Pm/Mail me to discuss!
It's incredibly frustrating that you can send and receive mail while flying/overseas all you like, but those with newsletter access cannot send one out. Currently the only option is to wait until you're back in Torn, or have someone else send it.
To solve this, I propose a simple solution of having a toggle on the Compose Message page to change your message from sending to a player to sending to your faction:
Once toggled, the "Name: " field can be grayed out / inactive.
For simplicity sake, this should probably also be added to the normal Compose Message feature.
Edit: should also make "Anonymous" and "Faction Newsletter" mutually exclusive. I can already imagine some people with that feature.

This is a direct copy/paste of this thread. Ched has asked for more community input. So, community, give some input!
That' said, the +5.00 accuracy from tracer ammunition just seems so... lackluster.
For example, let's take the following scenarios:
Assumptions of a very basic setup
Base weapon accuracy of 60 (approximately an Armalite)
No accuracy mods
Combat training completed
0 Faction tree specials in accuracy
10/10 weapon merits
100% weapon experience
Ratios are expressed as effective totals
1:1 ratio of speed to dexterity results in a 65% hit chance.
Adding tracer ammunition bumps this up to a 70% hit chance.
1:5 ratio is a 25.08% hit chance.
Tracer bumps this up to 27.01%
5:1 ratio is a 86.50% hit chance.
Tracer bumps it up to 88.43%.
In the 1:1 ratio scenario you've already got a decent enough chance to hit that tracer just isn't worth it, you're better off throwing a flash so the other person can't hit you. Over 25 turns you've got plenty of time to win.
In the 1:5 scenario the boost is so negligible that the small bonus just isn't worthwhile.
In the 5:1 scenario you're already so high that there's no point.
Now, let's take into comparison the other special ammos:
These adjustment values are far stronger than what tracer ammunition can provide. Even for piercing ammo, taking the likely scenario of hitting a ~45.00 armor chest piece boosts your final damage done by 22.5%. Granted, this is done post-calculation of str:def ratio, but I argue that doing these kinds of boosted damage numbers is in a completely different league than that of tracer. In almost every scenario I would take a melatonin over using tracer ammo -- not to mention combining a melatonin with PI or INC ammo for best effect.
In the end, I'm proposing that tracer ammunition be boosted to a +10.00 accuracy.
Alternatively, Proxima has suggested that instead of a boost to accuracy, a boost to critical hit chance while keeping the +5.00 accuracy boost.

Edit: combined to have everything in one post
In my original thread Ched mentioned that he'd rather not add Crit to tracer ammo as it would add another damage-based component and upon reflection I think I agree with that.
After doing some more math, I'm going to stand behind my initial +10.00 adjustment.
Taking the same assumptions as my original post, here are what the differences would be between having no tracer ammo (0), as it currently is (+5), and +7.5 or +10, for a range of different your speed : opponent dex ratios:
I believe the purpose of special ammunition is meant to help take down opponents who you otherwise would struggle against. In the current form, the best outcome is in a 1:1 ratio where you'd gain the +5%, however this puts you from a 65% chance to a 70% hit chance. This is already a pretty good hit chance, and a 1:1 ratio isn't exactly what I'd call a tough fight that you'd normally struggle against.
I think the 0.5 ratio is a more common scenario, particularly with the sudden spike in dex-based builds, and 0.2 is probably going to be common within the year. Currently tracers give a 3.37% boost up to 47.22% in this scenario: a +10.00 from tracers would change this to a 6.74% hit chance boost up to 50.59%. To me this is more in-line with what the purpose of special ammunition is: to give you a bit more of a fighting chance against tough opponents.
For those worried about this making high-accuracy weapons overly strong, here's a few scenarios I ran as well. These are ignoring using triggers, as those are a one-off:
63.00 accuracy (approx. a GAK) with tripod, thermal sights, combat training, 10/10 merits and faction tree, 100% weapon exp at 0.5 ratio.
49.75% hit chance boosted to 56.49%
69.00 accuracy (high-end Benelli) with a custom grip, same max other bonuses as above at 0.5 ratio.
51.77% hit chance boosted to 58.52%

This is something I've been curious about for a long time, and with the recent buff to temporary weapons in an attempt to make them more viable are versatile I think it's time to mention it.
All of the damage-dealing temporary weapons do not have weapon experience:
Brick
Ninja stars
Fireworks
Grenade
Stick Grenade
Claymore Mine
HEG
Trout
Snowball
Throwing Knife
Molotov Cocktail
Book
Nail Bomb
And yet, these weapons DO have an option for merit mastery adding a boost to weapon damage and accuracy. So why not give us the option to gain weapon experience as well, for another slight buff? Especially for the so-called "skill weapons" that were given a huge buff to crits: throwing knives and ninja stars.
But ttyper, by only getting to use 1 (2 with a handbag) per attack, that will take forever!
I don't care, let me play my game how I want to dammit.
Edit:
@Ched,
Fists and kick too plzkthnx?

Before I begin, I'd like to agree at the start that the SYS benefit block is already an interesting purchase in it's own right. For those who are unaware, the BB provides "supreme firewall software for you and your company."
This translates to:
Your company cannot be hacked and money stolen.
Your anonymous bounties cannot be revealed.
Your battle stats and cash on hand cannot be spied.
Edit: turns out this is false.
The hacking immunity is great in it's own right, but let's be honest it's reserved for the ultra-rich who decide to carry tens of billions in their company. As it stands, there is only a paltry 4.2b shares of SYS total; it's clearly a stock that is not highly acquired.
The actually secret bounties are more for trolling than anything.
The part that this suggestion builds off of is the battle stat invisibility. Off the top of my head, I can only think of two players who use this reliably: rapid_riser [262223] and DeaLeR [375042]. With the addition of stat modifiers being visible in-fight, I think this could further open this niche and really allow the "stat stealth" build to be viable.
The way I envision this working is the player's base modifiers from the following are hidden:
Drug addiction and effects
Books
Merits
Faction specials
Education bonuses
Radiation sickness
So, when a player initiates an attack on someone with a SYS BB, they see something like this:
Afterwords, effects from temporaries can still be added on top (i.e., flashbangs or syringes), but the player only sees the effects from that temporary --> open for debate and thoughts, as I can see this being confusing for some.
Selling point: Having a SYS BB hide stat modifiers allows for expanding upon a particular niche style of gameplay, that of hiding your stats for a significant cost (currently around $1.4b). While there are some players who do this already, they are extremely few and far between. Furthermore, opening this style of gameplay up will 1) draw some more money out of the economy, and 2) shut up the people whining that they don't like that enemies can see their modifiers.
Edit: CJ's revelation that it is a theater company special, not SYS, which hides stat spies took the wind out of my sails a bit on this one. Nevertheless, I'd be interested in hearing what Ched's thoughts are on the idea, or even tacking this ability on to the theater special.

Seems fairly simple to me. Clearly cheaters are incentivised to use or make multis to get more tokens per day to spin the slots. When something is restricted to only x amount per day per account then these cheaters see using multis as a way to boost their chances by getting more spins in. At some point the odds are weighted in favor of a cheater winning.
E.g., 100 legitimate players spend 150 tokens for 15,000 spins. 20 players with 10 multis each get to do 31,500 spins.

I'm sorry but this goes completely against any notion of what a ranked system should be. There's no reason for a faction to be up against 6x their stats, let alone winning by outside interference.
This is the equivalent of using an aimbot in a first person shooter and saying it's leveling the playing field. The playing field is not level, nor should it be.
The strongest in Torn should be the ones at the top, else why have a rank at all?

I'd just like to clarify something here:
Adding a 15 second delay to landing abroad or in Torn in order to prevent mugging is an acceptable mechanic. However, adding as much as a 3 second delay to coming out of the hospital during a ranked war, the results of which often generate many billions of dollars in caches, is an arbitrary mechanic?

First & last bump before it goes to the auction house.
Taking offers on double-bonus scimitar, 7% expose and 8% frenzy. Hit those soft spots often, and then keep on hitting harder and harder each time.

You keep bringing up the Switzerland argument like it's some sort of golden idol of neutrality.
If they were truly being neutral then they wouldn't have tried to cover it up for 50 years.
Then once it came out people started rethinking Switzerland as a truly neutral actor in WW2. Some even thought Switzerland should have been punished for their role.
Even a cursory Google search will bring these things up. You might want to rest your hat on a different straw man, cause this one doesn't help Nuke's case at all.

Today when going to withdraw 100m from my vault I noticed I ended up withdrawing everything. This happened to me once before about a month or so ago when trying to give money out of the faction vault, but I wasn't able to do a screen capture (I'd be willing to bet this is likely what happened to cause those big vault empties awhile back).
When I ran into it on the faction vault page it only occured when doing the 'm' notation for million. Using the 'b' for billion was fine. In that case using the 'm' resulted in auto-filling the entire faction balance.
I've attached the screen capture below. Unfortunately I have no idea what caused it or how to replicate it. Both times have been on Android version 13, Google Chrome browser. To note, using the deposit field was fine and behaved normally.

I'll do my best, but since I don't care can't be creative I decided to use some Mad Libs.
This is for sure how the war is going to go down:
One day Monarch was Attacking with his Huge Karma. Suddenly he crashed into a Powerful Natural Selection and fell down. He broke his Hands so he ran to the hospital. The doctor took some X-Rays and discovered that he was Hospitalized. The doctor put on a Dirty Bomb, gave him a Meme and recommended that he take Butterfly. Six Weeks later he was healthy and playing once again.

I'll send encouragement pics to remind everyone what they're fighting for.
Gutted that I'm going to be missing out on WW2; headed to the real beaches Mar 3 - Apr 2.
GLHF my friends.
