The DBK isn't gonna shag you mate

Well, we made it out. 

If y'all glean nothing from this, just know that everyone who made hits on our team is on my nice list. 

Naming A Candidate

I created the Discord server and put my name in the hat for Captain pretty quickly. Building a team of advisors in the discord to at the very least manage it and start coordinating alliances. Very quickly AiR joined our team and I informed her and the advisors that if the board of advisors preferred her I would step down and support her as Captain. The year prior, me and a lot of our council had been on Lumberjacks, where AtomicGarou stole Captain from AiR and fucked some shit up, so we knew we had to pool our votes and get on the same page with our captain pick. I still don't know if they were being nice, but a lot of the council said that they liked me and AiR only had a slight edge for her experience. AiR officially accepted the position and named me as co-captain. it was floated that I was the "second in command" but in practicality just about every decision was made as a captain committee. 

With that nonsense out of the way, we were able to move forward to making friends, everyone's favorite part of eliminations!

Allying ourselves

Quickly we got our Captains working on allies. AiR reached out to leads from CR including LDP from Apex, Naaaz reached out to M leads including Apate from Sticks and Stones and Klashnekoff/Marcinko over at Inanimate Objects. 

Quickly we set up a discord server with these folks and started discussing new allies. Including leadership representation from:

*this is over the course of this discord server, even though we didn't have anyone leave until everyone pretty much left. 

With such a large group, 9 Lives, Sticks and Stones, Inanimate Objects, and Apex top leads decided to join a top 4 pact. This will become important later. 

Going into the attacking phase, we felt secure, morale was high across our 9v3 alliance and our top 4 alliance, and everything seemed to be going well.

Attack, Attack, Attack!

Going into the attacking phase, Nine Lives immediately had a good bit of trouble. Our enemies (Namely Loose Cannons and Gold Dust) were focusing the shit out of us. We switched between farming and offensive against our allies to farm tickets, but as the day dragged on an interesting trend came about. Our allies, despite being asked not to farm teams outside the top 4, seemed to be making more and more hits against us.

However, we noticed an odd trend, our good friend Apate had gone ghost, not messaging in either discord since shortly after torn new day. 

But here they were, hitting a lot of us.

How bizarre.

Snake Shit

An hour and a half before elims started, we started getting dragged down even harder than usual. When we reached out to our allies, we got a lot of crickets and a few "hmm wonder why that is". Then, as orders started leaking, it was shown that people had been told to hit us down. Every. Single. Team. Was being told to focus 9 Lives.

NIGHTWING asked us why he needed us. Even though to anyone with two braincells to rub together a 7v5 is pretty fucking better than a 7v3v2, but what do I know I just work here. 

LDP told AiR that he didn't feel comfortable in the top 4 with AiR and friends, so instead he broke his only(?) top 4 agreement. Which doesn't make too much sense to me unless he had another arrangement lined up, but what do I know I just work here. 

Prynce wanted to be our friend for a while, but after talking with Natty_boh he said no. Even though the data had been showing that the alliance Sticks and Stones had been puppeteering was targeting them after us and IO, but what do I know I just work here.

IO talked with Gold Dust for a long while, but no cigar. I actually don't know a lot about this one, but it really feels like their alliance was more out of necessity than anything, but what the hell I just work here. 

HQ taking the rigging in their own hands?

Why would Apate turn his back on the only top 4 alliance he had? Unless to join a top 3 alliance with his MHQ buddies. 

Through many sources, I've learned that RGiskard is pulling strings over at Touching Grass, and MagicDust is pulling strings over at Brain Surgeons. These leaders made a top 3 agreement with Apate. And because Apate wanted his MHQ buddies to win, he went to bat for them when it looked like they could gain control over some weak leads, instead of sticking with his original top 4. 

On it's own, MD, RG, and Apate being in a top 3 would be normal elims shenanigans, but backstabbing your friends because of it? That's fucked. 

A Cautionary Tale to High Voltage

We were not lying for our own benefit. Our team genuinely believes you lot are next once IO is gone. The signs are all there. Keeping your ticket count lower, subtly increasing attacks on you. It's all there. 

This is acting as a cautionary tale to High Voltage now, but to any of Sticks and Stones' future "allies", don't let your tickets get too low around them. They'll do anything for their top 3 scenario. From there they definitely have it decided among them.

Our team has been magnificent this year. Our incredible Captains' team: AiR, HT-Supermikk, Naaaz, Blasted, Delta, and myself apparently. 

We also had a wonderful council of Sparklez, Bumfluff, Fix, Sqweegel, and Derrick. Olesien also tried to help out but decided he was too busy and stepped back into coding assistance. 

LouWho was also a great help with comms and logistics. 

I'd love to individually thank all the rest of you, but this post is already too long, it's 3 AM, i've been writing for an hour, and I want to go to bed 😅. But all of these people still deserve a special shoutout, LouWho and Envy- helped directly make this list alongside the rest of council since I devoted a lot of my time upwards to diplomacy.
