Entered. Excited. Apparently writing a whole book again.
Figured I’d add my experience here: I’ve entered all the active rounds, and I’m excited to be part of this. My Xanax has already voted, lol.
I spent a good while reading the website, the documentation, and how the draw works. Partly to get that warm-and-fuzzy before entering, and partly because I find this stuff interesting. The site is really well made, and I appreciate the effort to explain the process, publish the commitments, and give people the numbers to check afterward. Having everyone’s chosen number contribute to the result is a neat touch. That level of documentation deserves some credit.
I’ve also actually talked with Vreebn. In every interaction I’ve had, he’s been approachable, helpful, and straight with me. He answers questions, engages with concerns, and clearly cares about what he’s building. My experience with him has been completely above-board.
Now, I’m no Torn-lawyer. My layman’s reading was that a Torn lottery with a read-only information and verification site sounded within the rules, but I’ll leave the final call to staff. Vreebn has publicly said he’s working with them and will make whatever changes are needed. I appreciate him taking that seriously, and I’m looking forward to the clarification.
My very sophisticated lottery strategy: Assume I’m pissing away some perfectly good imaginary drugs. Enjoy the suspense. Be pleasantly shocked if an island turns up.
I knew I could win absolutely nothing when I sent the Xanax. That was my choice. I’m happy for someone to earn a disclosed margin for building and running something I enjoy; I don’t need every bit of fun in Torn to be my most efficient financial decision.
Absolutely check the math and ask fair questions. That’s part of what makes the documentation useful! For me, though, once I understand the price, prizes, and odds, I’m happy to decide whether the fun is worth it without needing to redesign the whole lottery from the passenger seat. Enter or pass; either is fine. We can make different choices and still let each other enjoy the game.
Good luck, everyone. Vreebn, I like what you’ve built, my dude. 🌴
Back to the plushie mines. These questionable island dreams won’t fund themselves. 🧸⛏️
