Did this mission with a Diamond Bladed Knife, and it won't register the defeat. I'm assuming it's a problem with either the weapon's listed type, or the mission itself is checking for a different type than what's written. I did a mug and a hospitalization but not a leave, though it lists 'defeat' instead of something specific in the objectives. I don't mind attempting it in another browser but it has every sign of a small logical error so I'd rather not waste the energy.

Opera switched to Chromium (what everything but Firefox uses now, a cause for concern as Chromium is developed by Google) thus the compatible extensions. The difference between Chromium and Chrome is more or less just the features tied to Google accounts.

It's completely random. The longer you have it the more it'll pay for itself, but it's all a matter of luck. You might as well be asking how much people average per week from the lottery.
These sorts of problems are inevitable in this kind of game when anything resembling an honor system is used. The API is being developed and I'm hoping there will be some way to pull basic account info (namely ID and age) so Travelrun will be able to associate bad info with the players, it would be easy to set up a scoring system and prevent people with too many wrong reports from being able to submit, and if age can be pulled then it'd also allow putting a restriction in place so newly created accounts (multis) can't be used as a proxy easily.
I don't know where the game was advertised, but it was. Given what I know about the years the game was advertised it was likely on flash portals and such a game I was an admin on did advertising on Kings of Chaos I think it was called and a few major flash game portals (Newgrounds being the only one I can recall now), though I suppose it wouldn't be much of a shock if Ched opted for the more simple text ads Google (and all it's offshoots) have/had as those services are/were pay-per-click. You can get a large influx of traffic just by doing that, the only question is - what kind of picture would a text-based game like Torn (formerly was) use?

Wall_Street [984129]TIGRRRRRR [132684]Crossblades [1593725]If it was legal why did dex get nerfed because of it ?
It was legal from day 1. Legal for ... what ? 2500 ? Maybe 3000 days ?
I repeat LEGAL. Not cheating, not abuse. L-E-G-A-L
Read the history books newb.
Where does one find a torn history book?
I was wondering that myself. Maybe if there's history books for Torn that Church will have some sort of Bible!

About the same for me. I don't think I've traded in years since all the trade functions mentioned in this thread and shown in the screenshot are new to me, though I wouldn't have fallen for it because of the stock prices myself. What was said before about experience being key is the truth of the matter, call it whatever you will (which you're all bickering about a label and ignoring the content) but understanding the basic logic behind these sorts of problems is 90% of the difficulty of catching one you haven't seen before, and the easiest way to grasp the logic is to see some examples like this. The other 10%? Don't get giddy or in a rush about a good deal, that sort of thing will make you overlook clues you would otherwise catch. All-in-all consider Torn a greenhouse you can learn about scamming/misdirection logic from and you'll do fine in the game as well as prepare yourself for the future.
Ah, on another note: Running SH is nice and all, but you're not the judge, jury, nor executioner. You're limited on the information you can gather and the most you can do is add another entry into a database that isn't accessible enough without the original userscript to have much (if any) influence on the players who are listed in it. Why you feel the site lends you enough credibility for you to act the way you are now is beyond me, but to any who might've thought it did your stubborn/prideful attitude is sure to make them think twice about such.
Stray [1425669]As far as I've seen, most arguments are valid, either against or in favour of this "RESPO" version. Everyone has probably picked a side by now, but it's just personal opinions, based on our likings and dislikings, whether taking into account the future of the game, or Ched's future wealth, or our future comfort playing it.
However, I can understand that many people approve of this layout, and it's obviously Ched's choice - and there's no fighting against the path the admin has drawn and taken so much pain to make real - so I must point out the essential purpose of this thread: to survey how many people would use a "TEXT ONLY" version, if it was available as an option.
By all means, leave it the way it is, let the game grow and progress into the horizon of web standards; but how does that invalidate the possibility of having an option, on the settings page, allowing us to play using a text only version? For the sake of our bandwidth, for our scrolling sanity.
Maybe it's just me, but I think having an "old school Torn" option would be a perfectly viable commodity, just like we had an "old school sidebar" option.
Simple to answer, really. The way city finds are now wouldn't translate over to an old-school option, if this is the trend (which it likely will be unless there's enough outcry, I can't see why else you'd bring a graphic designer on payroll) then more and more text-only would be either a big advantage or a big disadvantage with people choosing one over the other based on getting ahead - depending on what and how things are implemented. It's all a moot point though, like you said Ched has made it clear he's going to stand by his decision, so we can only wait until he asks for input before we get any say in things.
Well, people think the old players need to be nurtured but it's the new players that keep the game alive, even if every old player left the new players would still have a lot of catching up to do meaning the game could continue whereas the opposite is unfortunately not true. Appealing to new players means meeting current standards and having a level of appeal. Game survives off DP purchases, some new players that want to get ahead in the game will empty their wallet to get TC$. That's the concept of F2P games, they make the most money off the 'whales' as they're called. I wanted the game to move away from that so that we could have a game more in line with what you all seemingly want now, but not enough people were willing to subscribe when DPs were no longer an item, which was the business model that would have allowed it. Don't know if Ched has a bunch of 'yes men' around him or not, in the end this is just a small game ran by a small team, but even though there's a lot of change for veteran players to adapt to, it's still not enough to guarantee growth of the game for years to come and if the game stops growing, Ched won't be able to afford having developers on payroll let alone working on it himself when the money is all dried up. He could do a lot more with the graphics, but he's only doing more negligible things and keeping everything communicated through text because he also wants this to remain a text-based game.
