Overview
This guide provides a comprehensive overview of faction wars in Torn, covering preparation, execution, and post-war procedures.
TLDR:
Faction wars are a key aspect of Torn, offering opportunities for financial gain and faction respect. Preparation involves individual drug use (Xanax) to maximize energy, and leadership coordination with the opposing faction. During war, focus on coordinated attacks (chains), overseas hits, revenge hits, and avoiding mugging. Post-war, rewards are distributed based on performance.
What is the point?
Participating in faction wars benefits both individual members and the faction as a whole.
- Individual Rewards: Members are typically paid for each successful attack (hit) they make during the war. This payment comes from the sale of the cache won after the war.
- Faction Respect: Wars provide significant faction respect. Accumulating respect unlocks upgrades for the faction, improving its overall strength and capabilities.
How does it work?
- Enlistment: Faction leadership enlists members for war each week.
- Matchmaking: Every Tuesday at 12 PM Torn Time, the war matchup is revealed.
- Respect Target: To win a war, the faction must reach a specific respect target. This target is relative to the respect gained by the opposing faction. For example, if the base target is 1,000 respect, and the opposing faction has already gained 200, your faction needs to reach 1,200 total respect to win.
Preparing for War:
What the individual member should do:
Effective preparation is crucial for maximizing your contribution to the war effort. A key element is the strategic use of Xanax:
- Xanax and Energy: Xanax provides a significant energy boost. Each Xanax grants 250 energy, and the maximum energy you can have is 1,000. However, Xanax use results in an 8-hour debuff, reducing battle stats by 35%.
- Optimal Xanax Usage:
- Purchase four Xanax (approximately $3.3 million total).
- 32 hours before war starts, use up your natural energy at the gym.
- Take your first Xanax.
- Continue taking Xanax every 8 hours (when your drug cooldown expires) until you reach 1,000 energy.
- Important: Do not use your energy for training or attacking during this preparation phase.
What the faction leadership will be doing:
Leadership plays a vital role in pre-war strategizing:
- Terms: Leaders often negotiate terms with the opposing faction. These agreements might include stipulations like no traveling or mugging.
- Agreements: Leaders will communicate any special agreements, such as pre-arranged loss scenarios where one faction allows the other to reach a certain respect level before conceding.
During the War:
Active participation and coordination are essential during the war:
- Communication: Stay active in faction chat for instructions and updates.
- Chaining: Coordinate attacks to create chains. Each milestone in a chain provides bonus respect.
- Overseas Hits: Attacking targets located overseas provides extra respect.
- Revenge Hits: Attacking someone who has just attacked a member of your faction also yields bonus respect.
- Mugging: Avoid mugging. Mugging provides less respect and can be detrimental to the faction's war effort. Focus on leaving or hospitalizing your targets.
- Items: Depending on your build and targets, items like flash grenades, pepper spray, and HEGs can be valuable assets.
After the War:
- Cache: If the faction meets the respect target, a cache is typically awarded.
- Distribution: The cache is usually sold, and the proceeds are distributed among participating members based on their hit count and contribution.

Bumppppp!
Welcome new CM and goodbye Bogey. I am glad we could all be a part of this new democratic Torn…
Almost, in chat 3.0 the send button in chats is unlabeled, the button to access the more menu in chats isn't labeled or findable either, and the armory issue still exists. The buttons for interacting with things aren't accessible to talkback unless I switch to desktop view. Thanks for your work on this.

I have been using Torn now for about 2 months. I'm blind and use talkback on my Android phone. I have noticed quite a few accessibility problems while using Torn. There are a lot of unlabeled buttons which could probably be easily resolved by adding a few aria labels to them. For example all of the buttons down the bottom for getting to various chats such as faction, company, etc aren't labeled. All of the chat avatars are also unlabeled and it will just report the number of unread messages if any. The 3 buttons at the top in the item markit are also unlabeled including the one to go to the screen where you can add your own items. There are many more but these are some of the really important ones.Another huge issue is sometimes I can't navigate to a particular button. For example in the faction armory I actually can't loan or give any items espite being the faction leader. I had a sighted person verify the buttons are there but I can't get to them. I'm not sure if they are just missing a tabindex or something.
The mission rewards page is also impossable to navigate and it's not clear what the rewards are either. Again I got someone sighted to verify everything looked fine but I just can't use it.
I
I have also had my account flagged for some reason which is probably related to me using a screenreader but I can't complete the challenge so I have to get someone to help me do it every time!'m more than happy to provide more feedback if it's helpfull.
