80 to 90% destruction required
3 gas cans and stoking with the lighter to keep it creeping up over the 80% followed by dampening with a blanket while responders were on the way. Probably didn't need to do that as it stalled or slowed enough at 81%.
Notes: Money: Hacking FBI seems to have a distribution mostly in the 250-400k range. I haven't tracked this accurately but have only had 1 less than $200k and 3 less than $240k. Hacking Bank seems to be fairly even distribution across the range so far. Using points on a refill with current success rates is just profitable at 65 nerve for FBI (if I ignore the low outliers) and 75 for Bank.
Success rate: For both it feels like most fails come after running my nerve down, i'd have to go to a more granular level to check if I find the time. For FBI it seems if you do 3 or 4 in a row most fails come in that 3rd or 4th crime and for bank I rarely get to the 4th. I've started to put in a few ticks of nerve regeneration ever so often to try and spread. Could be confirmation bias but it does feel like a mechanic is in place that reduces your success rate the closer together you do them. This would tie up with the same mechanic in busting and reviving.

I've only guessed a handful of characters as I realised there would be the nerve for levels tradeoff, decided to burn nerve.
It takes a few seconds for your rig to unlock and you get a 5x5 grid available to you to build your rig. All components are 1x1 except for the PSU which is 1x2.
Going over power consumption gives partial MIPS, it doesn't cut the rig out but doesn't give the full potential. Haven't tested cracking while over power though.
Was only able to crack once before I ran out and I had a brute forcing strength of 2 at the time. Last 2 letters I had to unlock were brute forced in one attempt. It generated some heat with the most overheated component at 25%.
Here is what I landed on to start with when it refreshes.
Been a while since I checked in on these threads. Point of note to your average income per nerve I think you might need to check your numbers. I've got you as just under 18k per nerve including jails from checking your spreadsheet. Looks like you might have 6 hacks or thereabouts for that 90 nerve rather than 5?
That tallies much closer with my now 17.7k per nerve on FBI hacks.
To update stats in general i'm running at:
1356 hacks 1277 success 79 jails 94.17% success rate (been rising slowly but surely for a while)
I've had a couple of 4 jail days and a string of 3 per day for 3 days. I've seen jail rates go up when i've OD'd a couple of times recently. Also had a string 8 days without a jail (>130 hacks) other than getting arrested twice for about 4mil a pop.
Anecdotally, while chasing drug merits, there seems to be an increase in success rate even from just taking shrooms and LSD on a regular basis, would imply there might be a happy breakpoint that helps somewhere a bit over my base 4500 happy.
Now i've said all that i'll probably have a 5 jail day in my near future.

From my single double character crack it looks like it is the same amount of XP per nerve (it doesn't look like I got 2 cracks worth of XP) but sample size of 1 so we'll see.

Moments after listing a database of 10,196 credit card numbers online, you receive an urgent message."Delete the listing and I'll offer. Mail me when you've done it," it reads. You do as they say and the anonymous person replies with an offer of $215 per set of credentials. The only catch is that the buyer wants to receive the files physically. You accept the terms and transfer the card details onto a flash drive. The buyer texts you the dead drop coordinates and you deposit the drive in a safe place.Your buyer sends through the payment, which is good as you planned to wipe the drive remotely if they screwed you. SUCCESS $2,192,140
The junkyard has only recently been emptied, but you're feeling lucky today, so you head in regardless. You make your way toward where the electronics are usually dumped. There's a shifty-looking guy emptying a grocery bag of stuff onto the floor. You hide and watch as he makes a special effort to conceal one item in particular within an old VHS player. When he leaves, you smash open the tape machine and find a high-speed DVD drive! As you exit the junkyard, you see the man bent over a cop car as another officer rushes in.You avoid eye contact and make a plan to format this drive as soon as you get home.

Ched would have been better off saying it is a rough approximation but instead gave us a lot more than he needed to, probably TMI. It might model it to a degree but it is definitely off. It is what it is and we'll work with it.
