Hello guys,

In a previous post, I briefly mentioned a small side project of mine: a TornGO CLI, which I originally built just for fun and equipped with one or two basic features.

As I am currently learning Golang, I wanted to take on a slightly larger project to deepen my understanding of the language. While working with APIs, I quickly noticed that making HTTP requests often involves repetitive boilerplate code and can become quite verbose, especially when dealing with many endpoints and query parameters.

This observation led me to the idea of building TornGO, a Torn API wrapper written in Go.

The Problem

Even a simple request to the Torn API requires manually assembling URLs, managing query parameters, performing the HTTP request, and handling the response.

Below is a minimal but real Go example that fetches user ammo data using a direct HTTP request:

While this works, it already mixes URL construction, request handling, and output logic in a way that does not scale well when more endpoints or parameters are added.

The Idea

TornGO aims to reduce this boilerplate by providing a clean and structured API wrapper. At the current stage, the project focuses on URL creation and endpoint structure, with plans to add request execution, response parsing, and error handling in future iterations.

This project helps me learn Go while building something reusable for the Torn community. Development is ongoing, and functionality will be expanded step by step.

I do not know whether this is what is actually needed, whether I am even doing it the right way, whether it provides any real benefit, or whether I am simply making something that is even more boilerplate and verbose. Still, I am learning from it, and perhaps it will be useful to some of you as well.

I plan to release the GitHub package as soon as the project reaches a reasonably acceptable stage.

yeah i also missed some of the christmas town, it's just a burden at this point, when you have everything, then you are just forced to play same old 5 mini games.

it's just a burden and not engaging or something special, christmas town needs some QoL updates, for god sakes just remove the "Are you ready" 5 second cooldown between the round of the games.

Small bug/problem in documentation.

As of documentation:

Some modifiers are indeed int32, but some come as floats. 

Maybe change the docs to represent the real value?

Hello Torn citizens,

I’m currently learning a bit of Go, and since I always need a small real project to actually get things into my head, I came up with the idea of programming a TornGo.

It’s a terminal-based tool (currently only for macOS or Unix-based systems). I’m not entirely sure about Windows, but I think it should work there as well. It allows you to interact with the API and get information about your Torn character directly from the terminal.

At the moment, you can only view bars and events, but I might add other features, like:

• Quick net worth display

• Total inventory net worth

• Calendar?

• Whatever you suggest :D

If this gets traction and you’re genuinely interested, I can also release it with a tutorial on how to install it and make it available through the terminal.

So basically, it’s like a FastFetch for Torn :D

Would something like this be interesting for you? If so, feel free to tell me which features you would need or want. I think it’s mostly for nerds and people who live in the CLI, but it could still be a cool tool.
