How can a player make a lot of money in Torn?

No source ranks Torn's money makers by income. A June 2026 guide treats flying abroad from level 15 as the standard start, ideally from a Private Island (PI) with an airstrip[1]. Players also list trading, faction OCs, ranked wars and selling losses or bounty slots[2]. The only concrete figures are the Mob Mentality OC's $673,000 to $1,500,000 total payout[3], an advertised $250k per loss sold[4], and cash-dividend stocks at approximately 20% APR[5]. The sources don't say how much capital those stocks need.

None of the sources compares these methods by income per hour or per day, so the table does not show which earns the most[2][10]. It shows what each method needs and what figures exist[1][3][5].

Abroad item running

Travel unlocks at level 15. The loop is: fly abroad, buy goods, bring them home, sell them to traders, and repeat[1]. A June 2026 guide says to start with flower and plushie runs and to get into a PI with an airstrip as soon as possible, renting one for a week or two if needed[1]. The same guide says short flights without a PI are almost never worth it because of airport fees and poor returns[1].

  • Without an airstrip a player carries 5 travel items. A PI airstrip raises this to 15 and cuts flight times by 30%[1].
  • A 2024 guide put a large suitcase at about 10m for 10 more items[6].
  • Players rank runs by profit per hour with third-party tools: YATA, Valigia and Torn Intel[6][15][16].
  • Torn Intel factors in a flight book (−25%) and company perks (+5 flowers/plushies)[16].
  • The 2024 guide warns that some players wait abroad to mug new players, so don't carry too much[6].

The best runs change with the market. In August 2024 a guide said Xanax runs to South Africa were the most profitable at 8 thousand per minute according to YATA, but they cost natural energy during the flight and carried a high mug risk[17]. The same guide said plushie prices were at a 10-year low after the Pawn Shop update[17]. A 2017 wiki guide said a very active player with a PI airstrip could profit around 2M a day, while renting a PI cost 1M a day[18]. Treat these as history and check a live tool for current margins.

Trading and flipping

  • The wiki page captured in June 2025 gives a 4% item market sales fee, scheduled to rise to 5% on 22 June 2025. No newer source confirms the current rate[8].
  • Item market sales were free until 22 February 2025. The fee then rose 1% a month[19].
  • Listing anonymously costs an optional extra 10%. The 5* Car Dealership and 5* Property Broker specials cut that fee to 0%[8].
  • A bazaar costs 250 points, and bazaar sales avoid the item market fee[7]. The trade-off is that bazaar listings no longer appear in the item market[20].
  • The experimental Bazaar Directory (Patch #386, 20/05/2025) features bazaars that specialise or sell consistently[21].

Faction OCs and ranked wars

  • In OC 2.0, faction leadership sets the participants' share anywhere from 0 to 100%, split equally among them[9].
  • Item rewards can be paid out at market value from faction funds, or withdrawn and sold[22].
  • Mob Mentality (Level 1, 4 days, 4 people): $673,000 minimum to $1,500,000 maximum plus faction respect. This is the total before the split[3].
  • Best of the Lot (Level 2) and Smoke and Wing Mirrors (Level 3) pay respect and one car, not cash[23][24].
  • Counter Offer (Level 5, 5 days, 5 people) pays items valued at sell price. The wiki estimates the total at at least 24 million[25].
  • Players list ranked war payouts as income, but no source gives amounts[2][10].

Losses, bounty slots and bounty hunting

The loss and bounty-slot prices below come from forum advertisements by player-run Discord services. They are the services' own prices, not rates set by the game, and TornLife has not verified them[11][4][26].

  • BLACKSTONE (July 2026) advertises $250k per loss sold and $150k per bounty posted. Buyers pay $300k per loss[11][4].
  • SilverCrest (February 2026) advertised $150k per posted bounty[26][27].
  • One player said they sold losses to get past level 15 before they started flying[2].
  • One 2024 guide says high stats are not needed. It reports players under noob protection claiming bounties over $1m[12].
  • The same guide says hunters can lose the race or the fight, or be attacked before claiming. Done badly, hunting uses up energy and medical cooldown for nothing[12][13].
  • A claimed bounty goes into the wallet, where it can be mugged, so stash it quickly. Most bounties are placed on weekends[13].

Stocks and bank interest

  • The stock market requires a Stock Ticker, which costs 50 Points[14].
  • TCC (350,000 shares), IOU (3,000,000) and TSBC (4,000,000) pay random cash dividends at approximately 20% APR[5]. The sources give no share prices, so the cash cost of a block is unknown.
  • The Stocks 2.0 page (captured 2025-06-24) says a block is active as soon as it is bought[28]. It is newer than the Stock Market page, which describes a 7-day wait for passive benefits[29].
  • The Stock Market page uses FHG to illustrate that each extra increment costs double the one before and that a benefit must be claimed within 24 hours of the midnight cron[29].
  • Bank APRs vary over time, and each merit spent adds 5%[30]. Holding 1.5 million TCB shares raises interest by 10%, for example from 22.00% to 24.20%[5].

Crimes, jobs, points and Xanax

No source gives current income figures for crimes, jobs, points or Xanax flipping. In March 2025 one player said cracking covered their daily drug costs[10]. A 2024 guide called basic jobs not very profitable and picked the Grocer job for its cash-stealing perk[6]. The TCP stock gives a company sales boost[31]. The Points Market caps prices at $100,000 per point, and the average price moves with demand[32]. Points can't be traded directly but can move through the faction armory[33]. The 2017 wiki guides suggested flipping cheap Xanax, but their prices are long out of date[18][34]. The old organized crime page and its payout table are marked outdated[35][36].

Which suits whom

  • Below level 15: loss and bounty-slot selling have no stated level requirement[2][4]. A 2025 guide advises joining a beginner-friendly faction early[37].
  • Level 15 and up: fly, and rent or buy a PI with an airstrip as soon as possible[1].
  • Spare capital: trade, using a bazaar to avoid the item market fee[7].
  • Faction members: OC payouts and ranked war payouts, with the split set by leadership[9][2].
  • Combat-focused players: bounty hunting, raising the minimum bounty worth chasing as stats grow[13][12].
  • Large capital: cash-dividend stocks and bank interest[5][30].
  • None of the sources shows which of these earns the most[2][10].

Where sources disagree

  • In August 2024 a guide called Xanax runs to South Africa the most profitable flight[17]. A June 2026 guide presents flower and plushie runs as the standard start[1].
  • Travel capacity figures differ. A 2026 guide gives 15 items with a PI airstrip[1]. A 2024 guide's author carried 27 items with the PI pilot upgrade and a large suitcase[6].
  • The Stocks 2.0 page says a block is active as soon as it is bought[28]. The earlier-captured Stock Market page says passive benefits need 7 days of ownership[29].

Normally, you can carry 5 travel items. A PI with an airstrip lets you carry 15 travel items.
Without PI, do not put any effort into the short flights, between airport fees and lacklustre returns, it's almost never worth it.
