Level: 16 ~ Activity (average time online per day/week): daily for a few minutes up to hours ~ Current Battle Stats: message me ~ Any preferences to what kind of a faction you want (do you want payouts, a warring faction, a peaceful faction, etc): active faction. Not for newbies. ~ Any other information that you think would help you find a faction.: i stepped down as fluffle coleader because I cannot rebuild it on my own without help. There was no help. I would just like to be a normal player, merit hunter, and have fun again rather than responsibilities over an entire small faction.
If you want muscle, you need to eat enough protein to keep the muscle you have now and to support more growth. Basically diet and exercise. To do this, figure out the energy you burn while resting and eat 10 to 20% more than that to put on weight. Also, use an accurate macro calculator. Follow your macros (not exactly, but do try to hit them relatively close) Make protein the first macro to hit and then adjust accordingly if you did not gain weight within a week of doing that. Up the protein and the carbs. Use healthy oils on everything you cook. Look up protein shakes you can make at home and try to eat the most at the biggest meal of your day if you have a hard time eating that much. Also, invest in protein powder. It will help immensely for hitting that protein macro for less money. It does not matter when you eat as long as your hitting your macros. You need to have fat in order to gain muscle because fat allows your body to absorb vitamins and all that great stuff. Even though you need to eat and eat a lot, I hope you make healthy decisions doing so.
Also, lift heavy. If you can lift a weight easily for 15 reps per set, it's too light. Try for 5 to 6 reps in a set with that weight with good form. I'd do full body exercises every other day so you can get enough rest to heal your muscles. Seriously, safety is key. If you hurt yourself, you will hurt your progress. Do it right the first time. Switch up your routine so you don't plateau. Every week, I'd try to up your weight even if it is just a pound or two when you are lifting to increase your strength and your muscles. I'd update your macros every month to make sure you are still getting what you need to keep what you have and gain more.
I always recommend taking pictures so you can physically see your progress. Also take measurements. You might surprise yourself. You might hate me, but all in all, it is all tracking foods, macros and beefing up your routine.
Check your nutrition and you might kill me, but I did a 30 day squat challenge and went down a pants size. I stayed the same weight though. Work your lower more and lift some weights. Muscle burns calories when you are resting because it ups your metabolism. Cardio is great and all, but I'm more of a weight person when they are around because I know the benefits. Try it!
I'd like to correct the whole muscle weighs more than fat comment. Muscle is more compact but a pound of muscle is the same weight as a pound of fat, it is just taking up much less space.
I would also like to comment that You should be eating lots of protein if you want to get gains. Too little and your body can't grow. Too much and you will hurt your kidneys. However, I doubt you will eat too much protein as you are working out and trying to build muscle. I recommend a recovery drink or meal a half hour after your workout and a meal an hour or two before just to have the energy to keep going.
I wouldn't calorie deficit too much because you might put your body into a starving state and it will hold onto fat because it thinks it is starving. If you want gains in muscle, I recommend a nutrient dense diet. While cardio is good and should be done just for the benefits of your heart, it's not a great way to burn fat. I do high intensity interval training for that because I hate cardio and it is relatively quick. However, I also lack a gym currently, so I can't try to gain muscle other than body weight exercises, so it's slow going.
Lifting weights will give you gains, but if you don't switch up your routine, you can and will plateau. I'm not a guy, but I'd switch it up every month and see how it goes. Also, measure yourself. Screw scales. They mess with your head. I did a squat challenge, stayed the same weight but went down a jeans size. (albeit on accident) I'd like to gain weight, but I don't let the number get to me like it used to. If you must know your weight, weight weekly or biweekly. Measure weekly though. I doubt that you are a big guy, but you can also take pictures to see gains over the months. It's more of a mental thing though. It happens a lot with weight loss where people still see themselves as 250+ pounds when they are 160 pounds. I think pictures would be lots more motivating for muscle gains because you go from something you are not happy with to "Dang, I did all this work and I look great!"
If you need background from me, I have none. I'm a dual humanities major. I just really love exercise science stuff and would love to be a personal trainer someday.
One last thing. Lift what you can for a week and take notes on the amount of weight, reps and sets, then challenge yourself to lift slightly more the next time you use that muscle group. If not for actual muscle, it'll increase strength a little more. I'm more for practical strength. If the zombie apocalypse comes, I'd like to survive it, so don't forget chin ups and movements like that because those are the real measurements of strength for me.
If you like gore... I really recommend Elfen Lied. It is beautiful. And if that is too serious for you, Soul Eater has comical violence. At least... it's comical to me. Lots of blood. It is 51 episodes. It is not serious in the beginning and then it changes gears somewhat in. I do think you will like it.
