26 Years Old, 7 Hours From Home, and Apparently Too Stubborn to Cry 😅
Well… here we are. 🎂
In a couple hours, I officially turn 26. Normally, birthdays are supposed to be one of those days where you're surrounded by family, friends, people you've known forever, somebody yelling “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” and someone else reminding you that you're getting old.
Instead, I'm sitting here 7 hours away from my family, in a place that still doesn't completely feel like home, realizing that this is the first birthday I've ever had where I'm truly on my own.
And honestly? It hurts more than I expected.
I knew moving away would be hard. I knew there would be holidays, random Tuesday nights, and moments where I'd wish I could just walk into my family's house and be around people who have known me my entire life.
I just didn't realize my birthday would be one of those moments that really drives it home.
So tonight I'm doing what any emotionally stable 26-year-old adult would do…
I'm sitting on Torn hoping a bunch of strangers on the internet will make me feel less alone. 😂
And somehow, that's actually pretty damn comforting.
I've spent countless hours on this game talking absolute nonsense with people I've never met, arguing over pixels, making money that doesn't exist, getting hospitalized over imaginary grudges, and somehow building little friendships along the way.
So if you've got a second, drop a Happy Birthday, tell me something funny, insult me appropriately for turning 26, or just say hello.
I don't need anything fancy.
I think I just need a little reminder that even when you're 7 hours away from everyone you've ever known, you're not necessarily as alone as you feel.
So here's to 26. 🥂
Older? Absolutely.
Wiser? Debatable.
Financially responsible? Let's not get carried away.
But I'm still here. And that's something.
Happy birthday to me. ❤️🎂
Now somebody please make this old man feel loved before I start crying into my keyboard. 😂
