"Coward faction leaders": a new faction's leader confronts the filler-war habit

On 21 Jun 2017 NuffleMurda [2061882] started the thread "Coward faction leaders" in the General Discussion board.^[1][2]

The thread ran until 18 Aug 2017. At the archive's last fetch it had 374 replies and 5,399 views.^[1]

The opening post drew 40 likes and 84 dislikes. Several of NuffleMurda's own later replies were heavily disliked too, with 51, 9 and 16 dislikes on three of them.^[2][3][4][5]

The opening post and the first answers

NuffleMurda wrote that factions with 700,000 and 1,400,000 respect, with a minimum of 1,000,000 in battle stats per player, had declared war on a new faction of mostly level 3-5 members. They put that faction's combined battle stats at not more than maybe 300,000, and asked whether the leaders were nothing but absolute cowards. Participant claim^[2]

Proxima [1879587] replied that NuffleMurda was being used as a filler faction. They wrote that such factions need fresh targets to build a chain counter, and that NuffleMurda would have to accept it at least until the new warring modes were released.^[6]

freakmonger [363963] advised NuffleMurda to get off the forums. They wrote that Torn is a ruthless place and that posting might bring more attention from leaders who like making small factions squirm.^[7]

Butters [34298] wrote that the two factions had lower level players who needed targets to hit so they could contribute to chains. In their words it was a numbers game, with no bravery or cowardice in it.^[8]

NuffleMurda answered that the lowest level players in those factions were level 15 and 16, and that they were still a bunch of spineless cowards. They said they were level 11 and hit level 13 players as often as level 5s. Participant claim^[3]

Proxima asked why NuffleMurda had asked the question if they would ignore the answers, and wrote that it had nothing to do with cowardice.^[9]

Mockery, and a moderator's reply

bloodbaine [1580503] posted "Looks like we found a new filler boys!" with an image. shak [1592807] told NuffleMurda that starting the thread had made things worse for their faction and called them a complete tool.^[10][11]

Collete [1389080] posted a parody of NuffleMurda's faction description in the style of a recruitment blurb. Joke^[12]

Thrie [148961], listed as a forum moderator, wrote that they felt they were the cowardly faction leader being referenced. They described a NooB program that accepted 20 members under 1.5 Mil total stats, and said such members needed factions like NuffleMurda's to contribute during war. Participant claim^[13]

On 22 Jun 2017 Thrie wrote about chaining 2.0. They said it would let a faction chain without being at war, and that factions filling their warbase with 500 members to avoid being filled could become targets without being declared on.^[14]

On 22 Jun 2017 NuffleMurda complained that words were being put in their mouth. They wrote that they had not asked to change the game, only that they considered the factions' action cowardice, and said the many replies showed the point had hit home. Participant claim^[15]

On 24 Jun 2017 mikk [1771931] wrote that after 10 pages of crying they still did not get NuffleMurda's point, and asked what they would do about it.^[16]

Where it ended

On 25 Jun 2017 Thrie wrote that they did not see points on both sides. They said larger factions needed people to hit to keep a chain alive, and that NuffleMurda could opt out by filling their warbase to 500 as other leaders did.^[17]

On 22 Jun 2017 -Khaos- [2063067] pointed a poster in another thread to this one, calling it NuffleMurda's "shitpost of a thread".^[18]

The last post in the thread came from NuffleMurda on 18 Aug 2017. They wrote that level 50+ faction leaders declaring war on a faction of twelve 4 day old level 3's was a different matter from a higher level player being mugged by a lower one. Participant claim^[19]
