I was just thinking about the little things that annoy me in the game, and then I go looking in the suggestion forums and sometimes I find others who are annoyed, but not always. Then, it basically goes nowhere. As a programmer myself, i would like a structured (ie in-game) way to share QOL improvements, particularly those that are interface-based. Right now, someone can suggest a good script, but that's not very efficient and it's risky. It would be lovely to have a system for:
a) suggesting JUST QOL improvements that have interface implications only
b) having someone implement that improvement
c) having a way to search and access those improvements
The example I started with here was a race-creation template. Every day, I create two races that are exactly the same. Making a race template where I can reduce that work to two clicks would be amazing. however, there are not that many of us that create this many races, so it would never get implemented by paid programmers. So, enter my idea here. Someone else with the skill and the shared annoyance just makes it happen and Torn provides a way to search and share.
Of course, it would also give Torn oversight, so they could discourage fixes that they think are unfair or taking advantage or whatever.
Thanks for reading this far, and I look forward to your suggestions on how to make my suggestion better!

Pros
+ New races, crimes, whatever else you want
+ If you love/live in a city in real life, you can spend lots of time there instead of buying a bunch of stuff and dipping
+ it could broaden and deepen a bunch of mechanics without messing with the balance too much
+ could be scaled up slowly by adding one activity at a time to one city at a time
Cons
-
- There would be more fun stuff to do? Sounds terrible.
- People hate variety?
- (Elizabeth) The game is called Torn City and it should take place mostly there.
- I'm trying to anticipate your complaints, but I'm struggling. I'll put them in here as you post them.

You're right, PP. This is a great idea! I don't know why I didn't think of it :) bump

Keep working on this. This is a good idea. The tricky bit (IMHO) with education is that it doesn't require active gameplay (just time) and not much in terms of resources (just a bit of money). That means the benefits it brings must be small as well. If you accept that restriction (that the rewards must be pretty underwhelming), it's hard to see how much more could be done. However, if we change that calculation a bit (ie requiring more active gameplay or more time or more resources), then things can get interesting again. The homework example fits in here. If you need to do something active (like a mission) then we can give better rewards. I also love the idea of tying it in with other aspects of the game (like jobs). There are lots of opportunities for education to get more complicated and interesting. Great work!
This is a tricky one. i love the thinking done here on how the mechanic operates. I'm split. I LIKE the idea of balanced options, but I also like the idea of weaker players having something they can do against much stronger players. Both make gameplay more interesting.
I think there is a core good idea here. We need a way to differentiate things that
a) Have value to us personally
b) MAY have value to the market
c) have NO value
I'm not sure that a lock is the right solution, but I don't really care how that happens. It would be a significant Quality of Life improvement. Well done and thanks for posting!
This is a good idea. Depending on implementation, this should be fairly easy to make happen as well. Great job!
I like this suggestion! Great work!
The thing that occurred to me immediately was to have pro sports leagues with salaries, contracts, and championships. THEN, we can bet on them too!

Judge Chamberlain Haller: Mr. Gambini, that is a lucid, well thought-out, intelligent objection.
Vinny Gambini: Thank you.
Judge Chamberlain Haller: Overruled.
In all seriousness though, thanks for the thoughtful, well-researched post. And also, more work on missions please!
. At least one prize randomly assigned. And do it like the draft. Lower places get more tickets
. Prizes for performances with weaker cars (Best D class car or best performance with a Corsa)
This is a good direction. I'll keep thinking about it.
