The Ghost of Torn City · · 11 likes

Marcus had been playing Torn for years. It was his escape — a gritty, crime-ridden city where he could rise to power through theft, murder, and business. He had built his character into a feared kingpin, dominating the streets. But one night, something strange happened.

While scrolling the forums, a new thread caught his eye: “The Lost Player — Do Not Click.”

Curiosity won. He clicked.

The post was short:

“He walks the alleys of Torn. A player who never logged out. He’ll message you at 3:17 AM. If you reply, he’ll find you.”

Marcus laughed it off and closed his laptop. He barely slept that night, grinding through faction wars and trading weapons. But at exactly 3:17 AM, a message popped up in his inbox:

Unknown: “Help me. I can’t log out.”

Marcus froze. He hovered over the sender’s name — there wasn’t one. His heart raced as he typed back, “What is this? A prank?”

The response was instant: “You shouldn’t have answered.”

His game froze. When it came back, his avatar wasn’t in Torn anymore. It was in a dark, empty street he’d never seen before. No other players. No map. Just fog and flickering streetlights.

A figure stepped out of the shadows. It was a player — or what was left of one. His skin was pale, his clothes tattered. His name was just [???], but his level was impossibly high: Level 9999.

“You’re here now. Like me,” the figure rasped. “No way out. No log off. Play forever.”

Marcus panicked, slamming his keyboard. Nothing worked. His screen flickered, and the figure lunged. The last thing he saw was his avatar’s health drop to 0.

When his screen went black, so did his room. The power cut out. His phone buzzed once — a message from an unknown number:

“You shouldn’t have answered.”

The next day, Marcus’s Torn account was online — but it wasn’t him playing. His friends received strange messages from his account, all saying the same thing:

“Help me. I can’t log out.”

Friendly Derek: The Phantom of Mercy in Torn City · · 9 likes

In the shadows of Torn City—where bullets speak louder than words and loyalty shifts with the tides—there is a figure known not for his violence, but for his kindness. They call him Friendly Derek.

No one knows his faction. No one knows his past. Some say he was once a high-ranking enforcer for a brutal cartel, others believe he’s just a medic with a vendetta against death itself. What everyone does know is this: when you’re bleeding out in the streets, fading fast from a mugging gone wrong or a failed raid, Friendly Derek finds you.

It usually begins like this:

You’re on your last breath outside the Red Light District. You’ve just been hospitalized by some smug punk from a rival company. You’re lying there, watching your cash drain and your stats crumble.

Then—tap tap tap—footsteps.

You expect looters. Or maybe someone to finish you off. Instead, a hand slips under your arm and lifts you with surprising ease.

“Easy there, pal,” says a voice like warm coffee. “Hospital’s just down the street.”

You catch a glimpse: scuffed trainers, worn cargo jacket, a white armband with a crude smiley face drawn on it. Friendly Derek.

He doesn’t ask for tips. Doesn’t leave a note. Doesn’t even stick around. Just makes sure you get through those sliding hospital doors, and then he’s gone—off to help the next poor bastard faceplanting in an alley.

Rumors swirl. Some believe he’s an AI glitch. Others think he’s an ex-Director who snapped after watching too many of his crew die in stupid wars. There’s even a betting pool in the forums: “Guess Derek’s real name, win a Xanax.”

Whatever the truth is, Derek’s become something of a folk hero. Players graffiti his name on the walls near the hospital: “DEREK WAS HERE” scrawled above the bloodstains. Nurses speak of him with hushed reverence, like he’s some urban saint of stat-saving.

Even the killers show him respect. Gangsters that wouldn’t hesitate to shoot their own shadow will nod solemnly when they see Derek passing through, hauling some unconscious noob toward medical attention.

One night, a brutal battle breaks out between factions in the Docks. It’s chaos—chains flying, bombs exploding, mercenaries groaning. When the dust settles, thirty bodies lie across the zone.

By morning, all of them have been checked into the hospital.

All of them.

The only clue left behind? A single used medkit left at the scene, with a smiley face drawn in blood.

So if you’re ever down, bleeding out on the grimy sidewalks of Torn, listen close. You might just hear the shuffle of old sneakers. And before the lights go out, feel a strong hand hoisting you up with the words:

“Don’t worry, friend—I got you.”

Because in Torn City, justice may be rare, mercy even rarer. But Friendly Derek?

He’s always on duty.

Real Life vs. Torn Education · · 7 likes

I’ve been looking through Torn’s education system and realized it’s actually a pretty interesting lineup:

  • Biology
  • Business Management
  • Combat Training
  • Computer Science
  • General Studies
  • Health & Fitness
  • History
  • Law
  • Mathematics
  • Psychology
  • Self Defense
  • Sports Science

It got me wondering…

How many of these have you actually completed, or come close to completing, in real life?

I’m curious what everyone else has done.

Were you a Biology major? History buff? Computer Science graduate? Trade school? Self-taught? Or did life take you in a completely different direction?

Let’s see what kind of real-world education Torn players have behind their keyboards. 👇

AI can suck my dingleberries... ·

I have social media blocked on my daughters phone as she got into some shit with Roblox and Snapchat so I took it all away.  She still has access to her phone for tracking and emergency contacts.  I can put her phone onto downtime when I think she doesn't need it (during class, etc), and restrict access to certain apps and website.

All with iPhone.. not sure if Android has the same stuff.  It's handy and keeps control with the parents. I will admit.. a lot of parents are weak with their kids and struggle enforcing rules... gov't intervention can be necessary for those folks.

Also.. I'm not stupid.. I was a resourceful teenager who bypassed a lot of my own parents restrictions (though their wasn't much to restrict in the late 90's/early 2k's). I'm sure she's viewing or seeing things in her friends phones and socials but that I can't do much about. It's a sensitive subject for sure.

AI can suck my dingleberries... ·

AI is definitely taking over the creative sector.. anyone is a Picasso now with prompt commands.  Fuck'n shit took over my Audio Production hobby like mad! AI makes a clean ass sounding song or beat through prompts that would take a hot minute to make organically! I've found a way to work it though and integrate into my craft.  It's a blessing and a curse at the same time. FUCK AI!!!... but I love you!

Why must we all be so divided? ·

Most of us aren't enemies. We're people standing around the same broken machine, arguing about which part needs fixing. The danger begins when we become more interested in proving the person across from us is evil than figuring out how to repair the machine together.

Craft soda ·

Cream soda is probably a really good one to start with honestly. If you get that base dialed in, I’d imagine it makes moving into other flavors a lot easier.

I’d probably do small test batches and keep notes on each one so you can tweak one thing at a time without burning through a whole keg. Vanilla, sweetness, acidity and carbonation can all change how the final flavor comes across quite a bit.

The oils/extracts staying mixed evenly would be something I’d keep an eye on too, especially once it’s sitting in the keg for a while.

Sounds like a fun project though. Once you get the cream soda where you want it, you’ll probably have a pretty solid process built for everything after that.
