Hello,

this was a thread in search for a son/daughter to adopt.

Since we are not able to conceive a torn kid ourselves. As an oldtimer torn couple we feel it is our duty to upbring some new noob in to the torn way of life. Our previous attempts have failed abysmally, the guy died (went inactive).
For this reason, we will vet possible candidates from now on. If we are to invest energy and time into coaching someone then we at least expect you to return the favor by growing in torn and invest some time in it.

Requirements: be active, be a noob, be social and willing to cope with an agressive drug addicted mom.
Basic stats:
At least 1000 user activity/day played
At least 1 000 000 networth/day played
Minimum awards : 40

Pros: We provide you with housing and minimal housing costs, education and the means to make it in torn
Cons: Drug addiction likely.

How to apply? Respond in this thread! We will then choose someone and send him/her a PM.

TL;DR: then you are not a suitable candidate, chop chop, carry on!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit:

Rather I play the waiting game,
see who makes himself a name,
be worthy in time
to be a son/daughter of mine?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit2: our lost son has been found. For those still looking for parents, I am sorry.
This has been fun and alot of good responses, which were truly appreciated by me and mom.

Thank you all!

Why does Donald Trump hate America so much? What is it about this German-American that makes him think he can tell native-born citizens what to say and how to behave?
"So interesting to see 'Progressive' Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run," Trump tweeted.
Trump sounded like he just noticed some new phenomenon of Congress telling the executive branch how to behave. Let's hope he doesn't know about the Tea Party.
Now it is true that one of the "Progressive" women he's referring to is an American citizen who was born in Somalia. Tucker Carlson of Fox News has noticed this same telltale sign about the member of Congress who has dared to be critical of the administration.
But the other three were born in this country, where sadly the government is indeed "a complete and total catastrophe".

Trump is unfortunately correct when he says their government is "the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all)".
Because it's his own government and it barely functions. Everyone in Washington - especially the poor British ambassador - has said as much.
"Why don't they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done," Trump tweeted on Sunday, apparently talking about a group of American members of Congress, including those who were born in the Bronx, Detroit and Cincinnati.
That's the problem with immigrant families like the Trumps. They have no respect for our traditions and our elected representatives.
They hate our freedoms so much that they want to turn us into some kind of European dictatorship like they used to have back home. When they talk about our God-given constitution, they sound like they haven't even bothered to read the Cliff's Notes version.
On Friday Trump insisted that he was immune from all that Russia-related stuff because his own attorney general said he didn't break the law. Which must be how these immigrants think the law works where they come from.
"Take a look at one other thing," Trump told reporters, explaining how there was no way he could be charged with obstruction of justice. "It's a thing called Article Two. Nobody ever mentions Article Two. It gives me all of these rights at a level that nobody has ever seen before. We don't even talk about Article Two."
Article Two of the constitution has been around for a while - as long as the constitution, in fact. If nobody has ever seen it before, that nobody must be an immigrant from a country without a constitution.
It's true that Article Two establishes the office and powers of the presidency. It also talks about a pesky thing called impeachment.

But what can you expect from these newcomers, fresh off the boat with immigrant wives called Melania and children with foreign names like Ivanka? All they want to do is hobnob with foreign leaders, instead of hanging out with real American members of Congress.
Give them an inch and they'll take away our all-American first amendment rights.
"To me, free speech is not when you see something good and then you purposely write bad," Trump said to a group of rightwing nutjob social media hacks at the White House last week. "To me, that's very dangerous speech and you become angry at it. But that's not free speech."
Trump purposely talk bad, like immigrants do. He also thinks free speech is happy speech and bad speech is angry speech.
Which pretty much sums up his attitude to the four Democratic members of Congress who just happen to be women of color, exercising their first amendment rights as citizens and their Article One powers as members of the legislative branch. He happy, they angry.
Some people say that Trump's racism is becoming more obvious and obnoxious as we near the 2020 election.

Those people have clearly forgotten how Trump built his 2016 campaign on racism against President Obama, Mexicans and immigrants in general.
Those people have also forgotten Trump's incompetence and indifference in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. And they have ignored his policy of punishing families and especially small children at the southern border for the last two years.
They can't remember his complimentary comments about the neo-Nazis in Charlottesville who wanted to rid the country of Jews, or his less complimentary comments about immigrants from what he called "shithole countries" that just happen to be majority black and brown.
The only part of Trump that is becoming more obvious is his oblivious disregard of his own sorry state.

Sunday's tweetstorm was of course intended to troll the Democrats and drive a wedge between the House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, and the four progressive members of Congress, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who suggested that Pelosi was disrespectful about singling them out for criticism.
But instead of splitting apart the Democrats, Trump has done what only Trump can do: unite the opposition in sheer disgust.
Now all Democrats stand together in mutual respect and in condemnation of the cack-handed man who claims to be commander-in-chief.
There was a time, before January 2017, when presidents and prime ministers celebrated immigrants and diversity as one of the defining strengths of their countries. Now our leaders pretend their own families have nothing to do with immigrants.
Soon we're going to have to watch a German-American president playing footsie with a British prime minister who was born in New York, with Turkish and Russian roots, who is actually named Boris.

With all these immigrants around, it makes you wonder why we can't find any real white nationalists to play the racism card any more. All these foreigners are taking the jobs away from our pure-bred bigots. They ought to go back to where they came from.

My beloved druggie wife
cuts up the unjust with a knife
once made up her mind
doesnt think to strive
from her target, even in a bind.

She has a heart of gold,
but can only once be called
old
almost got fedded
and after that multiple times chedded

I guess its like that,
she has 9 lives like her cat.
Nightly hours are no stranger for her,
with refreshing rain clattering above.

Let`s go skydiving,
let`s go and find out what half a world away
is all about
let`s go and leave all the drama
because

when you`ve seen it all before,
everything becomes a bore.
In a never-ending game,
some things just stay the same,
when change is needed,
only an outside person can free that.

Lucky for me,
just when I thought `Im done`
there you came, with lots of fun
and here we go, together, giving torn another run.

So for all you trolls, beggars and thieves out there
lets be fair,
in this RPG
your role does not fit me.

Rather I play the waiting game,
see who makes himself a name,
be worthy in time
to be a son/daughter of mine?

For all of you interested out there,
caring to join this rhyming pair-

If it be true,
and this applies to you,
do not hesitate
to try and join our fate.

So prospective daughter or son,
to be belittled as `roleplay` in an RPG
seems nuts to me
but helping a mans last dying wish
I settle for this.

Hi guys,

let's face it, there has been made a mistake.

With 3600 point drain from PP (6 times out of hosp x 3 points x 204 people) daily with people not medding out it is impossible for the ladies to win this competition...

So I say, let's give them a fair chance at least. Instead of PP, tomorrow duke needs to go. Sorry Pacifists, but you have been dealt a too strong card.

Let's show Ched that as much as we dislike what some people in PP did, punishing the whole team is something we won't stand for..

This is a communication problem above all else, one that seems to be pretty persistent these last few months.
No info was communicated with regards to MK
No info with the release of dogtags.
No info in this thread.

It's not like the player base needs to know the inside info, it's just that we need to be communicated to. Giving no statements whatsoever, you leave the info vacuum open to all the flamers/haters/trolls. Normal playing people don't post here, but do wonder what's going on.

To me it seems communication is an aspect that needs to be worked out above all other problems... (what good is the bulletin board if it's hardly being used? )

I know what you mean about your 2 groups and I have been thinking about it.
If you count people who feel uncomfortable with it in group 1 and still have people in group 2 who don`t want it in their face, as you seem to think, I can`t help but think why? I get shoved coca cola in my face all the time, but I`m indifferent to that. Why are these people emotionally invested?

Personal problems? --> I think we all know the cliche gay whom in denying to being gay is the biggest homophobe of them all

For instance take Nooooisy [2613466] `s post, he seems to think most LGBT are soft porn watching child molesters.

Is that because of a personal experience, or is it because his entire world, community has led him to believe this?

If it is the community leading him to having such emotional response, then that is exactly why the LGBT flag was created. To raise awareness about this subject eventhough most of your community thinks its an abomination.
So if you are in group 2, annoyed/emotionally invested with being shoved that flag in your face, but not homophobe, you should be aware about your environment leading you to believe these things?

Groups aside, hostilities always flare with subjects like these. Makes it interesting that TORN takes a stance :)

Why I Do and Don't support the Pride Day Logo · · 4 likes

I disagree about the second group.

If you see a swedish flag, for most of the world that flag means nothing. They are indifferent to it.

A USA flag, for most US citizens the flag will bring emotions attached to it (due to flag-raising child indoctrination) but for Afghans or Iranians it will bring completely different emotions (most often hate or desire to burn it). Me, as a Belgian am indifferent to it.

People responding to the LGBT flag are emotionally invested, where most of us are indifferent. If you feel negative emotion towards a flag being put up on TORN, even because you "don`t want that opinion in your face", I hate to break it to you, but you have a problem with what the flag stands for. Not homophobe or whatever, but you are uncomfortable with it..

You can try to find out why you are uncomfortable with it, or just shout tough guy language ( e.g. "I don`t need that shoved down my throat", " Children shouldnt be subjected to this sort of sexual experience").

I am indifferent, you are emotionally invested sick

Why is everyone so horny on managers?

I have seen countless managements drive companies down the drain..

It`s why I love torn, it`s completely the opposite from a sterile clean `perfect picture` company.
It has drama, no adds, very human ( who doesn't make mistakes? ) and a soul.

Don`t let management run this into the ground with deadlines, a vision or god forbid `blue sky thinking`..

Keep on going strong torn!!

Do you think a civil war could break out in the US ·

Thanks for your response,

I do not know the details about the Texas story. My question all in all is more about the bigger picture.. I don't know what you think about that?

Do you think a civil war could break out in the US · · 3 likes

I recently red an argument about brexit here, were both pro and remain were able to have a decent polite discussion.

I must say I haven't seen that recently in discussions with US citizens, dems vs reps. Both sides just call each other names and do not engage in discussions anymore. Both sides are polarized.
Instead of having a common enemy like in the good ol days (eg. the Russians), now they see the other side as a bigger enemy then the Russians for instance.

Both sides desensitize the other side, instead of calling them by name (and thus respecting the other side), they just use words like libtard, Russian troll, ... and thus insulting the other side mostly, scoring points for their side and stoking the flame.

It seems the US military cannot do exercises anymore in Texas, without the governor activating the national guard in response.. (exercise jade helm) If locals distrust their own army, there must be something seriously wrong wouldnt you think?

Both sides read and watch different media outlets, each with a different version of the 'truth'. Both try to claim the truth, specifically with the intent on denying the other side their version.

Both sides increasingly live amongst political kin, claiming their son/daughter would never marry someone from the other side (and usually there aren't any in their neighborhood from the other side).

This separation grows bigger and bigger, both sides increasingly hate each other, a president from one side gets sidelined in the next elections, then the other side has a president again, frustrating the other side even more, the language on both sides hardens further till literally on the brink of war rhetoric.

Incidents like Charlottesville happen more frequent, frustrating both sides, .. till somewhere along the line too much is too much and civil war erupts..

What do you think?

I am all for discussion. The thing is a discussion can only be a discussion if both parties can agree to what the discussion is about.

So it all is about framing your discussion and giving the other party (opinion) some food and respect as well. Ask simple minded questions and you get simple minded answers and trolls.

For instance: Should half of the world population be exterminated to save the human race from extinction in the long run?

You can have all the discussion in the world around that one, but the thing is that the question isn`t framed. What do you wanna talk about? Exterminating people? Saving the world? Is it even necessary? ---> no framing whatsoever.

Wanna have a decent discussion or are interested in them? Look at the delta reward system from Reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/changemyview/

If you post a starting post opening up with your views, make yourself vulnerable and open to discussion, people will get out of their high ivory tower. Start shouting names and views from in your ivory tower and you will find yourself surrounded by others shouting out of their ivory tower.
