Getting Started in Torn - A new players guide · · 104 likes

Torn is a long-term game. The best method of strong growth is time and consistency.

Quick tips to follow:

  1. Don't sell losses for cheap - People will message you offering 30-50k each time you attack them and lose, this is a scam. If you want some quick money selling losses check the Attacking Forum. or try this well put together service by Nebula Corp.
Join Nebula Services Discord. You can easily find people willing to pay you 250k+ for EACH hit!

The community seems to be divided on this topic, some will recommend it as the best way to earn money and grow your net-worth early on, while others will say to stay away from it as your energy is best used in the gym or for leveling. Both sides have merits to their arguments. Selling losses can net you some solid money early on but you definitely shouldn't neglect training/leveling either.

  2. Reach level 15 ASAP - At level 15 you unlock the ability to fly overseas where you can buy flowers and plushies to sell for very good profits (This should be one of your main sources of income). I recommend training in the gym until atleast 200-300 in each stat to make sure you can win the fights and do it quickly **You can skip dex if you want**.
Make sure to "Leave" your target for the highest experience gain.

Check out Baldr's Leveling targets or this Website (it uses the baldr's list targets but shows who's in the hospital and when they are about to come out) to find good players to farm XP from. Hitting people fresh out of the hospital means their health will be lower and therefore easier to beat. Other people will be attacking these targets trying to level as well so you want to make sure that you are getting the last hit.

  3. Find a good Faction - Ideally 200k+ (or higher) respect so you can get solid perks to help your growth. A good faction will have a well stocked armory of weapons and armor available for you to use and some will be willing to give you Xanax, candies, money etc. to help you grow even faster. Ask if there are any "Proficiency" weapons available. These weapons give an XP buff as long as you use them for the last hit of a fight, this will help you with reaching level 15 even faster. Try to find a faction whose purpose or goals align with your own (Wars, trading or reviving etc.)

Post in the Looking for Faction thread or search through Faction Recruitment threads here >> Faction Recruitment Forum

  4. Get a job - The tutorial missions will also have you find a job with the city. It may not seem important because your daily pay is essentially nothing but the value comes from building your job stats so you can get better positions within the city or to help with getting a job in a player-run company.
My personal preferences are the Army (city job, allows you to spend job points for strength) or a Music Store (Player run company, 3* or higher for increased gym XP)

  5. Start Educations - If you haven't done so already, start working on your educations. If you plan to participate in wars (you should) I recommend starting with Intro to Biology and Intravenous Therapy. This will unlock the strongest healing item in the game Blood Bags. After unlocking Blood Bags, I suggest going through either Combat Training for increased weapon accuracy and damage or Sports Science for increased gym gains.

  6. Do drugs (In game :P) - Drugs are vital to gaining levels and growing your stats. The most important being Xanax which gives you 250 energy (for attacking and gym training) and later Ecstasy which doubles your current happiness (used for happy jumps, there are many different guides for this)

  7. Protect your money - Make use of your Faction's Vault, Torn Bank and your piggy bank (purchased for mission points) until you can buy a Stock Ticker from the Points Building. This will keep your money safe. Torn is a crime game, you WILL get mugged and the less money you have on hand means less money potential muggers can steal from you.  Don't get caught up trying to retaliate against someone that mugs you. Learn from your mistakes and move on. Your energy is better spent in the gym or on leveling targets.

  8. Consider Subscribing - If you find you're enjoying the game think about a subscription or donator status to help support this amazing game and for extra maximum energy and increased energy regeneration. I'd recommend a monthly subscription because you get the added benefit of free items at the start of each month. The items you receive can be very valuable and I believe the subscription bonus is the only way that some of the items can be obtained.

  9. Stay active - Checking in a few times a day to spend your energy and nerve will give you a huge advantage over people that only log on once a day or less. Check out TornPDA on the App Store or Google Play to help fuel your addiction via mobile devices. Try not to let your resources sit un-used and essentially wasted (especially energy)

  10. Don't give up - Sometimes it can seem overwhelming or that your progress is stagnating. Ask your faction members for help, look for guides, there are tons of resources about basically every topic in torn. The more you play the more the game opens up to basically however you find you like to play

*Supercharge your game start*

04:26:14 - 20/06/25 You upgraded your level to 2
05:55:26 - 25/06/25 You upgraded your level to 15

285 STR 205 DEF 227 SPD 13 DEX 730 Total 25/06/25

A lot of players I've talked with have 2 main questions they ask, "how do i make money fast" and "how do I get strong/level fast". I was able to reach level 15 in 5 days with 730 total battle stats. Follow these steps and you can do it even faster.

  1. Find a buyer - You can sell losses sometimes referred to as "slutting"
Find a buyer here >>> Attacking Forum or you can Join Nebula Services Discord where they have a well developed system for selling losses
*Make sure to buy a few medkits so you can get out of the hospital quickly*
Players will pay for you to attack them because they earn merits for having so many successful defends.
4 attacks @ 250k minimum means an easy 1 million dollars or more if you're lucky

  2. Buy a Xanax - Get familiar with the item market, you will use it a lot throughout your stay in torn.
    Go here >>> Item Market
If you're feeling savvy you can generally find better deals at player bazaars
Xanax gives you 250 energy and 75 happy which means 10 more attacks @250k for a total of 2.5 million but don't take your xanax yet

  3. Rent a Mansion - Go to the Rental Market and find a cheap rental on a Mansion. Look for a short rental period. 7 days is good.
Make sure you move into your new Mansion before doing the next step.
Find your new temporary home here >>> Rental Market

  4. Do Drugs - Take the xanax you purchased earlier. We waited to move into the mansion first because better properties means higher maximum happy and taking the xanax now means it boosts you closer to your new happy maximum quicker (more happy = more gym gains)

  5. Slutting and Training - Sell 4 more losses then spend the rest of your energy in the gym training.
This will allow you to pay for your next xanax as well as setting yourself up to start beating those leveling targets with ease.

  6. Get Strong - Get at least 200 each in Strength, Defense and Speed. Up to you if you want to train Dexterity as well but I skipped it for the leveling process. You can train more if you like to make the fights easier *Probably a good idea if you aren't using good weapons/armor from a Faction armory*

  7. Level up - Once you have the stats I mentioned earlier every single bit of your energy should be used on leveling targets. Other players will also be looking to farm these guys for the easy XP so you have to be fast. When using the website linked it will also show a timer for when people leave the hospital, your targets will be low health when this happens so again, be fast for an easier fight.
Use this website to find targets to hit. (page 3 has easier targets) >>> https://oran.pw/baldrstargets/

  8. Stonks - Congrats you're level 15 and now you can fly! Head abroad to buy plushies and flowers to sell on the Item Market for profits while waiting for energy regen/xanax cooldowns. Now that you're level 15 you can stop hitting leveling targets and should focus on training to continue growing your stats.
I use this website to check the stock of items abroad before I fly >>> Arson Warehouse | Foreign Stock

Notes:
-These steps will be easier to complete if you have the support of a good faction!

-You can also do some slutting on the side to buy xanax to get more hits in on leveling targets but your main focus should be to hit level 15 as fast as possible!

Time for WAR

You may have heard about Faction Ranked Wars or RW's. These are great opportunities to gain respect for your faction as well as lining your pockets. It is essentially a tug-of-war played with points/respect. You earn points by attacking the enemy faction and the same for your enemy. To win you must out earn your opponents, pulling the points lead to your side and reaching a pre-set "Lead Target". The target slowly starts diminishing 24-hours after the war starts.

Lets break down a few terms and mechanics that will apply during a war.

Turtling - VERY important. When you get matched for a ranked war make sure to turn revives off this option is found in your settings. Turtling essentially means making yourself unable to be attacked to prevent the enemy from scoring points against you. There are a few ways to effectively turtle.

  1. Self-hosping - Use Ipecac syrup or the wrong type of blood-bag to put yourself in the hospital. Set a timer for shortly before your hospital time runs out so you can either be ready to attack or to continue your self-hosping.

  2. Flying - Fly abroad to countries where there are no members of the enemy faction. Make sure to watch out for enemies flying to catch you because getting hospitalized abroad is very punishing since you don't have access to your inventory for medical items. Using timers to keep yourself in the air is also effective.

  3. Bounties - Ask faction members to set bounties on you so outside players will hospitalize you. This can be combined with self-hosping first so after your self-hosp expires the bounty attack will put you in the hospital again extending the time you are safe from getting farmed. Outside bounty hits also have the added bonus of giving you the "Early Discharge" from hospital option (explained later)

  4. Friendly Fire - Probably the least efficient method because your energy should be used for war and chain attacks. Simply have a faction member attack and hospitalize you.

Chaining - A chain is formed when your faction makes 10 successful hits within a 5-minute window. You must maintain the chain by making sure that there is at-least 1 additional hit within every 5 minutes or the chain will break. You want to maintain your chain while trying to break the enemy's. Chains are very powerful because they provide a multiplier to respect that increases the larger the chain is. Chains also receive large bonuses at certain thresholds: 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000, 2500, 5000, 10000, 25000, 50000, and 100000 hits. During war you should always try to make sure that bonus hits are against the enemy faction or it will not count towards the war score.

Early Discharge - During war any attacks made by players that are NOT part of the enemy faction make you eligible for Early Discharge. This means you can instantly get out of the hospital and reset your health back to where it was before that player attacked you.

Inside Hits - Inside hits are simply attacks made against the faction that you are currently at war with. Chain bonus hits should always be made against inside targets.

Outside Hits - Any attacks that are made against players that are NOT a part of the faction you are currently at war with. The respect gained from outside hits is not added to your war score but, outside hits can still be useful to maintain or push your chain closer to the next bonus threshold.

Farming - Attacking their open players as soon as they come out of the hospital on repeat, "farming" them for respect/war score.

General Strategy - You war leaders may have their own strategies during war but here is a basic rundown of how to win a war. Do note that Leaving enemies gives more respect than Hospitalizing, and that Mugging during war is generally frowned upon.

  • Hospitalize on-liners. If enemies are actively attacking they are gaining respect/war score. Hospitalize them to run up their med cooldown and prevent them from attacking you. This can also help to break the enemy chain if they don't have anyone able to maintain it.
  • Farm targets. Hit them as soon as they come out of the hospital to grow your score as quickly as possible and to prevent them from self-hosping or flying.
  • Maintain the chain. Don't let your chain break, coordinate with your faction to keep it alive. Having members abroad can be helpful to keep the chain alive while being out of reach of enemy attackers.
  • Turtle when necessary. Don't let yourself be farmed. Turtling can also be useful to hide from the enemies if they are nearing a bonus threshold, remember that the bonus only applies to their war score if it is against your faction. If everyone is turtled this could make the enemy waste their bonus on an outside hit.

Selling Trains - Premium Service for Getting Stats · · 3 likes

I went from around 200 total jobs stats to ~15k total in a week.

Good training option for people with low stats like I was before starting this. No hassle, no scam and he made sure to switch my positions around to make sure I got the stats I was asking for. Paid upfront and FinalBoss started training me as soon as the 72 hour hold was up.

A lot of other train sellers want you to already have stats and if youre a newer player thats usually just not an option for you. Definitely recommend FB for buying trains.

Company Directors shouldn't be punished for another player getting fedded · · 51 likes

I think there needs to be some kind of grace period or better handling when an employee in a company gets fedded.

Running a 10* company already takes effort, and finding reliable employees with good stats is not something that happens instantly. It can take several days to find someone who is actually worth hiring, especially if you are trying to avoid grabbing the first random person available.

The issue is that when an employee gets fedded, the director is immediately punished for something completely outside their control. In my case, I found out today because the employee instantly showed as max inactivity, which is basically the same as not having an employee at all. There was no useful warning, no buffer, and no chance to prepare or find a decent replacement.

That means instead of having a few days to search for a solid hire, I have to rush to replace them with basically anyone just to stop the company from taking as much of a hit. That feels bad, especially when I did nothing wrong.

I’m not saying companies should be protected forever from fedded employees. But if someone gets fedded, there should be some kind of short grace period before they count as fully inactive, or a separate status that gives the director time to react. Even 48–72 hours would make a big difference.

Directors should be responsible for managing their companies, but they shouldn’t be instantly punished because another player got themselves fedded.

End Rant

EDIT: For the people saying "how is it any different than someone leaving without notice?"

1) In my vast experience of running a single company /s. I've only had that happen twice over the past 8 months, both were very early on to me running the company and one was because he was following the ex-director and faction mate to a new faction company.

2) I've never actually done it but there's the option for some petty satisfaction "I could beat this guy up or bounty him if I wanted" but you can't even do that against a fedded player!

Company Directors shouldn't be punished for another player getting fedded ·

I dont believe so unless I missed it because his efficiency was still good.

He shows last online yesterday and yesterday at torn work day end is when I saw he had 0 efficiency.

also this made me chuckle

I grew this company from 5 stars and have been holding 10 stars for the past two months. People like you are the reason I was motivated to make it happen in the first place.

How does me being more hands on change the fact that yesterday the employee was perfectly fine and today when i log in to do company training I see that he has 0 efficiency because he got fedded. I check torn multiple times a day and regularly handle any company business as well.

Going inactive slowly drains it, but getting fedded is an instant 0 efficiency.
