DOTA looks a lot more involved and strategic, any pointers for someone who is interested in starting? OR anyone willing to team up so I don't have to deal with idiots who don't understand these type of games?
When factions actually had their own EXTERNAL Forums because there was no such thing as factions. Literally the community made up their "factions" recruited people and hospitalized other people in factions they had an issue with. This was before formal factions happened, and people actually cared about being in their Factions, if you were too low of a level you weren't in a faction, there was no training factions or anything. You were either in SUN or I forgot the other big faction, I was in SUN for a little while. IRC was bumping constantly between #fights or just the lobby. Busting out Stacy for being a fraud live in IRc, just so many things.
Back when I started there was much more community. People offering advice and helping people out, but there was also much more intense hatred and war. It functioned more like an actual society, now people just get bounty bound or hit locked where they are literally in the hospital 24/7 and will never not be. It is rather interesting, while back in the day it took a great deal to get yourself locked in the old white screen, now it seems even the smallest thing gets your hospitalized. I.E. I will probably get attacked just for posting on here. Except I have no money, and rarely log on, but that is just my .02 cents take it or leave it, really doesn't matter to me, I never felt as connected with new players as I did back in IRC when it was hosted off an external client and factions were literally external forums that you had to rent. You could go into the lobby and be greeted by staff and tons of other players, and joke and have a good time. Bust out dudes for pretending to be female, stuff like that. Before the gold diggers, when the highest level was like 35 or something, and all staff had super edited stats so they could never die. Or the community take down events to kill giant Easter bunnies and the like, just felt like more of a community.
Was great, joined with my cousin and some guys from another online browser game (darkageofwythia). But that was A LONG time ago, when there was a sense of community.
