You're right the suggestion doesn't address this, but the suggestion is replying to the second post on that bug about the chat windows. However, that appears to be the correct bug report for the issue based what was said in the main report. "U cant open link in new tab with this feature on mobile as both of them do the same thing(i.e keep holding a link)." and was marked as a bug.
It's not just hiding it either, attempting to show a tutorial and getting it to stay also doesn't work (with the same 404 error).
This is the "it" the tutorial suggests and almost every page I go to has this link to the home page.

I know they recently changed it so you can put "0" in the gym so you don't accidentally train something you don't want to, which I believe grays out the button. Could you check and make sure it isn't that? Otherwise a screenshot might help staff figure it out.
I don't think there will be any new updates to the iOS app, but if its somehow a server side issue there could possibly be a fix i guess https://www.torn.com/forums.php#/p=threads&f=1&t=16113771&b=0&a=0
