The Torn Kindness Train Pass It Forward · · 5 likes

Torn can be a brutal place.

We scam, mug, bounty, hospitalize each other, and sometimes it feels like everyone is only looking out for themselves. That's part of what makes Torn... well, Torn.

But every now and then, someone does something unexpectedly kind, and those moments tend to stick with you far longer than another mug or war hit.

So I want to try a little experiment.

The Kindness Train.

The first person to comment on this thread will receive $1,000,000 from me. The only thing I ask is that, when you can, you pass on an act of kindness to another player. It doesn't have to be another $1,000,000.

Maybe you:

Send someone a small gift.

Donate a few Xanax or medical items.

Cover someone's loss.

Surprise someone who's having a rough day.

Or simply make someone else's day a little better.

After you've done your good deed, come back here and post the event log or a screenshot (if appropriate) showing that you passed it forward or, if someone unexpectedly showed kindness to you, share that too.

The goal isn't to get rich.

The goal is to see how far one small act of kindness can spread through a game that's usually known for being ruthless.

Who knows? Maybe this thread dies after one person...

Or maybe, weeks from now, dozens of players will have made someone else's day because of one small gesture.

Let's find out.

Be the reason someone smiles today.

First comment gets $1,000,000. The Kindness Train starts now.

BUYER BEWARE My Experience with Whiskas · · 6 likes

don't usually make forum posts like this, but I think it's worth making the community aware of what happened.

I contacted Whiskas to buy Xanax. We discussed the quantity, agreed on 312 Xanax, and they initiated the trade themselves.

I added $250,000,000 to the trade, expecting to complete the purchase.

Instead, the trade was cancelled.

Just moments later, I was mugged by the same player for $28,975,004.

I've attached screenshots showing:

• Our conversation agreeing to the trade. • The trade being initiated. • The 312 Xanax being added. • My $250m being added. • The trade cancellation. • The mugging immediately afterwards. • Their response afterwards: "greed gets the best of us."

I'm not asking anyone to attack or harass this player. I'm simply sharing my experience so others can decide for themselves whether they want to trade with them.

If you're carrying a large amount of cash, be cautious. Consider using safer trading methods or taking steps to reduce the amount of cash you're holding before arranging deals.

If anyone else has had similar experiences, I'd be interested to hear them.

1000 Days in Torn A Long Road A Lot of Lessons · · 36 likes

Today I hit the milestone of 1000 days played in Torn and honestly it is one of those milestones that makes you stop and look back whether you plan to or not.

When I first joined Torn I had no clue what I was doing. I trained inefficiently wasted money on things I should not have trusted too easily and learned very quickly that Torn does not care if you are new. It will punish bad decisions just the same. Back then everything felt overwhelming. Stats gyms crimes factions wars the economy. It was a lot to take in and I definitely made more than a few mistakes early on.

But that is also what makes Torn different from most games. It does not rush you. Progress is slow sometimes painfully slow but over time it stacks up. You log in every day you train you learn you adapt. One day you look back and realise you have come a long way not just in stats but in how you understand the game.

Over these 1000 days Torn has been a constant. I have had periods where I was fully locked in and grinding hard and other times where real life came first and I pulled back. I have been in wars I was not ready for taken losses that stung and made decisions that did not always pan out. I have also had moments where things clicked where planning teamwork and persistence actually paid off.

At some point Torn stopped being just about numbers on a profile and started being about people.

I have been part of factions that helped shape how I play and others that taught me what I did not want from the game. Going factionless for a while gave me perspective. Starting and running my own faction was a whole different challenge altogether. Leadership in Torn is not about having the biggest stats or the loudest voice. It is about consistency communication and dealing with problems when they come up because they always do. Wars recruitment inactivity drama if you have led a faction you know exactly what I mean.

Torn also teaches patience in a way few games do. You cannot rush your way to the top. You cannot skip the grind. Burnout is real and taking breaks are sometimes the smartest move you can make. The game will still be here when you get back.

Thank You Where It All Started

I want to take a moment to say thank you to Knockout the very first faction I ever joined.

Knockout was where I learned the basics how factions really work what wars are like and how important teamwork is in Torn. As a new player having a place that helped instead of judged made a massive difference. I probably did not realise it at the time but that early experience shaped how I approach the game and how I treat newer players now.

A special thank you to

Stumptronic [2815308]

Blackraz [2926598]

Digimento [2926904]

Fiofragen [1882916]

Whether it was advice patience or simply setting a good example you helped me more than you probably know. I genuinely would not be at 1000 days without those early lessons.

What Torn Has Taught Me

If there is anything Torn has taught me over these 1000 days it is this

Progress in Torn is slow but it adds up

Stats matter but reputation and consistency matter more

The community can be brutal and also incredibly supportive

Not every loss is wasted if you learn from it

Everyone burns out sometimes and that is okay

I am not a top ranked player not a billionaire and not pretending I have won Torn but I am still here. Still logging in. Still training. Still learning. And still enjoying the grind and the people that come with it.

To anyone newer reading this do not rush do not compare your progress too hard to others and do not be afraid to ask questions. Every veteran you look up to started exactly where you are now.

Here is to 1000 days in Torn and whatever comes next.

See you again at 2000 days.

The House I'll Never Forget · · 3 likes

This happened when I was 12.

My family moved into an old two story house that had to be at least a hundred years old. It wasn't abandoned or run down, just old. The floors creaked constantly, the doors never shut properly, and every room seemed darker than it should have been, even during the day.

The first couple of weeks were completely normal.

Then little things started happening.

I'd hear footsteps upstairs late at night after everyone had gone to bed. At first I thought it was Mum or Dad getting up to use the bathroom, but every time I'd check in the morning they'd both say they hadn't been upstairs all night.

The strange part was the footsteps always sounded the same.

Slow.

Heavy.

Like someone was pacing from one end of the hallway to the other.

Every single night.

I never told anyone because I thought they'd just say it was an old house settling.

One evening I was sitting on the stairs talking to my younger sibling while Mum was making dinner. We both looked toward the top of the staircase at exactly the same time.

Someone was standing there.

It looked like a woman.

She was wearing what looked like a long white nightgown, and her dark hair covered most of her face.

She wasn't moving.

She wasn't looking around.

She was just... standing there.

I remember blinking because I honestly thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.

When I looked back she was gone.

My sibling looked at me and quietly asked...

"Did you see that too?"

Neither of us wanted to go upstairs after that.

Things only got worse.

I'd wake up in the middle of the night feeling like someone was standing beside my bed. I never actually saw anyone in my room, but the feeling was so strong that I'd pull the blanket over my head until I eventually fell asleep again.

One night I finally worked up the courage to look.

The bedroom door was open just enough for me to see into the hallway.

There was someone standing at the end of it.

Tall.

Completely still.

I couldn't make out a face because the hallway was dark, but I could clearly see the outline of a person.

I shut my eyes as hard as I could.

When I looked again...

The hallway was empty.

The moment that still gives me chills happened a few months later.

My parents had gone out for dinner, and my older cousin was babysitting us.

The power suddenly went out during a storm.

We all grabbed torches and sat in the living room waiting for it to come back on.

Then we heard it.

Footsteps.

Walking across the upstairs hallway.

Slow.

Deliberate.

Back and forth.

My cousin laughed at first and said it was probably the cat.

The problem was...

Our cat was asleep on the couch next to us.

The footsteps kept going for almost a minute before suddenly stopping.

A few seconds later there was one loud bang from upstairs.

Not a crash.

Not thunder.

It sounded exactly like someone had slammed a bedroom door.

My cousin went upstairs with a torch while the rest of us stayed at the bottom of the stairs.

Every room was empty.

Every window was closed.

Nothing had fallen over.

He came back down looking pale and told us he wanted to wait outside until Mum and Dad got home.

He never admitted being scared, but he refused to babysit us there again.

Years later, after we'd moved out, Mum admitted she'd been hiding something from us.

She said she'd seen the same woman standing at the top of the stairs several times but never wanted to tell us because she didn't want to frighten us.

Dad never believed in ghosts.

Even he admitted there were nights he'd hear someone walking upstairs while the whole family was downstairs watching TV.

We never found out anything about the house.

We never looked into its history.

Maybe there was a perfectly normal explanation.

Maybe old houses just make strange noises.

Maybe our minds connected dots that weren't really there.

But there's one thing I still can't explain.

Why did four different people all describe seeing the same woman...

Without ever talking about it first?

To this day, old houses don't bother me.

It's the quiet ones with long staircases that make me uneasy.

I Still Can't Explain What Happened Inside an Abandoned Psych Ward · · 5 likes

I've never really told this story publicly because I know how it sounds and I'm not trying to convince anyone that ghosts are real. I still question parts of it myself. Maybe there was a logical explanation for everything that happened. Maybe there wasn't. All I know is what my friends and I experienced that night.

This happened about four years ago.

There was an abandoned psychiatric hospital a couple of hours away from where we lived. It had been closed for years after most of the buildings had fallen into disrepair. Like every abandoned place it had stories attached to it. People claimed they heard screaming coming from empty wards at night. Others said they saw someone standing in the upper windows even though the floors were unsafe and impossible to reach. We laughed at all of it.

There were four of us. We weren't ghost hunters or anything like that. Just bored idiots with flashlights and cameras looking for something creepy to do.

Getting inside was surprisingly easy. A section of the fence had been pushed over and one of the rear doors had already been forced open. The first thing that hit us wasn't fear. It was the smell. Damp concrete old wood mould and something metallic that I still can't describe.

The silence was strange too.

Not normal silence.

Even with four people walking around it felt like the building was swallowing every sound. Our footsteps echoed but only for a second before everything went quiet again.

Most of the rooms were exactly what you'd expect. Rusty bed frames broken windows peeling paint and graffiti covering almost every wall. We joked around for the first twenty minutes making stupid comments and trying to scare each other.

Then things slowly started changing.

One of my mates kept saying he felt like someone was following us. We all laughed because he was usually the first one to get nervous. Every time we'd stop walking he'd turn around expecting someone to be behind us.

Nobody ever was.

When we reached what looked like the old isolation wing the atmosphere felt completely different. The air suddenly became freezing cold. Not just cooler. Cold enough that you could actually see your breath.

It made no sense because every window in that hallway had been boarded up.

That's when one of our flashlights died.

Fresh batteries.

Then another one started flickering.

We blamed cheap batteries and kept going.

At the very end of the corridor there was an old wheelchair sitting against the wall.

We all noticed it because it looked strangely clean compared to everything else around it. Less dust than anything nearby.

One of the boys joked that whoever moved it last forgot to take it with them.

None of us touched it.

We continued into another room for maybe five minutes looking around.

When we came back...

The wheelchair wasn't there anymore.

I know exactly where it had been because we'd all stopped to look at it.

We searched the hallway thinking one of the others was messing with us but nobody admitted moving it and there wasn't anywhere nearby to hide something that size without making a lot of noise.

That was the first moment we all stopped laughing.

We decided to head upstairs before leaving.

Halfway up the staircase we heard what sounded like a heavy metal door slam somewhere below us.

Hard.

Loud enough that the whole building seemed to shake.

We all froze.

One of us called out asking if someone else was inside.

Nothing.

Not a single reply.

A minute later we heard footsteps.

Slow.

One step every few seconds.

Coming from downstairs.

They weren't running.

They weren't sneaking.

Just steady footsteps getting closer.

We all shined our lights down the stairwell expecting security or another group exploring.

There was nobody there.

The footsteps stopped the second we pointed our lights down.

That was enough for two of the boys who wanted to leave immediately.

The rest of us agreed.

As we were making our way back toward the exit I had this overwhelming feeling that someone was walking directly behind me.

You know when someone is standing just a little too close.

That feeling.

I turned around so fast I nearly fell over.

Nothing.

But one of my mates looked at me and said

Did you hear someone whisper

I hadn't.

Until he mentioned it.

A second later I heard what sounded like someone quietly saying hey from somewhere behind us.

Not shouting.

Not echoing.

Just a quiet voice.

We all heard it.

Every single one of us.

Nobody spoke for about ten seconds.

Then we walked out.

Not ran.

Walked.

I think we were all trying not to panic.

When we finally got back to the car we checked the time.

We'd only been inside for about an hour.

It honestly felt like we'd been there for three or four.

Nobody talked much on the drive home.

The weirdest part came the next day.

Going through the photos there was nothing dramatic.

No ghost faces.

No shadow figures.

Nothing like that.

Except for one photo.

It was taken down the isolation hallway where we'd seen the wheelchair.

At the end of the corridor there was what looked like someone standing just around the corner.

Only half of their shoulder and head were visible.

At first we assumed it was one of us.

But after checking everyone's clothes and where each person was standing when the photo was taken...

It couldn't have been.

The shape was too tall and wearing something completely different.

I've still got that photo somewhere on an old hard drive.

I've never edited it and I've never posted it because honestly it's not clear enough to prove anything.

Maybe someone else really was in that building.

Maybe we let our imaginations get carried away after hearing all the stories.

Or maybe there are places where the past doesn't quite stay in the past.

I still don't know.

What I do know is that none of us have ever gone exploring abandoned hospitals again.

Believe it or don't.

If someone offered me a million dollars to spend another night in that place...

I'd still say no.
