How does paying for employee trains work for a company owner?
The game generates company trains for the director each day, equal to the company's stars, with a cap of 20 saved. Any price charged for them is a player arrangement. Employee pay is separate: the director sets it per employee (cap $25,000,000) and it is paid from company funds at closing.[1][2][3]
This answer reads "trains" as company trains given by the director, not gym training. The wiki's wording is that employee trains are generated "to be used by the director" at closing. It does not put a price on them.[2]
How trains are generated and used
- A company earns trains daily equal to its stars (1* gets 1, 5* gets 5) and can save up to 20.[1]
- Trainers can increase the daily amount; the wiki lists the Trainer special position as giving up to 3 extra trains.[4][1]
- Trains are generated at closing (about 6:00 PM TCT). If the director is inactive, they stack up to the cap and are not distributed.[2]
- A 2018 handbook says the director uses trains on employees through the Manage employees section.[5]
- Each director train gives 50 primary and 25 secondary work stats. An employee can receive up to 20 a day.[6][3]
- Director trains are locked for a newly hired employee for 72 hours.[3]
Employee pay is separate
The director sets pay per employee, capped at $25,000,000, and it is paid out automatically at closing. The director must keep enough in the company vault to cover pay and advertising for a week.[3][2][7] A 2020 guide suggested paying about 50% of profit after advertising, and said pay is entirely the director's choice. That is one player's opinion.[8]
What players charge for trains
Selling trains is a player arrangement, not a game feature. In a 2018 thread the asker had never been charged and asked why some directors do.[9]
A 2025 sale listing for a 9/10-star (alternating) Adult Novelties company counted training sales as income. The seller's stated figure was 70 trains a week at $500,000 each, which TornLife calculates as 35,000,000 per week. This is one seller's claim, not a market range.[10][11]
There is no fixed etiquette. A 2019 asker wondered whether the price should drop by the pay a normal employee would get, or rise for valuable specials.[12] A 2021 asker described rotational trains as slow but cheap and paid training as more expensive, and preferred job points.[13]
Separately, from a wage point of view: a 2020 guide and a 2026 guide say new players may accept zero pay in exchange for daily trains. Both are guide opinions.[14][15]
