One of the many firearms people use in Torn City is none other than the AK74U. However, compared to the model of the gun, specifically the folding stock, this is inaccurate. I'm sure I don't speak for everyone, but personally as a gun nut (ESPECIALLY in regards to AKs), this drives me a wee bit crazy.
The correct name for the firearm would be the AKS74U.
Let's get into a quick AK nomenclature crash course.
The AK74, chambered in 5.45x39 was created in response to the Red Army desiring a more intermediate and controllable cartridge. The rechambered rifle would then be widely adopted. However, there was a problem. For many auxiliary units (think tank crews, pilots, etc.), the full sized rifle was very impractical to have strapped to them in tight spaces.
In response, one of many variants of the AK74 was made, known as the AKS74U. This featured a shortened barrel, and a folding stock. In many AKs, the additional letters correlate to their features. For example, the U denotes a shortened barrel, and in Russian, the U stands for Ukorochenniy, which translates to 'shortened.' Similarily, the S stands for Skladnoy, which translates to 'foldable.' Looking at the model for the rifle on Torn, it does include a folding stock, which is actively folded to the side.
Just to drive the point home, the AKS74 is a variant of the AK74, but as the S would imply, it has a folding stock.
"It's going to do the EXACT opposite. Many of us can spot it, and we hate it. It's better to have iffy grammar, and a bit of a messy post than AI."
Realest shit, honestly. I've seen AI in peoples profile signatures and on faction pages. They all look the same, I can tell at a quick glance without even peeking at the word choices of the AI. One of the biggest giveaways I've seen, is that AI likes to use a LOT of dashes.
Either way, I don't go off on them or what not, regardless of friend or foe, but it just does give me this slight ick about them in the back of my head.
Same, script also inexplicably broke for me as of recent. Gave it a new limited key, got nothing. Haven't tried uninstalling and reinstalling the script, but, with what players above say I doubt it'll fix it. Really hoping the script starts working again soon.
I've since bought the script, and I'm very happy with it.
It shows a vast amount of information, all of it being very useful. It's even given me some ideas and suggestions for how to train my stats with even more efficiency than before. It keeps track of my trades, my travels, keeps an average estimation of my daily income alongside predictions for the future. I'm slightly scratching the surface of what this script is capable of, AND it's still in development with more features planned for the future!
Of all the many tools and scripts I've seen for Torn, this is easily one of the best, and certainly one of my favorites.
