Every sunday I play an AD&D campaign with my friends. It's fun to see them try and find a shortcut to treasure in my deadly dungeons, wether it is by taking the upper hand in battle, fooling or negotiating with monsters.
Some TTRPGs are more 'narrative' and or in different settings, and they are all fun in their own way, especially when you play them with friends!

Lichen are not merely fungi, they are holobionts. They are the eternal unity of a fungi and algae or photosynthetic bacteria. They need each other to live, they evolve together.
Isn't it beautiful? It's the most extreme example of mutualism. And you, and me, are also holobionts. Your gut bacteria, your family, our crops, the plants that let us breathe, aren't we all part of one big lichen?
If you like the tactical aspect of CRPGs, the entire genre of "traditional roguelikes" may interest you. They are usually free and run in any computer. Brogue and Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup (DCSS) are good for starters. They are hard as nails by design and there's no metaprogression, so it's a very rewarding experience.
If you like exploring, you will love Outer Wilds. It's a game where you have no "abilities" but the world gives you information on mechanics and places so progression is based on that knowledge, so getting spoiled before playing is ill-adviced.
LISA the Painful is a good rpg. Yeah, RPGMaker game, but it's very good, both in gameplay and story, also funny dialogues.
