What are the best cars for each racing class in Torn?

No source names a current best car for every class. Current wiki stat data covers Class A only: the Edomondo NSX leads braking and handling, and the Stormatti Casteon leads speed and acceleration but is a competition prize[1]. For Classes B–E the picks are 2015–2019 player opinions that use old car names[2][3][4].

How classes work

Players start in Class E and rank up by racing points earned from top-three official races: 25 for D, 100 for C, 250 for B, 475 for A[5]. Points from company specials do not count towards class[5]. Baldr's 2016 FAQ says the same[6]. The Car Dealership's Test Drive special turns 5 job points into a racing point[7].

Class A: base stats (wiki, captured 2025-05)

Dirt / Safety / TarmacAll equal (35 / 50 / 50)All equal[1]

The Edomondo NSX has braking 55 and handling 55, but top speed and acceleration of 45[8]. The Weston Marlin 177 is the reverse: top speed 55, acceleration 50, braking 50, handling 45[9]. The Echo R8 has handling 55 with top speed 45[10]. The Casteon is a prize in the Ultimate Racing Tournament, and the Lambrini Torobravo is listed as currently unobtainable[11].

Other classes: wiki stats

The sources give stats for only two non-A cars. The Colina Tanprice has the maximum dirt value of any car (40), with top speed 35, acceleration 40, braking 40, handling 45 and tarmac 35[12]. The Class E Stålhög 860 is very weak: top speed 15, acceleration 5, braking 10, handling 10, dirt 5[13]. Baldr's FAQ mentions the Colina as an option for B class and points to a separate post on its upgrades[6].

Older player picks by class (2015–2019)

These are opinions using real-world car names. No source maps them to current in-game names, and nothing shows they are still competitive in 2026.

DToyota MR2Long ratio, all tarmac, turbo 3; Honda Accord as second car[2]
CHonda Integra RLong ratio, all tarmac, turbo 3[2]. One 2017 player used a Ford Focus RS and called it decent[14]

Class A by track (RD, 2015)

  • Ferrari 458: Uptown, Underdog, Docks, Vector[15]
  • Honda NSX: Commerce, Industrial, Sewage, Meltdown[15]
  • Audi R8 (all dirt): Parkland, Two Islands, Hammerhead, Stone Park, Mudpit[15]
  • Lexus LFA (long ratio): Withdrawal, Speedway, Convict[15]

Conflict inside RD_'s guide: one post lists the Audi R8 for all five dirt tracks including Mudpit[15], while another says the Sierra Cosworth is the top Mudpit performer in Class A[3]. Rogue in 2019 also says the Cosworth remains best on Mudpit in Class A[4]. The sources do not say which RD_ post is later.

Upgrades

  • Baldr: 266 points buys all upgrades on a Class A car except safety[16]. Full A-class upgrades cost just under $700,000 plus points (Baldr, 2016)[6].
  • RD_'s breakdown gives 311 points with safety items included[3].
  • Baldr says most Class A opponents run fully outfitted cars[16].
  • Safety upgrades do not lower wreck chance; Baldr rated them low priority[16].
  • Weight reduction upgrades are never overwritten by later ones[4].
  • Un-enlisting a car removes its upgrades[6].

Cost and availability (wiki, 2025-05)

Docks buy prices: Sturmfahrt 111 (B) $95,000, Tsubasa Impressor (B) $55,000, Volt MNG (B) $38,000, Volt RS (C) $55,000, Verpestung Sport (D) $12,500, Nano Pioneer (E) $9,500, Papani Colé (E) $11,000[11]. Many other cars come from GTA crimes, the Mechanic Shop (Volt GT, Weston Marlin 177), a competition prize (Stormatti Casteon), or are currently unobtainable (Lambrini Torobravo)[11]. Class A sell values include Zaibatsu GT-R $87,500 and Volt GT $150,000[11]. Current market prices are not in the sources.

Racing skill and choosing

  • Racing skill rises every race, more on longer tracks and with better finishes; car type has no effect, and it is capped at 100[17].
  • Custom races give skill but no racing points[18].
  • A 2026 player says success is RNG plus a car with track-appropriate upgrades, and skill only slightly improves odds[19].
  • Stuck in B: Rogue advises a dirt car and entering only dirt races[4].
  • The car list is sorted by total combined stats and the top car is auto-selected in official races, so check the selection[20].

Where sources disagree

  • RD_'s posts disagree on Class A Mudpit: the Audi R8 for all dirt tracks[15] versus the Sierra Cosworth as top Mudpit performer[3]; Rogue in 2019 backs the Cosworth[4].
