture of Torn?
Is DUDE actually the king of the forums?! I've seen that referenced a few times but looking at the data he's giving Andyman and CRLF a run for their money.
Do you think the word cloud sums up your Torn experience?

I think I was jailed for the wrong crime while clicking on a disposal crime to bury a firearm while at the same time being in progress on the "Clinical Precision" organized crime. I critically failed the disposal crime and was put in jail for 14 hours for "Assassination of a public official" See the logs below:

In summary, I used a blue egg to provide my character with 3X life. When I went to rehab, I noticed the extra life was erased after the rehab action. I asked bogie if this is expected behavior, and he recommended I post here to check it out.

I rehabbed at this event; the message does not state anything about gaining/losing life - 15:14:56 - 29/06/26 You rehabilitated 46 times for a fee of $9,200,000 gaining 178 happiness and reducing your drug addiction by 100.00%
After the rehab event, I noticed at some point during the return flight that my life was reset to my natural maximum of 7500/7500.
Is the resetting of the life value expected behavior upon rehab? I would assume maybe, as the function may assume less than maximum life, in which the rehab would reset it back to maximum, never considering a character would have over max value when rehabbing.
This is pretty minor, but I noticed that Jimmy's profile, profile ID 19, shows my faction newsletter history in the "recent interactions" section of the profile. I'm in 39th St. Killers, which is faction ID 19, so I guess that may be part of the reason why.
