Buy my overpriced points, you cheap b*st*rds! · · 1 like

Having noticed that points have fallen in price by 30% since staff removed the floor, I am offering 50 points at $100K each.  That's right, you heard me!  I dare you to buy my points at the maximum allowed price, far beyond their actual value (like most things in Torn).
Show all of Torn how extravagantly wealthy you are.  Be arrogant.  Be prodigal.
I will post the name here of whoever buys them, so that he/she may subsequently triumph over all other so-called rich players, so that he/she may say "hah!" to their faces.  And show the staff that you, for one, are serious about removing excess money from Torn.
All proceeds will go to xanax, so that one day I can hosp everyone.  Except my buyer, who I will proclaim "Greatest Spendthrift in Torn."
Accept no substitutes.  Buy your points only from RabbitBrain.

Add 5-sec immunity when released from hospital · · 6 likes

EDIT AFTER TWO YEARS OF PLAYING: Yeah, this was a bad suggestion.  But it was never properly explained to me WHY it was a bad suggestion.  The main reason is, that 5 seconds is plenty of time for even a noob to chain-save, which would make it virtually impossible to break an opponent's chain in a RW.  Another reason is that 5 seconds of immunity would eliminate the opportunity for almost-noobs to participate in a RW by hitting the opponent's noobs coming out of hospital.  Sincere thanks to all of you who tried to set me straight in a courteous manner.  But I do wish that someone had clarified to me how chains work in RWs.  CreatorX did try to explain that to me, and pointed out that greenleafs in fact once had immunity even in a faction during a RW, and it was promptly exploited by a clever faction, thus leading to the current rule.  Unfortunately, I didn't understand his answer, not knowing how chains worked during RWs (not to mention not knowing how ranking works in RWs).  But now that I understand what he meant, I want to give him a shout-out.
I'm leaving this thread active as instruction for others.  Get from it what you will.  And also to compete for "most downvoted post." And also to pointlessly stick my finger in the eye of the mid-level jerk who decided to "teach me to respect my betters" by hounding me for a week, and who then left the game within months.  I'm better than you now.  Every so often I anonymously hosp your corpse to teach it respect.  Hopefully one day you will return to active play.  :-p

EDIT: I feel like (so far) EVERY reply below (even from people trying to be helpful) is from someone who read my title but read nothing I've written below to explain it. I say this because every objection (so far) has been dealt with in my OP, or is obviously fixable. Before you kneejerk bash my idea, at least do me the courtesy to hear me out.
EDIT: Thanks all for assuming I'm an idiot who didn't realize what a war entails. I knew when I joined faction that they were going to war, and that I'd spend almost entire time in hospital. What I didn't count on was that server would have several-second lag to me, so that I kept getting put back in the hospital before I could even make 1 click to train in gym or do a simple crime. And to those claiming this would be exploited: Really? By a level 6 who's been in Torn for 5 days? Your fear is ridiculous.

This would help people (especially low-levels) who are caught in an endless loop of release, get hit, release, get hit, etc. either during a faction war or if they are being mugged of a sudden influx of money (say, from selling an item they found).
With a 5-sec immunity upon hospital release, a player would at least have time to do gym, or turn cash into items, or do a few crimes, etc. before getting hit/mugged again. I think this would help maintain interest in Torn among beginning players.
Maybe this immunity could get removed after a certain point (levels, net worth, fight stats, etc.)
Maybe this immunity wouldn't hold for similarly experienced players.
Just throwing this idea out there; wondering what experienced players think. [edit: who have actually bothered to read my post!] (And please remember that noobs are probably not experienced enough to know all the tricks that experienced players might use.)
And yes, I realize that noobs get 14 days of immunity, but you all know that 14 days in Torn is nothing. And not everyone will use that 14 days to the same advantage.

You can say USD p, USD pe, and many variations, just not USD per.

Retroactive Missions · · 0 likes

It is SO annoying when I do a mission, then go to get paid, only to realize I didn't first accept the contract.
(Yes, I am dumb.)
Can Torn's gangsters at least consider that mission complete, and give the mission credits, even if we don't get paid?
Complex missions might be hard to make retroactive, but at least look at a player's last action!

Anyway, that's it.  Feel free to hate the idea, but I'd rather you liked it.  :-)

Need a do-nothing faction that only requires OC and daily activity.  No RWs, no mandatory chains.  Wonderful things in RL are requiring my full attention, for a time.  Suggestions welcome.

Ranked War Matching and Ranks ·

I'm happy with the current system, except that I wish lopsided wars would penalize the much stronger faction for lengthening the war unnecessarily, by reducing their winnings.

I also had a "2 fire" crime with a requirement of <50% destruction.  I used ONE gasoline.  That should have done about 25% damage.  Left.  Came back to find it did 51%.

I've been getting ripped off on "total destruction" arson crimes lately.
For example, for a "3 fire" crime I used EIGHT gasolines. That was gross overkill.  But the firefighters came almost immediately after lighting, and stopped it at 98%. It's a predetermined pass/fail, and whatever you do doesn't matter.

Expectant of a treat, you pick an easy (but not shameful) target for Halloween -- 10 levels below, 2 ranks below, 1/10 your wealth, and 1/4 your play time -- only to be ignominiously defeated, without even doing one point of damage to the smug lurker, who hasn't played for three years but left his account alive just to torture you.

TLDR: If you get "stuck" in racing, there are ways to get unstuck, without changing Torn's rules.
Details:
1) Unlike racing points, racing skill is gained EVERY race (regardless of finishing position).  Higher skill gives you a better chance to win, and is capped at 100.  And most people aren't skill 100 in Class C!  So eventually your skill should overcome your crappy car(s) and allow you to start placing so you gain race points.  You DO get more skill gain from finishing at higher positions, so always finishing 6th will mean a long grind to get out of that situation, but you're not actually stuck.
2) You can get a job that offers racing points as a perk.  Those jobs are:
Car Dealership (at only level 1 you can buy race points, so this option is available to any player)
Mechanic Shop (again, at level 1 you can buy race points; plus, at lev10 you get +50% skill gains)
So this will allow you to start over with the best Class C car(s), and maximize the options on them before you win a single Class C race.
3) Torn City Motors stock will provide a 10% boost to your racing skill, if you buy enough.  So that will improve chances of winning races.

In summary: Nobody has to follow the guides, if they don't want to, and they can still succeed at racing.  But they might need to take extra measures, and/or race many more times.

And, there is this guide for which cars to use when stuck:

Because h3110 is the official owner, and is leaving.  So in 90 days the company goes bye-bye.
