In Torn Merch Design

If you’ve perused our Redbubble storefront recently, then you’ve noticed that our designs haven’t had an update since many of you were merely a glint in Duke’s eye. The relevance of the players who were famous enough in 2019 to warrant special mentions has long since waned. Like, who the fuck is Harley?

 

If you've ever thought you could do better, this is your chance to prove it and have your art included in the launch of our new shop which is coming soon™.

 

We want to give you an opportunity to rep Torn your way. We’re looking to our amazing community to submit high-quality graphics that we can use as designs for a completely redone merch store. We aren’t only running this as a community event because we’re tired of hearing complaints about us putting devs onto visuals instead of more “important” updates; no one knows our community and what they want better than you, so it’s time for you to show us what Torn is. 

 

Your design can be for a t-shirt, hoodie, mug, stickers, notebook, hat, pillowcase… almost anything. Your design must be your own work, but you can create it either manually or digitally. Feel free to show it off as a digital mockup on an item, especially if you think it’s best suited for something specific. If you’ve got a product in mind and you’re not sure if it’s something we can accommodate, please reach out to me, PrincessJulie, and I’ll let you know if it’s doable. 



RULES AND ADVICE

 

Design a Torn-themed graphic suitable for being used on merchandise.

You must be able to provide us with a high-quality .png file of the image.

Include your player name or ID and the year somewhere in the image, but be able to provide us with a copy of your artwork that doesn’t contain this information upon request.

You may enter a maximum of three designs to this contest and they must all be in the same post.

You may not use any entries from previous competitions.

Do not post anything explicit or in contravention of Torn’s rules.

You must receive consent prior to using another player’s likeness or perceived likeness in your design.

Your design must not violate any existing copyright.

The use of AI-generated images is strictly prohibited.

By entering this competition you are consenting to your image being used by Torn and added to our storefront for purchase.

The decision of the judges shall be final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.

All entries must be submitted by 23:59:59 on Wednesday the 30th of September.

 

 

 

There will be no one singular winner. All winners will receive the usual first prize for community events, the champion honor bar, and a product sample of their design. In the event that one or more of your submissions are deemed usable by our team, a Torn representative will contact you to arrange for the delivery of the sample product.

In Elimination War Cry

We all know that no one reads in text-based games, so to pander to the masses, we’re looking for you to record yourself hyping up your troops. You can make a chant, a cry, or just a really inspiring grunt if you’re on sticks and stones, provided it motivates your elimination team to take up their arms.

 

Your entry should be no longer than 15 seconds and must include your own voice. Your entry can be audio only, but if you are an overachiever and want to include visuals then you are welcome to submit a video. You should mention a team’s name and try to include its theme in your cry. 

 

RULES

 

Create a video or sound clip displaying your best Elimination War Cry.

Your clip must be no more than 15 seconds long. 

Please say your name/ID and the year 2026 at the start or end of the video. This will not count toward your 15 second time limit unless your name takes six years to say. 

You may submit up to three entries in one post for this competition.

You may not use any entries from previous competitions.

Do not post anything explicit or in contravention of Torn’s rules.

Keep your entry PG-13 or we’ll hire you as staff and assign you to go through every single post in Politics and Law.

In Elimination Banners

The new and improved elimination competition is back, so help us spread some team spirit by creating banners for players to show off! Even if you aren’t chosen as a winner, you will still get the satisfaction of knowing that others are proudly showing off your work. That is unless you’ve just created some cringe hornypost about an inanimate object, in which case you just need to log out and touch grass for real.

 

You don’t have to be a member of the team you’re designing for, so if a name speaks to you then show us what you’ve got. You can enter three designs total, and they can be for one or more of the teams taking part. Here’s some inspiration from last year's winners.

In Elimination Memes

We all know that the elimemenation is the real battle happening in September, where teams take turns making each other and themselves into jokes. Maybe some brain surgeon on your team is trying to real money trade right in front of an admin on your team, or maybe a loose cannon enemy is trying to get your best players to drop out of the competition. Elimination is always drama-filled so share with us your comedy gold from the event!

In Easter Bunny Dress-up Contest

Torn's Easter Bunny is a certificate cutie patootie. Everyone wants a piece of him, from his ears through to his nose and his cute little egg launcher. We'd like you to show your appreciation for Peter Cottontail by dressing up in a DIY costume built from things around your house. 

 

Your costume must be obviously home made, with no professional or store-bought elements accepted. You could make a set of ears out of flip flops, fashion a pink ski mask out of pantyhose, or a full bunny outfit out of your father's gimp suit he doesn't know you've found at the back of the closet. Any wild and wacky variations of the Easter Bunny's outfit are acceptable, so long as they are batshit insane and completely handcrafted.

Make yourself look like Torn's Easter Bunny using items from around your home.

 

Include your name or ID and the year on a piece of paper somewhere in your image.

 

You may not use entries from previous years or real skin from a dead rabbit, even if it was pink.

In Easter Eggventure

Eggster is a traumatic time for eggs. They are painted, cracked, and consumed without a single thought given to their welfare. This year, we'd like you to coddle your eggs and take them on a little adventure. Sorry, eggventure.


Your task is simple. Film a 30 second video of an egg undergoing some kind of activity, pleasant or horrible, preferably with a Torn theme to it. You could take a painted egg for a workout at the local gym. Maybe you'll inject your egg with drugs and show it overdosing in an alleyway. Or perhaps you'll construct an elaborate Rube Goldberg machine to ferry your egg from Torn to Japan in search of Xanax. Whatever you film your egg doing, make sure it's eggciting.

Create a 30-second video of an egg on a Torn-themed adventure.


Include your player name or ID and the year at the start of the video.


You may enter a maximum of three videos to this contest and they must all be in the same post.

In Easter Resurrection Artwork

Jesus famously pulled off a sick comeback by rising from the dead on Eggster Sunday, but what's the greatest resurrection you've ever seen in Torn City? Was it a player rising from the fed? Maybe it's Torn itself after we recovered from the infamous RESPO dip to reach nearly 100k players? Or is it the story of how Relentless died and reemerged as a subjectively beautiful butterfly in the form of Monarch? You could even draw a theoretical resurrection if you wanted, one that you'd hope to happen in future, like the return of Dog Tags or Torn of the Dead.


Whatever it is, we want you to draw, paint, or sketch your resurrection story for all of Torn City to see. You can create your artwork by hand or digitally, but the use of AI filters and tools must be minimal. Any entries suspected of being entirely or mostly AI generated will be disqualified. We're running this contest in order to reward talented artists, not those who slapped some words into a text box and clicked Send.

Your artwork may be crafted physically or digitally, AI use is limited to the use of filters and inbuilt non-generative tools or we will trap you in a cave for three days.

We stopped running the egg decorating competition because we'd only get about two good entries each year. Don't @ us, it's your own fault.

In Torn City Times Missed Connections

Have you ever read those missed connections adverts in the newspaper or on craigslist? You know, those posts where two strangers met but didn’t exchange numbers, so one of them reaches out to try and find them.

 


We’d like you to write a Torn missed connection ad. You can direct it toward anyone you like. A special someone who hospitalised you, mugged you, scammed you, or revived you, and vanished before you could say thanks. Keep it desperate. Keep it dramatic. Whether they stole your wallet or your heart, this is your chance to find the stranger who left you bleeding in a ranked war and wondering what could have been. 


The ad should be created digitally and resemble the missed connections format used in craigslist, newspapers, or similar. Do not reference anyone by name; describe only their appearance and the situation in which you met. We will allow you to create the newspaper style image using a template or AI if you wish, but the text must be your own work.

Write a Torn missed connection advert referencing a real or fictional meet cute that happened in Torn.


The advert must be created digitally and resemble the style used in newspapers or on Craigslist.


I’ll say it again... you must create an image. If you just write your advert in a post on the thread we’ll assume you have the brain of a twelve year old and fed you for playing underage.

In Love Juice Advertisement

Love Juice. It’s pink, tastes rank, and goes down your throat real easy. I just made up that tagline on the spot. Perhaps you’ve got a better one?


We’d like you to create a 30-second TV or radio commercial promoting Love Juice and its return to its original formula. You can create a primetime Superbowl mega-ad with detailed visuals and sound effects, or you can put together a tight audio-only radio spot. Either way, the advert should feel like a real campaign, complete with a clear hook, escalating energy, a snappy tagline, and at least one enthusiastic (preferably unhinged) customer testimonial.

Your entry should use traditional advertising techniques such as escalation, customer testimonials, or emotional appeal to sell the product.

In Torn Valentine's Card

What is love? Baby don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt me, no more.

Valentine’s Day is a very special occasion designed to test us all. If you’re in a relationship, it’s a barometer of how much effort you’re willing to make now that you’ve both let yourselves go. For those lonely hearts, the inevitable flood of heart-shaped everything is a gentle nudge toward a romantic bath with a plugged-in toaster.


In Torn, Valentine’s Day is marked with violence. We’d like you to design a Valentine’s card that could only be sold in Torn City. How would Torn citizens express their love for each other? Would they profess their devotion through the sharing of their vault? Perhaps they’d take an anxious angle and pray you’d never experience a fallout worse than Chromatic. Or maybe there would be a dark, sinister element to the card:


“If you won't marry me I'll hurt myself. I mean it. I'll put all my merits into awareness."


Please focus your efforts on the front of the card, creating a visually pleasing design that clearly references both Torn and Valentine’s Day. Designs which include the inside and the back of the card will result in real-life kisses from the entire Torn team probably do well.

In Torn Advert Contest

Are you sick being spammed by all those AI-riddled Torn ads on Facebook and Instagram? Then help us to create some authentic content by donating your face to our latest advertising campaign! Not literally, of course.

 

All you have to do is upload a short video of yourself talking about Torn City. You should start by describing what Torn is all about in one sentence. Then we’d like you to share some brief thoughts on what Torn City means to you. Your video should start with ten seconds of you pretending to listen to a question, followed by 30 seconds of content. It must be in vertical mobile format, which means 9:16. Please try to express your true emotions in a natural way. There’s no need to start crying halfway through, but any inadvertent giggles, breaks, or laughs are perfectly acceptable to leave in.

 

 

RULES AND ADVICE

 

Create a 30 second video where you describe Torn in one sentence and tell us what the game means to you.

Film your clip in good lighting and remember to wipe the camera before shooting.

Film all content vertically, in 9:16 aspect ratio.

Add an extra 3-5 seconds break between sentences.

Don't add any editing, filters, or colour to the raw footage.

Turn off all ACs, fans, and other loud devices while filming.

Avoid wearing clothes with logos or very bright clothing.

Keep your background visually clean and decluttered.

Avoid swearing and keep your content PG-13.

 

There will be no one singular winner. All winners will receive the usual first prize for community events and the champion honor bar. In the event that one or more submissions are deemed usable by our marketing team, Torn will contact you to arrange for the relevant paperwork to be completed.

In Christmas Torn Portraits

Is your dog just the cutest? Do you have an aggressively hot wife / husband / neighbor that you’d like to show off? Then why not enter our Christmas Torn Portraits competition and plaster their images all over the internet for freaks to see!


This competition is essentially a combined version of our Pet Portrait and Family Portrait contests. All you have to do is submit a festive Torn photo of yourself, you and your loved ones, or a pet to enter. The image should have both a festive theme and have at least one reference to Torn in there. Taping up a bunch of hamsters into a ball and writing TORN on the side in marker pen will not count. 

 


RULES


Take a festive photo of yourself, your family, your friends, or your pets. 

Please include a Torn theme in the photo somewhere, even just a reference, like a large framed portrait of Ched or a TORN tattoo on your baby’s forehead.

Include your name or ID and the year on a piece of paper somewhere in your image. It cannot be added digitally afterward.

You may not use entries from previous years. 

Please obtain prior consent from all subjects. Yes, this includes your pets. A pawprint stamp on a release form will suffice.

You may submit up to three entries in one post.

Don’t complain about us not running a food competition this year. Your efforts are usually terrible and we’re letting Duke’s Dump Giveaway handle it this time around.
