Basically, if you successfully defeat (or help defeating) you have a chance to get a loot from the NPC (every NPC has different loot tables as i know, i could be wrong) 

You cannot defeat an NPC by yourself, you have to attack with other people

You can join a discord server such as Loot Rangers to know when to attack an NPC and which one
