The Commission

Every institution eventually reaches a point where one person can no longer carry the burden alone.

The Continental is approaching that point.

The records are growing. The marketplace is growing. The number of disputes, transactions, and decisions will continue to grow.

Soon, The Commission must be formed.

The Commission will not be elected.

The Commission will not be purchased.

The Commission will not be assigned based on wealth, faction size, or popularity.

The first seats will be offered by invitation only.

Those invited will be players whose reputations have been built over years, not weeks. Players known for judgment, consistency, discretion, and service to the community.

Their first responsibility will be simple:

Choose who receives the first Marker.

A Marker is not a reward.

It is a responsibility.

The holder of the first Marker will help establish the standards, traditions, and expectations that shape The Continental from its earliest days.

No applications are being accepted.

No promises are being made.

For now, we're watching.

The names worthy of consideration already know who they are.

And if they don't, they probably aren't ready for the seat.

The door remains closed.

For now.

Translation:

I benefit from this behavior or don’t want it challenged, so I’m going to downplay it, shift responsibility onto you, and frame your criticism as toxic so the conversation stops.

~~~
It makes them untrustworthy is what it makes them, and this is for the players who grind hard for their networth and don’t wish to give ANYONE, “good” or “bad”, an opportunity to steal from them.
If that’s something you’re against, I don’t know what to tell you.
Anyways, Need 5-15 trusted players for beta testing.
I have prayed. And meditated on holy things in a room for years.
And if Torn is my Nineveh, then so be it.
Jonah wanted to flee. God sent him anyway.
You are free to block or ignore me, as Arafyre suggested, but I cannot pretend I was not sent with a message.
PastorJohn isn’t the standard. The Rules are.
And don’t tell me to “shut the fuck up” while simultaneously telling me to report it. I did.
I reported it. I sought mediation. I repeatedly asked for help. My reaction was punished immediately. Those pleas were not acted upon.
And how dare you tell me where I may and may not speak of Christ on a game that literally has a Church.
The audacity.
Christ is not confined to buildings.
“We cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.” — Acts 4:20
And who are you to tell another man’s servant where he may stand or fall? “It is before his own master that he stands or falls.” — Romans 14:4
So spare me the dick swinging contest and address the issue.
Read the logs.
Either repeated insults directed at my mother, sexual accusations, death jokes, and hostility while I was preaching the Gospel violate the Rules, or they don’t.
Which is it?
And if this is all just me having a victim complex, then explain why the punishment for my reaction was immediate, but the repeated pleas for help that preceded it were met with silence.
Fair enough, I’ll be a twat waffle. 😂
Call me a twat, an idiot, or whatever else. I can take it, you window licker.
What I take seriously is my mother being repeatedly called a whore, subjected to sexual insults, and used as the punchline for death jokes.
Apparently, neither is taken seriously by staff.
That’s the problem.
Are staff allowed to permit discrimination against Christians? ·
I appreciate that you’re willing to look into the nuances for yourself.
What I struggle to understand is why she wasn’t simply asked to stop.
My mother doesn’t play Torn. She isn’t involved in the game. Rule 9 says not to cause distress. Have I not calmly and repeatedly expressed distress here? Have I not repeatedly asked for help?
This isn’t even primarily about what she said anymore. Nor is it merely about whether the “Report a Staff Violation” feature is a joke without substance.
It’s about the fact that the Community Manager, when approached for mediation, couldn’t simply act like an adult and say, “Leave his mother out of it.”
What does my mother have to do with Torn?
Who raised you?
Yes, I reacted harshly. I accept responsibility for that. But the solution was always available. All that was required was for someone entrusted with authority to do the job they were entrusted to do.
That’s the part I cannot understand.
So I’m just supposed to accept unprovoked cyberbullying that isn’t even game related?
I’m just supposed to accept repeated insults directed at my mother, sexual accusations, and death jokes while calmly preaching the Gospel?
Is that what you’re telling me?
That the appropriate response was not for staff to ask her to stop, but for me to quietly endure it until I reacted, at which point punishment became immediate?
Is that really the standard?
Because if so, then just say it.
Say that players are expected to tolerate harassment so long as staff don’t personally deem it serious enough.
Say that mediation isn’t part of the Community Manager’s job.
Say that a player’s family is fair game.
Say that the Rules mean whatever staff decide they mean.
But don’t tell me the Rules matter while simultaneously refusing to enforce them.
Are staff allowed to permit discrimination against Christians? ·
Interesting.
So instead of addressing whether repeated insults directed at my mother violate Rule 10, you read my profile, speculate about my mental state, and tell me I need help.
That’s an ad hominem, not an argument.
And no, my allegation isn’t that staff attacked my faith because I “didn’t get my way.”
It’s that the hostility consistently appeared when I was openly preaching the Gospel, my repeated pleas for help were ignored, and the punishment for my reaction was immediate.
Those are facts.
Address them.
Are staff allowed to permit discrimination against Christians? ·
Did she, or did she not, make those remarks only when I was openly preaching the Word of God?
Did I not repeatedly ask for help?
Was the punishment for my reaction immediate, while those repeated pleas went unanswered?
Those are questions of fact.
If the answer to those questions is yes, then I believe there are serious questions to be asked about whether my religious expression was treated equally and whether the Rules were enforced consistently.
That is my allegation.
