If it helps any, I dont promote the general use of vids in the public forums but they can be great in fac/comp forums for keeping up morale! flash is dead long live webm!

To post a vid ,,, they've made it really f**kin tricky but not imposible :)

Torn will only play webm format vids.

I use a firefox plugin to download a vid from youtube and convert it to webm.
search "YouTube Video and Audio Downloader" in add ons for firefox or on google.

you then need to host the vid somewhere online, I use:
http://webmup.com/
There's a 30mb limit and can take a few mins to upload depending on file size, the video will autoplay once the upload is done.
So just make a brew!

The process to embed your vid:

In the editor you should see a big f**kin A to the top right of the box, click it.
under the tools menu choose "source code"

paste this code in the window:

--> You need to replace the --> with a closing video tag

The src of the code above is the url to your uploaded vid.
remove all * from the example above to work

note when your vid finishes uploading to http://webmup.com/ you can right click over the video and choose copy location to get the src.


and all should be gravy :)

EDIT="Here's a link to webm compatibility. As cyberdude mentioned compatibility issues. Safari wont play webm, But that was pretty much the same situation for flash. Even IE 9+ users can see the magic happen. Good luck!

It surprises me that there isn't a better understanding of crypto/blockchain tech here.

Im terms of multis, having a secure blockhain record of players would enable better methods of verification (for players that are serious about the game) eg KYC verification. This would effectively create a two tier system of verified accounts and non verified accounts. The verified accounts being enabled with trading functionality.

I suggested a similar idea previously about in game token/item trading. It got the same uninformed stock response.

I should probably explain further. Yes I'm talking about RMT, what I'm suggesting is a way that torn could have control over how it is done. and prob attract some new active users and gain exposure as an innovator in blockchain technology.

An erc20 token can be be created on the ethereum blockchain. This token is managed with an ethereum smart contract and is used by an interested party to represent a unit of something. As the token is stored on a distributed blockchain. It can not be scammed, altered or hidden (unless torn chose to).

They could then sell x amount of tc tokens to a user for a donation. The tokens could then be used in the stock market or casino, to add real world value to the game. Incidently if torn built their casino games on ethereum they could mathematically prove to a user they are fair.

Allow users to trade items, transparently, without risk of scam. Items could be traded only within torn, if torn choose to. Keeping their copy of the blockchain private and holding the majority of the tokens.

Or go the whole mile and allow torn $'s to be traded on exchanges such as bittrex and items to be traded between users on platforms like dmarket. All completely trackable and agreed to by torn.

I think you misunderstand, I'm not suggesting players trade items between themselves,

I'm talking about torn.com integrating with a game asset trading platform to facilitate trading legitimately.

Game items would be minted on a blockchain on release and value could be determined by torn on creation or by market price.

Turn torn assets into real world cash!

Hey Chedders why not get some token integration into TC?

You could either create a torn erc20 token or integrate with one of the new projects coming online that will make it super easy to trade torn items for other things such as other cross platform game items.

As players we invest a lot of time into the games we play, I dread to think of the accumulated time ive spent in this one alone over the past 10 years.

But I enjoy it, so it's fine. I would be even happier if the 150000 boxs of cigars I sold last week for 0.0001TC bought me dinner on Saturday night.

Could make the casino and stock market far more interesting.

It would also help get more visibility for the game and give an incentive for players to get those special items.
